Chapter 195 SWEET LIES AND BITTER TRUTHS

Chapter 195 SWEET LIES AND BITTER TRUTHS
NOAH'S POV

Shawn is passed out on the bed after everything.

His body is limp with his chest rising and falling in shallow, exhausted breaths like he's been doing hard labour…
Well he has, but he looks absolutely wrecked with his face slack with an obscene expression that looks like pleasure.

Not to talk of his hair. It's an absolute mess and it's sticking to his forehead with sweat and the drool from his swollen lips due to the kissing and biting.

His entire thigh and back area is covered with red marks, fingerprints and bite marks.

All in all, a successful morning I’d say.

I’m still buried inside of him with my cock hard and ready to go and my oh my, I don't mind going in this manner.

I want to continue, I want to fuck him until he wakes up moaning and mewling against the sheets.

But he's gone awfully quiet so I tap his cheek gently.

“Shawn?”

No response from him so I tap again, a little firmer this time.
“Shawn?”

Nothing. He's completely unconscious and wiped out from the hours of lovemaking and borderline mating we had.

We need to work on his stamina.

I groan out half in frustration and half in resignation.
Years in the military has pretty much left me with good stamina for life so Shawn desperately needs to catch up.

No rush, we have the rest of our lives.

I carefully pull out of him, sighing at the loss when I pull out.
The image was worth it though.

His hole is twitching with cum leaking and dripping down his thigh.

The sight makes my cock twitch once again but I force myself to focus and look away.

When I've had enough time to calm down, I clean him gently with the warm rag I got from the bathroom, wiping of the mess we made on his stomach, thighs and between his cheeks.

Every mark I made on him is kissed by me, leaving even more kisses beside them because I felt they looked too lonely on their own.

He doesn’t stir even when I clean the bite mark I left on his shoulder when he tried to tease me by biting my nipple.

When he’s clean and comfortable, I pull the blanket over him and tuck him in slowly, smiling when he lets out a little sigh.

I stand there for a second, just watching him sleep calmly.

He looks peaceful, and mine.

I pull on a pair of black shorts, skipping the tank top and head straight to the kitchen.
I’m starving.

My back and chest area looks like I just survived a battlefield.
As I catch my reflection on the hallway mirror I pass, I let out a small whistle at the sight of them.

Red scratched and indentations run down my back caused by Shawn's nails makes me feel a little smug and proud.

Dark hickeys and bite marks around my chest, collarbone and shoulders makes it looks like I've been attacked by a wild animal.

I smile, it's the best kind of attack.

In the kitchen, the microwave is still humming and keeping the brookie warm even after several hours.
I stop it and pull the tray out to see the next best thing in my life after Shawn.

The chocolate chip brookie is absolutely perfect just the way I liked it.

If I didn't marry Shawn because of the stupid contract I already destroyed, I would definitely marry him just because of this.

It's gooey in the middle has crisp edges with chocolate melted and oozing everywhere I could see from.

I take one bite with anticipation as the rich, fudgy chocolate with cookies layers explode on my tongue.

“Fuck,” I groan with my eyes closing in perfect bliss.
“Best day ever.”
And I meant it.

I take another bite as I sit on the stool, savoring the best bits of life when somehow, the kitchen still smells like my beautiful wife.

Oh I'm definitely the most lucky husband there is on this planet.

The phone keeps ringing persistently and annoying even though I've been ignoring it for the past five minutes.

One look at a naked Shawn had me changing my schedule for the whole day– but I never knew they'd be such a bastard about it.

I sigh and finally glance down at the screen. I freeze immediately.

Mom. It's my mother.

For a second, I just stare at it I'm confusion because she doesn’t call me without a reason.
Or even at all.

She's only ever called me about a handful of times in all my life so for her to call me directly..

A flicker of uneasy crawls up my spine as I push the brookie away for a bit and answer in trepidation.
I don't know who I'd be getting today.

“Hello?”

There’s a pause on her end before–

“My darling.”

Her voice is soft and warm so I sigh in relief.
I wasn't getting Lily today, I'm getting my mother.

I close my eyes briefly.

It was rare to get this version of her, the gentle one that used to hum lullabies and live life like the world wasn't a dangerous one.

“It’s been a while,” she continues lightly. “How are you baby?”

I let out a quiet breath as I lean back against the counter.
“I’m alive,” I say simply.

A small hum comes from the other end.

“Alive is good,” she replies. “I’ve been hearing… well some things.”

Of course she has.
Even when she pretends she doesn’t care, I know she has people monitoring me.

“I’m fine,” I say to her, taking another bite of the brookie just so I could give myself something to do. “You don’t need to worry about me.”

Another pause from her and as I worry why she's not responding, it's like their shifts even when she's not physically here with me.

It’s subtle and barely there but after the years I've spent in my life as her son, I can notice and feel it almost immediately when it happens.

Her tone loses its softness and changes to a more demanding and commanding tone.
It's Lily now I guess.

“Noah, drop the men hunting Matteo.”

The words land flat nd demanding so I stop chewing and slowly lower the spoon in my head.
There it is.

Lily probably sent my mother to speak first before taking control and demanding me to do something just like she used to when I was a child.

A command from someone I don even know what to refer to as.

I almost laugh.

“Oh? Is that so?” I murmur with my voice calm.

“I’m serious,” she continues. “Call them off. Immediately.”

I tilt my head slightly, pressing my tongue against the inside of my cheek as the faint tang of chocolate settles in my mouth.

She doesn’t sound emotional of desperate, she sounds…
I don know.

This is probably the first time I'm hearing her sound like this.

Which means this isn’t about Matteo.
At least not entirely.

“Why?” I ask her and there's a brief hitch in her breath and also hesitation.

“It’s unnecessary,” she says smoothly. “There’s no need for escalation. Let the situation resolve itself without your interference.”
