Emily's mind immediately went to Elise.

She'd always had a hunch that Elise was actually Olivia, but without any proof, she had to let it slide.

But now, the timing was perfect.

Her words grabbed Ezra and Gray's attention right away.

Gray, looking confused, asked, "Emily, what do you mean by this person being in Emerald City? Wasn't she missing?"

"Gray, remember Elise, the woman hanging around Lawrence? From the moment she showed up, she was all over him, like he was the only guy in the world."

"And from what I've seen, Elise's little habits and the way she cares about Lawrence are just like Olivia's. So, I think she might be Olivia."

"But they don't look anything alike," Ezra chimed in. "Olivia's only been missing for a few months. There's no way someone could change their appearance that much in such a short time, even with plastic surgery."

Emily had the same doubts, which is why she hadn't been able to conclude anything.

"Yeah, I wondered about that too. But Ezra, is there any tech out there that could let someone change their looks temporarily without a long recovery?"

"After all, there are a lot of private medical research teams abroad doing all sorts of beauty experiments for the rich. We just haven't come across them."

Emily's words made Ezra and Gray pause for a moment.

There were indeed many such research labs abroad, mostly funded by wealthy individuals, and no one knew exactly what they were researching.

"Instead of wasting time, why not follow Emily's lead? What if she really is Olivia?" Gray thought for a few seconds before making a decision.

"Alright, we don't have much time. Trying is better than doing nothing," Ezra agreed.

The three of them made up their minds, but the next step was tricky.

Kidnapping Elise wasn't realistic. Even if they did, if Elise and Elowen both denied being mother and daughter, they'd be stuck.

Ezra's eyes lit up. "Parents always think about their kids. Threats won't work, but what if we let her 'escape'?"

"Ezra, you mean let Elowen leave and follow her to the person helping her?" Emily caught on quickly.

After all, if Elowen had been hiding in the Beauty Sanctuary for so long, someone must have been helping her, and that person was likely Olivia with a new face.

As soon as Elowen was out, she would definitely seek out Elise.

It was a brilliant plan, and Ezra's military background showed in his quick thinking.

With the plan set, they began to put it into action.

The three stood up, and Ezra casually called over a bodyguard, whispered a few words, and the bodyguard nodded and left.

In the interrogation room, Elowen anxiously waited for the Wilson family to return.

Knowing them, she was sure they wouldn't let her go easily.

She was prepared for the worst.

But after what felt like forever, Ezra didn't come back. Instead, two bodyguards in black suits came in, lifted her up, and took her to a holding cell.

Elowen was stunned.

She couldn't believe she was unharmed.

Had they really just left her alone?

Just then, she heard a hushed conversation outside the door.

Elowen couldn't make out the words, but she had a gut feeling it was about her, so she pressed her ear to the door to listen.

"By the way, what was Mr. Wilson in such a hurry to get? I heard something about medicine and needing it quickly."

"You don't know? That medicine is something Mr. Wilson brought back from abroad. It's colorless and tasteless but stimulates the brain. Once ingested, the person will spill everything, more effective than any torture."

"Really? That powerful? I've never heard of it."

"It's a new weapon developed abroad, used on prisoners and rebels. You know Mr. Wilson's military background. He doesn't like torture, but using 'special medicine' is easy."

"But there's a catch. It severely damages the brain. Just one dose can cause brain damage. I heard someone abroad tried three doses and ended up completely incapacitated, unable to even control their bodily functions."

Elowen's legs went weak.

The conversation continued, and she tried not to think about the medicine's effects on her.

"That's harsh. I wonder who the unlucky person is. Could it be the woman we just locked up?"

"Who else? Mr. Wilson doesn't waste time. If she won't talk, he'll use effective methods."

"I heard he asked for half a bottle. He's using her as a test subject to see the human limit."

The woman inside!

Elowen swallowed hard, her face pale, her body trembling.

Ezra wasn't letting her go. He was going to use her as a test subject.

But she hadn't forgotten how sensitive Ezra's position was. As a high-ranking official, would he risk using torture?

Before Elowen could weigh the pros and cons, the conversation outside resumed.

"Isn't Mr. Wilson worried about the consequences if she dies? His position is too important to risk."

This was exactly what Elowen wanted to know.

Someone scoffed, "You think Mr. Wilson's years of experience are a joke? That medicine leaves no trace. And the woman inside is already unstable. If she goes mad, they can just lock her in a mental hospital. Who would know?"

"Even if someone investigates, without any physical injuries, they can just say she had a breakdown. Who would challenge the Wilson family?"

"True. Mr. Wilson's plan is brilliant. Silently dealing with her... even if she dies, no one will find out."

The voices faded, and Elowen collapsed to the floor.

The Wilson family really wanted her dead.

To avenge Alice, they were willing to use her as a test subject.

No way!

She couldn't wait any longer. If she accidentally revealed the truth, she was as good as dead.

She had to escape.
