Chapter 360 The Surgery Was Successful

Chapter 363 Looking for Trouble

Vivian was smiling as she stepped into the International Hotel elevator one second, and the next second her smile completely vanished.

When she got back to her room, she kicked off her high heels. "Damn it! Why is everyone in Everett's family so difficult to deal with! Shit!"

"Anneliese was a bitch. She had to donate all those patents even after she died. Now her daughter Naomi won't listen either. Damn it, damn it!"

Vivian threw everything she could see onto the floor. After venting for a while, she finally dialed a number.

"She won't go abroad with me. Won't Everett talk yet? The witch doctors must have their methods for treatment!"

"Tell him if he doesn't talk, his daughter will die. I'll definitely kill Naomi! In the most cruel way possible!"

"Jonathan? So what if she's Jonathan's wife? There are always people who want money more than their lives!"

"Didn't you find two patients who are dying soon? Have them pretend to be patients and go to the hospital. They must die right in front of Naomi. Let's see if she can still stay in the country!"

"If she won't come with me, I'll send her to prison! Tell Everett whether Naomi lives or dies is up to him!"

Vivian was so angry she forgot to close the door properly.

Grace had just finished arranging things with her business partners and was about to go downstairs when she happened to hear Vivian's words.

Grace didn't know who Everett was, but she clearly heard "Naomi's" name.

This person wanted to kill Naomi?

Thinking about what had been happening to Naomi recently, Grace didn't hesitate to book the room across from Vivian's.

Naomi and Jonathan were both swamped right now. If someone really wanted to harm Naomi, she needed to figure out who it was first.

When she got to the room, Grace didn't close the door. Instead, she left it slightly open, constantly listening for any movement across the hall.

While listening, she called her private investigator friend.

"Can you check who booked room 1621 at the International Hotel? Yes, you must find out her identity."

"Don't worry, I won't short you on payment. I have a feeling she's going to harm my friend."

"No, Naomi is busy as hell right now...!"

Grace's door was forcefully pushed open, then someone covered her mouth and she passed out.

In her last moment of consciousness, she pressed the emergency number.

Naomi, who was still looking at Everett's medical records, suddenly received a call from Grace, but it only lasted a few seconds before the other party hung up.

Naomi found it strange and called back, only to hear Grace's somewhat odd voice say, "I dialed the wrong number."

"Grace, do you have a cold?" Naomi asked, puzzled.

The other person just made a sound of acknowledgment. "I'm going to rest now."

Naomi felt something was off about Grace. Her speech was also much faster than usual. But thinking Grace wasn't feeling well, Naomi didn't pay much attention and just sent a message.

[Grace, I'll have someone send you medicine in a bit. If you still don't feel better, come to the hospital. I'm at the hospital.]

Before Grace could reply, someone pushed open the office door.

"Ms. Kennedy, two terminal cancer patients have barged in, saying they absolutely need you to treat them, or they'll die here."

Lester was gritting his teeth in anger. "There are too many reporters outside. Deputy General Lopez can't stop them either. If the hospital doesn't let them in, our reputation will be ruined."

Naomi took a deep breath. "They're up to no good. Let's go see."

Even if she had a way to cure cancer, she believed most patients were afraid of her—afraid she wouldn't treat them.

Online, plenty of people wanted to morally blackmail Naomi. She received at least several thousand emails begging for help every day, and her Twitter DMs were full of people pleading for her to save their lives.

But there was only one Naomi. She was the only witch doctor left. Whoever she saved or didn't save would be wrong, so she chose to save none of them.

Those who dared to cause trouble at the hospital now were either truly dying or, more likely, sent by someone.

Vivian's face flashed before her eyes again.

Vivian always looked dignified and gracious, never appearing to pressure Naomi.

But Naomi could always see the arrogance and resentment in Vivian's eyes. Naomi didn't like Vivian. Not at all.

Naomi lowered her eyes, thinking of a strategy.

When she arrived at the first-floor lobby, she heard a man and woman shouting.

"I made an appointment for treatment ages ago. Why aren't you treating me first? Why?"

"William has money, so we have to die because we don't? That's not fair!"

"Hospitals are places to save lives. If you won't save lives, you don't deserve to be doctors!"

"Then I won't be a doctor." Naomi walked to the center of the crowd and looked around. "Everyone should know that being a doctor wasn't my original profession. I can't save everyone's life. Starting today, I'm resigning from all medical-related positions."

As she spoke, Naomi took off her white coat and handed it to Lester beside her. "I'm just a patient's family member now. Since these two are here to see a doctor, they should register normally and wait for the appropriate doctor to treat them."

No one expected Naomi to say this. The lobby instantly fell silent.

Suddenly someone asked, "So will you still treat William and Lloyd?"

"I'm caring for my grandfather and teacher. Is there a problem with that?" Naomi looked at the person with amusement. "If your parents are sick, you can care for them too, can't you?"

Naomi's implication was that she wouldn't treat other patients. Everyone was stunned.

Seeing this, Lester quickly nodded. "Ms. Kennedy has already terminated her contract with the hospital. Ms. Kennedy only agreed to help me out of consideration for her husband. Now that so many problems have come up, it's perfectly reasonable for her not to be a doctor anymore!"

Lester raised his voice considerably. "Since you want to see a doctor, please register first."

"No! Only she can save me. Why won't she? Why?" The middle-aged woman Una suddenly roared and lunged at Naomi.

Gabriel immediately blocked Una, preventing her from getting closer.

But Una kept shouting.

"She's a doctor, she's a witch doctor, she should treat me! Aren't we cancer patients human too?"

"Why won't she treat me? She has to cure me!"

"We've already been waiting in line, so we should..."

"You've been waiting in line?" Naomi scoffed. "Fine, what's your name? The International Research Department where General Harrington works did recruit twenty cancer volunteers, but five have already died before the experiment even started. There are fifteen left now. Are you one of them? Give me your name."

Una was stumped. "I, I? Waiting in line? This?"

Una instinctively looked at Cody beside her, whose face had turned iron-blue. Cody snorted coldly. "Who cares if we're in line or not? You're a doctor, you must treat us! Otherwise, you're committing murder!"

"So have you registered?" Naomi asked again.

Before Cody could speak, Naomi pointed toward the side door. "If you're really here to see a doctor, you can register online directly. People who have registered have already entered different departments through the side door."

"You two aren't designated cooperative patients from the research department, and you haven't registered, yet you're demanding I treat you?"

"Are you here to see a doctor, or are you here to cause trouble?"
