(Freya's POV).
I don't know if the decision I made was the right one or not. Everything feels heavy and hard for me to think about. Even with all the things that had happened, I still couldn't believe it. But, I decided to be selfish.
That very day, I left the hospital and went back to our home. Our family home. I didn't tell Devan, and he didn't return to the hospital at all after what happened to me.
Although I had worries that terrified me. Something worse might happen to us.
"Get some rest. I'm going to my room. If you need anything, call me," Theo said as he enveloped me.
I looked up at him with a smile, a forced smile. "Um," I mumbled as I nodded.
He stroked my hair lovingly, then half-heartedly left my room. I could see the anxiety in his eyes. The same thing I was feeling right now.
"Theo," I called in a low voice.
"Yes?" Theo turned around and looked at me.
"Just like you said. Everything will be fine. I'll tell Devan that I want a divorce from him. And we can start our new life," I told him.
"Yes. It's much better than me having to watch you get hurt by him," he replied, "Go to sleep. You need a lot of rest."
I nodded. And Theo walked out of my room.
I hoped things would get better again. But I still felt very uneasy about what would happen next.
The divorce.
Would Devan just accept it? Even back then, when I kept asking for a divorce from him. He never listened to me at all. He had no intention of divorcing me before seeing me suffer. Now I understand why he looked at me with hatred in his eyes.
Being Devan must have been very painful. But, I only have Theo. I don't want to lose the only family I have after all the losses I've experienced so far. That was all I wanted.
I slept in tears that I didn't even realize. Dreaming about things I never expected to dream about. Where I was in the dark and there was no one there. No light, no people. I was alone with the cold that pierced my bones.
Then I saw Devan's figure suddenly appear in front of me. Staring at me sharply, full of hatred and vengeance that he always showed me.
He approached me. With a sharp knife in his right hand.
"You must die, Freya!"
I gasped. My heart was beating very fast. My breath catches and I wake up with cold sweat pouring down my face. I press my tight chest. My heart was about to explode.
My face was deathly pale and I had no idea what had just happened. The dream felt so real. It was like I was there. Feeling how terrified I was as Devan walked towards me with a sharp knife that he plunged right into my chest.
A nightmare I never wanted to experience.
"Get out of my house, asshole!"
I gasped in shock as I heard Theo's loud shout. My eyes widened towards the door. My heart was beating fast and my fear had increased in level.
I felt an overwhelming sense of panic. My bad thoughts... something was in my head right now...
I quickly got out of bed. I ripped off my blanket in a hurry and ran outside. Just as I descended the last step, I saw Devan there. In our house.
I froze in place. My eyes glared at him with horror engulfing me. How did he know about this house? I never even told him about my family home. Because he never asked me either.
My heart was beating very fast as Devan stared at me, noticing my appearance. I don't know if it was my feelings or not, but I just saw him grinning. It was a terrifying grin that sent chills down my spine.
"Fey," Theo looked at me with his pale face. He looked terrified as he turned to me. "Get in the room! Now!"
"Theo!" I shouted, loudly when suddenly Devan hit Theo's face until he collapsed backward. I covered my mouth in disbelief at what I had just seen. "Dev! What are you doing?"
I ran full of fear towards them. Trying to protect Theo from the second punch.
"Stop it! What have you done?" I snapped. I stood in front of him. Blocking his steps. I stared at him with piercing eyes.
He didn't speak, but the dark, terrifying look in his eyes told me everything he was feeling and thinking.
"How do you know this place?" I interrogated.
"It's not hard to find a small hideout like this," he said in a mocking tone.
"You sent someone to follow me?" I wrinkled my brow in disbelief.
"Fugitives should be monitored. Isn't that right?" He glanced at Theo.
I felt Theo touch my arm, pulling me closer to him. Putting a wide gap between us and Devan.
"Stop bothering us, asshole!" Theo shouted. "I'll kill you if you hurt Freya," he threatened.
"Kill me?" he smirked. He looked so haughty and arrogant. "You think you can kill me?"
"I can, evenー"
"I want us to get a divorce," I interrupted Theo. Staring intently at Devan. I tried to suppress the fear I felt. I acted strong in front of him, even though I was broken and scared inside.
I saw Devan's gaze darken. His eyes flashed with anger.
"Who are you to make your own decisions? We'll never divorce, Freya," he insisted, "not before I see you destroyed."
"You've gone too far, Dev. You've lost your mind!" I shouted, "I don't need your approval for a divorce. I've asked...."
"Divorce?" he interrupted, chuckling as he looked at me, "Just try it. And you will see your dear brother lifeless the next day."
"You, Bastard!"
"No!"
I squealed. My eyes widened as Theo tried to hit Devan, but he was the one who got punched in the face.
"Theo!" I yelled hysterically. Trying to help him who collapsed on the floor, but Devan grabbed my arm. Pulling me into his arms.
I struggled to be released. Shouting, loudly in a panic.
"Dev, let me go!" I protested.
I tried to break his grip. But he wrapped his strong arms around my waist. Then he kicked Theo's body violently.
"Dev! Stop it! You've gone insane!" I shouted frantically. Until I suddenly froze. Silent with my face pale, my eyes widened with horror. When I heard him whisper in his dark voice full of terrifying threats.
"Shut up and do as I say if you still want to see your brother alive."
