"Spying on you?"
Lawrence raised an eyebrow and took a step forward. "Emily, we’re not even divorced yet, and you’re already sneaking around with another guy. Don’t you think you owe me an explanation?"
He was frantic when he heard she might be in trouble, desperate to see her safe and sound.
But after searching everywhere, he found her with another man...
If he wasn’t worried about scaring her and the baby, he would’ve punched Terrence right then and there.
"An explanation?"
Emily was speechless.
He barged in and interrupted their dinner, and now he thought he had the right to demand answers?
And who she was with, what she was doing, how was that any of his business? He had Elise, so why was he still meddling in her life...
"Lawrence, I don’t owe you any explanations about our relationship."
Emily stood up, facing him with eyes as cold as ice. "Don’t forget, the only reason we’re still married is because of William’s condition and to avoid gossip about the baby. That’s no excuse for you to cause trouble!"
Their agreement was clear: they stayed married for William’s health and to protect the baby from rumors.
But it didn’t say anything about their personal feelings being restricted.
She hadn’t interfered with his affair with Elise, so why was he here dictating her actions?
Accusing her of sneaking around with another man?
His words were truly harsh.
Done with the conversation, she turned to Terrence, who was sitting across from her. "Terrence, I’ve lost my appetite. Let’s go somewhere else to talk."
Terrence, eager to leave Lawrence’s presence, stood up without hesitation.
As they left, he didn’t forget to say, "Mr. Parker, we’ll be going now. Feel free to stay."
When they reached the steps, Terrence gently supported Emily’s arm, helping her down.
Emily nodded and thanked him.
Their intimate gestures felt like a deliberate show-off to Lawrence, igniting his fury.
Damn it!
First Quincy, now Terrence. They weren’t even divorced yet, and these men were already trying to take her away.
If he didn’t bring her back home soon, Emily might be gone for good.
The bodyguards, sensing Lawrence’s anger, were unsure what to do without Harold, who was still recovering in the hospital.
One of them cautiously asked, "Mr. Parker, should we continue following Mrs. Parker?"
Their job was to ensure Emily’s safety.
Who knew she’d stop midway and have dinner with another man, provoking Lawrence to come and confront her.
Lawrence, still fuming, glared at the bodyguard. "She’s already left with someone else. What’s the point of following?"
The bodyguard, realizing his mistake, lowered his head in silence.
Lawrence stormed outside, dismissing the bodyguards, and decided to follow Emily’s car himself.
He couldn’t trust her alone with Terrence.
Meanwhile, outside the restaurant, Emily felt drained.
She knew Lawrence always managed to affect her emotions.
How dare he speak to her like that?
He was the one with rumors all over the place, even bringing another woman to his company. What right did he have to lecture her?
Yet, despite everything, Emily felt a knot in her chest.
She blamed it on pregnancy hormones. Before, no matter what Lawrence said, she wouldn’t have cared.
But now, since getting pregnant, even the smallest things upset her, making her brood and overthink.
The further along she got, the harder it was to control her emotions.
Terrence noticed her change and, being the gentleman he was, helped her into the car, comforting her from outside.
"Emily, if you’re tired, go home and rest. We can always have dinner and chat another time. It’s no big deal."
Terrence had worried that Emily might still have feelings for Lawrence and wouldn’t want a divorce.
But seeing their interaction today, he felt a glimmer of hope.
He didn’t mind waiting. As long as Emily no longer loved Lawrence, he believed he’d have a chance to be with her.
Eventually, she’d realize they were the perfect match.
"I’m really sorry, Terrence. I wanted to catch up properly, but... I owe you one. I’ll make it up to you with another dinner."
The more considerate Terrence was, the guiltier Emily felt.
But in her current state, it wasn’t fair to have a heart-to-heart with him. It wouldn’t be right for Terrence either.
"Alright, take it slow. I’ll... wait for your call."
Terrence reluctantly stepped back, letting her leave.
Though he said he’d wait, he knew their chances to meet were rare. This was a missed opportunity.
Ruined by Lawrence.
But he didn’t want to force Emily. Seeing her unhappy wouldn’t make him happy either.
"Okay."
Emily nodded, waved at Terrence, and the bodyguard started the car, driving away slowly.
Unbeknownst to her, Lawrence watched everything from a distance.
Seeing their reluctant farewell, he clenched his fists and followed her car.
Terrence had just gotten into his car when he received a call from home.
Seeing the caller ID, he sighed and answered, "Dad!"
A voice full of discontent came through the phone. "You still remember I’m your father? You’ve been away for months without a call. Where have you been?"
"You always said I wasn’t mature enough. I’m out here gaining experience, improving myself, so I can take over your responsibilities one day!"
Terrence knew exactly what his father wanted to hear and said it.
Sure enough, his father paused, surprised by Terrence’s serious tone.
"That’s more like it. But you’ve been away long enough. Your mother misses you. It’s time to come home."
"Even if you’re taking over for me, you can’t wait until I’m too old to work. Come back while I can still teach you. It’s time to inherit the family business."
Terrence cared for his parents, but he had just taken over as VP of the Wilson Group, and his relationship with Emily was still developing.
Leaving now would be too hard to accept.
He had given up everything abroad to come here, taking the VP position at the Wilson Group, all for a chance with Emily.
He had waited too long for this moment.
With Emily and Lawrence on the brink of divorce, he didn’t want to give up easily.
