(DEVAN'S POV).
"Were there any problems while working on the new hotel?"
"None, sir. About 70% of the work has been done. It is estimated that by the end of this year, the building will be completed."
I looked at the proposal in my hand carefully. A few minutes ago one of my employees explained the proposal regarding the interiors for the new hotel being built. And I liked it.
"Arrange for me to come to the project to check the conditions there. And you, Stefanny, bring the documents I need to sign today to my office. Today's meeting ends here."
"Yes, sir."
I closed the proposal and put it on the table before I stood up and walked out of the room. I let out a long sigh as I walked to my room. And when I got there, I was surprised to see Jason already sitting on the couch with a soda in his hand.
"What's up, buddy!" he greeted with a big smile.
I rolled my eyes lazily as he came into my office without telling me first. Indifferently, I walked over to my desk and checked the paperwork.
"What do you want? Why come here all of a sudden?" I asked without looking at her.
"Guess who came to my office today?"
"You think I'm interested in your personal life? Go away if you're bored. I'm busy and not in the mood for your jokes."
"Jokes? Hmm... I don't think what I'm about to tell you will make you laugh."
"I don't care. Just leave. I still have a lot of work to doー"
"Today Freya came to my office."
I reflexively fell silent when I heard Jason's words. I quickly turned to him, looking at him sharply. The document that I had been holding I just put it on the table. It was no longer interesting in my eyes.
"Well, well, look who's glaring at me. Didn't you say you didn't care?" he mocked.
I clucked in annoyance and hurriedly approached him. I bluntly asked him. "Since when did you get close to her?"
"Since you first introduced her to me?"
I furrowed my brow. "Do you like her?"
"What kind of question is that? As her husband, it sounds strange. As if you don't love her."
"I don't love her," I replied indifferently.
And all I saw from her was a meaningful smile. No wonder she knew everything about what was going on in my life. Including the reason why I married Freya.
"You really don't love her?" he asks in a challenging tone.
"No."
I turn away and grab a can of soda from the fridge and sit down on the couch. I furrowed my brow as he gave me a sharp look.
"What?"
"I didn't know you were good at acting," he mocked.
"That's none of your business."
"Don't you feel sorry for her? She's innocent. You're punishing the wrong person, Dev. She's just an innocent woman who doesn't know anything."
"I don't need a lecture from you!" I snapped. My grudge would never go away until I saw her destroyed. See her life suffer like hell.
He sighed heavily. "You know, Freya contacted me and she asked me for a favor. Someone has tricked her. She has to move before the end of this month to get a new building for her boutique. And she borrowed some money from me."
I widened my eyes in surprise when I heard her words. Since when was her boutique in trouble?
But I tried to remain calm in front of him without showing any exaggerated expression.
"I don't care what happens to her. It's none of my business."
He chuckled. "It's really funny. Even with all your harsh treatment, she still cares about you. You know when I asked her why she didn't ask you for help? She replied that she didn't want to worry you." And his laughter got louder.
I fell silent.
"Well, I just wanted to tell you about this."
I downed my soda and looked at him coldly. "You don't need to tell me something insignificant like this. I told you, I don't care what happens to her at all."
"If I get close to her, won't you care either?"
His statement left me a little shocked. I never even realized that he harbored feelings for Freya.
"You really like her?" I asked in a mocking tone. "No wonder. Because she's a slut who's good at flirting with men."
"Well, I just want to know what it's like to be loved by Freya. She still loves you even though you hurt her."
I squeezed my hands tightly and looked at her coldly. "Look, if you approach her with the excuse of wanting to make her happy. Then don't expect me to leave it at that. I have to make sure her life is ruined,' I said with vengeful lightning.
He laughed loudly. "You are really bad, Dev. She's a woman and you have no mercy for her."
"I don't care. The pain I've given her isn't even worth the pain my family and I have felt. So, if you want to get close to her, it would be great if you helped me to destroy her. Then I will let you do anything to her."
"Anything?"
"Playing around with women, isn't that your hobby?"
"And what if Freya falls in love with me?"
"I don't care as long as you don't," I warned.
"Well, that sounds interesting."
Even though I knew that Jason was never really interested in women, somehow I felt a little worried. I didn't want my revenge to fail just because of him. Making Freya's life miserable was my main goal in marrying her. And I had to make sure she suffered to the point where she felt her life was meaningless.
"Stefanny, come to my office right now," I ordered from the intercom. Right after Jason left my office.
Not long after, she walked into my office and bowed to me.
"Yes, sir. Do you need anything?"
"I need you to find out about what happened to Freya's boutique," I informed her.
"Your wife's boutique?"
"Hm."
"Did something happen to Miss Freya's boutique? Oh, sorry, I just...."
"I heard that someone manipulated the building she rented. So I'm asking you to track it down for me. Let me know as soon as you find out the information."
