(Devan's POV).
"Dev, what happened?" I saw Jason enter with Aiden and my parents shortly after Vivian left me. They approached me with confusion on their faces.
I let out a long breath. I had no energy or enthusiasm. I tried to be honest with Vivian about my past life. Although I knew that I could never forget Freya, I also loved Vivian.
Maybe I seemed mean and selfish because I loved Vivian. After all, she was very similar to Freya at first. But then I realized that they were different people and my love for her grew.
I had lost Freya and I couldn't reach her again. And now, there was Vivian in my life. I didn't want to waste the opportunity. I wanted to make sure she was mine, but things weren't as easy as I'd imagined.
Maybe this was karma for hurting Freya in the past.
"Dev, why are you silent? What happened? Why did Vivian leave?" Jason asked. "Did you guys have a fight?"
I shook my head. "It's my fault," I said.
"What do you mean?"
"She still loves her husband. She rejected me," I confessed to them.
"We heard from Jason," Aiden spoke up. He stood next to me. "I was surprised when I saw her. I thought she was Freya because they both look so much alike, but beyond that Jason has explained to us that she is Vivian."
"Devan, if you approached Vivian because she looks like Freya, you shouldn't have done it," my mom said.
"Don't take your past regrets out on Vivian," my father said.
I couldn't say anything back to them because what they said was true. But only I knew how much my heart hurt because of this regret.
"I loved her. At first, I approached her because I thought that she was Freya, but now I love her because she's Vivian. I just didn't want to let the opportunity slip away without trying," I told them.
At that moment, the door opened and I saw two detectives walk into the room.
"Excuse me, we're from the police department," he said introducing himself, "I'm Max, and this is Cade."
"Oh, Hey," Jason immediately shook his friend Max's hand as they walked over to me.
"Mr. Devan, how are you feeling?" Max asked.
"Not bad," I said, "how did it go? Did you check the CCTV?" I asked.
"Yes, but some of the CCTVs have been tampered with and he was wearing a helmet so we had trouble recognizing his face. But we're trying to check other CCTVs near the area," he explained.
"I'm sure it's the same person who stalked my girlfriend," I said.
"It's about the message terror I told you about the other day," Jason said to Max, "earlier he gave a warning for Devan to stay away from Vivian. And it looks like he intentionally hurt Devan because Devan didn't stay away from her."
"Can you give us more details about what happened before you got into the accident?" Max asked.
"I got a call from Aiden. Someone had sent a rat carcass home and I went back to check on it. But right after I went through the red light, I saw the truck crash into me. I swear I saw the driver intentionally crash into me," I explained.
I could even still feel my fear as the truck sped towards me at full speed. Until my car tipped over and I lost consciousness.
"Alright," he said after he finished jotting something down in his book, "we're taking good care of this matter and if we've found the results, we'll contact you soon," he told me.
"Um." I nodded.
"Oh, what about Miss Vivian? Is she not here?" he asked, "we also need to ask her some questions about this."
"She just left, but you can come to her boutique or home to ask her about this matter," I heard Jason reply, "I'll send you her address later."
"Okay. Then we'll excuse ourselves. Have a good rest, Mr. Devan."
I sighed heavily as the detective walked out along with Jason. Meanwhile, Aiden and my parents were looking at me.
"Was that woman's voice last night Vivian?" Aiden asked.
As I expected, there were a lot of questions they wanted to ask me. The same thing I felt the first time I saw Vivian.
"Hm. I was with her at that time."
"Oh, damn it. I still can't believe that she's not Freya. Their faces are so similar. It would make more sense if she said she was her twin," Aiden said.
"I did some research on her life and she is Vivian."
"Dev," my mom interrupted.
"I know," I said quickly, "I won't make the same mistake a second time. I love her, I swear I love her, Mom. I will never hurt her. I promise."
"Even so, she's married and she still loves her husband. Are you going to keep pushing her?"
"I know that's not the main reason she's staying away from me. She just feels guilty that I got hurt. She thinks it's her fault," I insisted.
I'm sure she feels guilty because of the accident I had.
"I can feel it if she has the same feelings for me," I whispered.
