Chapter 276 I'll Handle Everything

Chapter 276 I'll Handle Everything
Leila's POV

By early evening, I received a text from Theron that he was on his way.

When Theron arrived, his eyes immediately sought mine. Even after our morning together, he looked at me as though he'd been starved for the sight of me.

"How was your day with Grandma? Were you bored? What did you two do?" he asked once we were settled in his car.

I leaned back against the leather seat, lips curved in a smile. "Not boring at all. We talked a lot. She asked about our wedding plans, so I did some research online afterward."

Theron glanced at me curiously before returning his attention to the road. "And?"

"Weddings are so complicated! Just thinking about venues and guest lists is giving me a headache," I complained, shaking my head.

Theron laughed, a warm, genuine sound that always made something flutter in my chest. At a stoplight, he reached over to pull me closer, pressing a kiss to my temple.

"Don't worry about the wedding. I'll handle everything," he promised, his voice low and sincere. "Just be my beautiful, happy bride. The venue, guest list - all that stuff - we'll hire planners or I'll take care of it."

My eyes widened in surprise, a sense of relief washing over me. "Really? If you say so, I might just do nothing at all."

His gaze softened with tenderness as he nodded. "That's right. Just marry me - that's all you need to do."

The raw emotion in his eyes made my heart skip a beat. Unable to resist, I leaned forward and wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing him with all the affection and gratitude I felt in that moment.

Later that evening, after dinner, we settled onto the couch with glasses of wine. Theron's arm draped comfortably around my shoulders as I curled against his side.

"By the way, have you heard from Brandon recently?" I asked, breaking the comfortable silence. The question had been lingering in my mind all day.

During the proposal celebration, Brandon hadn't been present, and when I called to check on him, he'd mentioned still being in The Haven. His voice had been casual, but something about it had struck me as off. Brandon always reported good news but rarely shared difficulties, which made me constantly worry about what he wasn't saying.

Theron kissed my cheek reassuringly, his voice gentle. "He's fine, don't worry. I have people keeping an eye on him. He's dealing with the Randall rivals over there. Until he makes progress, he probably won't come back."

A flicker of concern crossed my mind. "Could those issues in The Haven affect our family in Chicago?"

"Probably not," Theron replied, his fingers tracing soothing patterns on my arm. "Plus, now that Adam's recovered, if they try anything, he won't sit by and watch. Honestly, those rivals should be the ones worried."

I nodded, letting his words sink in. He was right—Brandon was extraordinarily capable, and with Adam back at full strength, they made a formidable team. The Randall family had faced threats before and emerged stronger each time.

Theron pulled me closer, his lips brushing my ear. "Don't worry about it, babe. Whatever happens, I've got you."

The comfortable weight of his arm around me and the warmth of the wine had almost lulled me into drowsiness when a question suddenly occurred to me. I turned to face him, curiosity piqued.

"I've been wondering about something. Your influence here in the US is obvious, but The Haven... you seem to know a lot about it too?"

"I do," Theron replied, an enigmatic smile playing on his lips. His fingers idly stroked my hair as he added, "There's actually a Sterling branch in The Haven."

My eyes widened in surprise. "Really? The Sterlings are there too?"

He nodded, his expression growing more serious. "Yes. Actually, that's where I first got poisoned years ago."

The memory of one of the reasons he had cited for our divorce sent a chill through me. My expression must have betrayed my concern because he pulled me closer.

"If even you got poisoned there, isn't that place dangerous?" I asked, unable to keep the worry from my voice.

"Not exactly," he explained, his tone measured. "The power struggles there are just more intense. The regulations are looser too. It's where many old-money families and hidden billionaires gather. When influence runs that deep, business tactics get pretty ruthless."

I considered his words, trying to imagine a place even more cutthroat than the high-stakes business world of San Francisco or Chicago. It seemed almost like something from a film—a hidden enclave of the ultra-wealthy playing by their own rules.

Theron wrapped both arms around me, his chin resting atop my head. "When the time is right, I'll take you to The Haven."

"Okay," I replied simply, nestling against his chest.

We didn't speak further on the topic that night. I drifted toward sleep in his arms.
