Chapter 58 Isn't It You Who Wants a Divorce
A loud crash echoed through the room as the old door was kicked open!
Katherine and Eliot jumped, startled by the sudden intrusion, and turned to look at the doorway.
Alexander's tall figure loomed menacingly in the entrance, radiating a terrifying aura as he saw the two.
At that moment, Eliot was holding Katherine protectively in his arms, and Katherine, still in shock, hadn't yet pulled away.
The sight made Alexander lose all reason!
"Alexander..."
Katherine's voice trembled with a hint of panic, wondering how he had found them here.
Before she could finish, Alexander stormed into the room, grabbed Eliot by the collar, and violently yanked him away from Katherine, landing a brutal punch on Eliot's face.
Caught off guard, Eliot groaned, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
Enraged, he lunged at Alexander, and soon the two were brawling.
The sounds of flesh hitting flesh filled the apartment, furniture crashing and splintering around them, creating a chaotic scene.
Just then, Sebastian finally arrived via the elevator.
As he walked in, he was stunned by the sight of what looked like a battleground!
"Alexander!" He instinctively tried to intervene, but couldn't get between them.
Katherine stood frozen in shock.
The usually composed Alexander seemed intent on beating Eliot to death with every punch.
"Katherine, do something!" Sebastian shouted urgently, trying to find a way to separate the two.
Katherine snapped out of her daze, taking a step forward, but she was at a loss for words.
Ultimately, Sebastian seized the moment, risking it all to bear-hug Eliot, using his body as a shield to prevent Alexander from continuing the assault.
"Enough! Do you two want to make headlines tomorrow?"
Sebastian barely managed to restrain Eliot, who was panting heavily, glaring at Alexander with a sinister look.
Blood-stained lips curled into a cold smile. "Alexander! You can't make Katherine happy! You're just an opportunistic scumbag! Stop wasting her time!"
Alexander, who had momentarily calmed down, was instantly enraged again, his chest heaving, eyes glaring menacingly at Eliot.
Just as he was about to strike again, Katherine stepped forward and grabbed his arm.
Her voice was soft as she said, "Stop fighting."
Alexander froze, turning to look at her, a faint trace of panic in his eyes.
Was she worried about Eliot getting hurt?
Was she really protecting Eliot?
The panic in his eyes turned to sadness as he silently took her hand and led her out of the apartment.
Inside, Eliot continued to shout angrily, "Katherine! You'll regret staying with him!"
Alexander's steps faltered, his back stiffening, but he didn't look back, gripping Katherine's hand even tighter, almost roughly, as he led her away.
On the drive back to the mansion, the car was eerily silent.
The oppressive atmosphere filled the car, Katherine staring out the window at the rapidly passing night scenery, the glass reflecting Alexander's tense face.
He seemed focused on the road ahead, as if the man who had just lost control wasn't him.
Katherine's mind was in turmoil, but Alexander showed no sign of speaking, making her even more anxious.
When they finally arrived at the mansion's garage, Katherine unbuckled her seatbelt first, getting out of the car without waiting for him.
Alexander watched her retreating figure from the driver's seat, his heart heavy and pained.
He didn't dare follow her immediately, afraid of what she might say.
After smoking two cigarettes to calm down, he finally stepped into the mansion.
He paused at the staircase, then turned and opened the door to the guest room instead of heading to the master bedroom.
Sitting despondently on the bed, replaying the events at the apartment in his mind, the door creaked open.
He looked up sharply to see Katherine standing at the doorway with a first aid kit.
Their eyes met, and Katherine averted her gaze, quietly walking in.
"Your face is injured," She said softly, her voice slightly hoarse. "Let me treat it."
Alexander didn't move, just watched her in silence.
He observed her opening the kit, taking out cotton swabs and disinfectant, her movements stiff as she approached him.
A slight sting at the corner of his mouth made Alexander frown, his gaze never leaving her flushed face.
Just as Katherine finished treating his wound and was about to pull her hand back, Alexander suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Startled, Katherine instinctively tried to pull away, but he held her tighter.
He looked up, his deep eyes fixed on her, his voice rough as he called her name, "Katherine."
He swallowed hard, taking a deep breath, as if gathering the courage to speak, "Do you really want a divorce?"
Katherine was stunned by his question.
She had expected him to demand why she was with Eliot at the apartment, even suspecting it was their love nest.
She had already prepared her explanation, but instead, he asked this.
"Isn't it you who wants the divorce?" She replied softly, her eyes deep as she looked at him.
Now it was Alexander's turn to be stunned, frowning in confusion. "I never wanted a divorce."
Katherine's thoughts were jumbled.
She avoided his gaze, pulling her hand back and packing up the first aid kit.
Her tone was deliberately calm as she said, "Yesterday you fiercely opposed Vossler Global Industries, and today you accompanied Thalia to apologize to Theodore at her home. I thought you were worried Theodore wouldn't agree to marry off Thalia to you."
Her voice was full of cold sarcasm and jealousy.
"And when we got married, you said this marriage would only last five years." She looked up at him, her tone still flat, but her eyes were red. "After five years, we would go our separate ways, free from each other."
"That's why I didn't want to use the black cards you gave me. To avoid complications during the divorce. I didn't want an awkward divorce in the end." She added.
Listening to her, Alexander frowned tightly, gripping her wrist a bit harder, seemingly unable to understand her words.
In the end, he only said, "You're my wife. It's only right for you to use my money."
Meeting his gaze, Katherine gave a bitter smile. "In these years we've been married, you've given enough to the White family. I don't need to spend your money."
"Katherine!" Alexander was clearly displeased by her words.
"Honestly, I think you and Thalia are quite a match, in terms of family background and looks. Besides, you've known each other since childhood. If you want to marry her soon, I can agree to the divorce now."
Before she could finish, Katherine felt the world spin as Alexander pinned her tightly to the bed!
