(Freya's POV)
I ran straight to Harry after I entered the bar. I saw Devan looking very drunk with Harry holding his body.
"What happened?" I asked, worried.
A while ago, I got a call from Harry that Devan was at his bar and he was very drunk. I can't figure out how he ended up at the bar where Harry works, but I hope nothing bad happened between them. Especially with Devan being jealous of Harry.
"Nothing. He just drank a lot after we talked," Harry said. He was still trying to hold Devan's body and I helped him too. "I couldn't leave him here alone, so I called you. It's also still not time for me to go home."
"It's okay, Harry. I'm supposed toー"
"Freya... Freya..."
"Ugh, Dev. Please wake up!" I yelled as he dropped his head on my shoulder and sniffed my neck.
"He's been calling your name ever since," Harry informed me.
"Dev, wake up. You're so heavy," I said, but he just hugged me even tighter and kept chanting my name over and over again.
I almost threw up because the smell of alcohol from his body was so strong.
"How much did he drink to get like this?" I asked Harry.
"Too much to make him like that," Harry said.
I growled in annoyance. Why would he come here and get drunk like this? It pisses me off that I have to take care of him. I hate seeing Devan drunk like this.
"Harry, please help me get him to the car," I pleaded.
"Hm, alright."
Harry quickly helped me carry Devan. But Devan moved constantly and called my name so many times that it made me feel so embarrassed in front of Harry.
"Harry, thank you," I said before I drove my car away from the bar. I kept watching Devan who was unconscious beside me. Why did he have to get drunk like this and trouble me?
I thought he had gone back and taken care of his work, but I didn't expect him to come to a bar to get drunk. Has he gone crazy?!
I scrunched my waist as I opened the door and tried to pull him out. He was too big and heavy for me to deal with. I have to struggle to get him into the house while he keeps moving to overwhelm me.
"Freya, gosh ... why are you so beautiful tonight, hm," he whispered in my ear, making me shudder in horror as his warm breath brushed my eardrums.
"Dev, stop," I protested. I pushed him against the wall and he fell to the floor in a sitting position. "Dev, get up. Come on." I tried to pull him back to his feet, but he was too heavy.
I had to get Devan to the room before Adam saw him. But looking at his darkened room, it looks like he's already fast asleep. I hoped Adam wouldn't see Devan because I was afraid he wouldn't let Devan go easily. Because Adam always asked about Devan every chance he got I didn't know what to answer.
"Devーugh!" I squealed loudly as I was suddenly pulled into his arms and fell to the floor. "Dev, what are you doing," I protested as he hugged me tightly.
I could feel him burying his face in my neck. His warm lips touched my icy skin and his lips moved across my skin as he spoke. It vibrates something that makes me feel uneasy.
"Freya... Freya... I missed you," he whispered.
My body trembles as he hugs me so tightly that I can't breathe. I tried to push him away.
"Dev, let me go," I pleaded. He smiled, making me furrow my brow. "Looks like you're really drunk."
"I'm drunk because of you. Why won't you come back to me? Why, Freya?" he looked at me with teary eyes.
"Dev...."
"I love you. You can tear open my chest and see for yourself. I love you, Freya. So much that I went crazy when you left me." He took my hand and pressed it against his chest. "I think my heart would have stopped arguing if you weren't by my side. I almost died because I lost you. It made me feel like I was living in hell ... For four years I knew I was living in hell, Freya."
All this time I didn't know how Devan felt about me. All I knew was that he hated me because of Theo's past problems. When I found out that Devan still had our wedding photo in his apartment, I was very happy. I wondered if Devan had regretted everything he'd done, but I was afraid to accept that.
Because I always thought that there was no hope for our relationship in the future, so I buried my love for him. But seeing him so hurt like this while crying, I couldn't bear to see him.
"Can you forgive me? Can you stay by my side? Hm?" He looked at me with his tears flowing. And my heart was so broken when I saw it. "Do I need to kneel in front of you? I will if you ask me to. I will do anything, any punishment you give me, as long as you come back to me."
"Devan," I whispered. I wiped away his tears.
It seems like all this time it wasn't just me who was tormented, but Devan too. There were many wounds he bore after I left him. But every time I think of when I begged him and he didn't listen to me at all. I feel like everything he's doing right now is in vain.
How could I melt so easily with just a few words from him? But when I begged him a thousand times, he even insisted on the grudge he held in his hand. Without thinking about my feelings at all.
"Get up. You have to sleep in bed. You can't sit here all night," I said as I pulled him.
Despite the difficulty, I managed to bring him into my room and lay him down on the bed. I take off his shoes, and his suit and tie.
"Freya," he calls.
But I ignore him. I just needed to take off his tie and then get out of there and sleep in Adam's room. And in the morning I would wake him up and ask him to leave before Adam woke up.
At that moment, when I tried to unbutton the topmost shirt so Devan could breathe properly, I accidentally saw the necklace he was wearing.
"N-No way..." I smothered my mouth as I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was the ring that I threw away before I left Devan. "Was he keeping it all this time?"
