(FREYA'S POV).
I had a panic attack when I saw the text message from Jason. My eyes bulged with fear as my hands began to tremble holding my cell phone. Reflexively, I turned my head in all directions to look for Jason. He must be around here somewhere. He knew I was meeting a man here. He knew about it.
I paled even more when there was no one there. There was only silence. How did he know I was here? Was he spying on me? Had he been following me?
I gasped in shock when my cell phone suddenly rang. My eyes widened, and I saw Jason's name on the screen. I accepted his call with my heart beating very fast.
"Jason," I whispered in a trembling voice.
"Did I scare you?"
"No." I bit my lower lip. Trying to speak calmly even though my face was already deathly pale. "It's none of your business that I meet any guy."
"Even though I sent Devan a picture of you hugging?"
"He knows him. ...." I cringed as I heard him chuckle. "What's so funny?" I asked irritably.
"Look back."
I immediately turned around, widening my eyes in surprise when I saw Jason standing behind me with a wave and a smile that annoyed me. He looked like an innocent man. He immediately ended the phone call and walked so casually towards me. Approaching me.
"Are you surprised?"
"What are you doing?" I asked angrily. My hand gripped my cell phone tightly. "Are you following me?"
He shrugged. “Just a coincidence.”
"Coincidence?! Are you a stalker? Have you gone crazy?! Why are you following me? Aren't we clear? You said you never intended to hurt me!"
My face was red with anger. The muscles of my neck tightened as I raged with my eyes glaring at him.
"Hey, Hey... calm down, Freya. I didn't mean to scare you. I was just joking," he said, trying to grab my arm, but I brushed him off roughly.
"Joking?! Do you think this is funny? Did you see me laughing?!" I protested loudly.
"I was wrong, so I'm sorry," he said with a guilty face.
My chest rose and fell as my anger exploded. I took a deep breath. Still glared at him while he kept trying to calm me down.
"What do you want?" I asked, then.
I don't know how long Jason had seen me with Theo. But I guess he thought that I was cheating on Devan.
"Nothing. I just wanted to tease you."
I furrowed my brow in disbelief. I wondered what he was thinking. I wondered why she was acting this way towards me.
"You don't trust me?"
"You think after what you did to me last time that I can trust you?"
He laughed. Making the dimples in his cheeks visible.
"Well, yeah. That was my fault. I shouldn't have made such a bad impression on you," she said, regretting.
"Go away. I don't want to deal with you anymore." I was about to turn around and leave him.
"Come in. I'll take you home."
"No need. I can take a taxi home."
"You want something bad to happen to you? Like that time?"
I glared at him. "Are you threatening me?" but he laughed, annoyed me. Why does he like teasing me so much?
"I'm not threatening. It's much safer if you come home with me. We can also chat about the guy you just met," he teased me.
"You're so annoying, Jason," I grumbled. Walking over to his car and getting in as he opened the door for me, he seemed satisfied to see me already sitting in his car.
On the way home, I preferred to keep quiet even though he kept glancing at me and making me feel uncomfortable with his gaze.
"Stop looking at me like that. That's rude," I snapped.
"Like what?" she chuckled.
"You know I have a husband."
"Oh, that makes me a little jealous," he grinned, "lovey-dovey couple."
I rolled my eyes lazily. "You're crazy."
And he laughed crisply again.
"So, are you going to tell me who he is?"
I looked at him, and suddenly his gaze turned sharp. I don't know what she was thinking inside her head, but I had the feeling that she wanted to know who the guy I was talking to was.
"Why do I have to tell you?" I demanded curtly. "And you're asking in an annoying tone."
"Freya, I'm sorry. I just...." he swallowed. Looks at me with a guilty expression. "All right. I'll change it. Can I know who he is? I'm just curious."
I stared at him for a long time. Until I finally decided to tell him.
"He's my brother."
And he stopped the car abruptly. Making me grimace as my body stared at the front of the car.
"Jason, are you out of your mind?!" I glared at him, but all I saw was a surprised look on his face. "There's ... what?"
"What did you say? Brother?"
"Yes. Can't you believe he's my older brother?"
He shook his head in frustration. "No, no. I'm just confirming what I've heard." Then he laughed like a fool.
"Jason, you know, right now you look weird. You're scaring me. It's like you've completely lost your mind." I gripped my seatbelt and kept my eyes on him. Being prepared in case he acted like that time.
"Damn. You're really driving me crazy." He grabbed his hair. Glancing at me with his bluish-colored eyes. Looking like someone who was both confused and worried?
"What's wrong?" I asked in confusion. There was an uneasy feeling that I didn't know where it came from.
He shook his head as he closed her eyes. Then looked at me intently. "Just surprised." He swallowed with difficulty.
I squeezed the seatbelt with an uneasy feeling. Should I tell him about Theo? But what if Devan finds out? Devan would hate me more if he knew I had a brother who had been in prison.
"Why be surprised?"
I don't know what happened, but the look in his eyes when he saw me. It made me uncomfortable. I suddenly felt scared and uneasy.
"Jason?"
Jason's expression was even more agitated than mine. And he continued to let out a long sigh.
"You better not tell Devan about your brother."
"What do you mean?" My face paled.
"I'm sorry, Freya. I wanted to hide this from you, but I just couldn't bear it."
"What? What are you talking about?"
"I know you have a brother. And I know he just got out of jail."
I felt like I was having a heart attack when I heard Jason's words. My face was deathly pale and my hands were shaking, cold. My lips were twisted. My eyes widened, staring at him with horror on my face.
"H-how did you know?"
