Chapter 216 Sarah’s Wedding
Chapter 216 Sarah’s Wedding
~Sarah’s POV~
The music started and my legs went shaky.
I stood at the end of the aisle holding my dad’s arm. The church was warm, light coming through the stained-glass windows in soft colors. White roses lined the pews. Candles burned at the altar and the whole place smelled like flowers and something sweet.
Then I saw him.
My pilot. My soon-to-be husband.
He stood at the altar in a sharp black suit, tie slightly crooked the way it always was. His eyes found me the second I appeared and they didn’t move. He looked nervous. Then he smiled. That crooked smile that always did something to my stomach.
My dad squeezed my arm. “You ready?”
I nodded.trembling with nervousness
Everyone watched as we walked down the aisle but I only saw him. When I reached him he held my hand like it was nothing.
“You look so beautiful.” His voice was low, just for me. “I’ve never seen anything more perfect.”
My cheeks went warm. “Your tie is crooked,” I whispered back.
He laughed quietly and the pastor cleared his throat.
The ceremony moved fast. Vows. Promises. My hands shook through all of it but his grip stayed steady the whole time. When the pastor smiled and said the words the whole church seemed to pull in a breath.
“You may kiss your bride.”
He didn’t wait.
One hand on my waist. One hand on my face. He kissed me slow and deep and I almost lost my balance. The crowd was loud but I couldn’t really hear them. It was just him. His warmth. The way he kissed me like he’d been holding it in for years.
When we pulled apart I was smiling so hard my face hurt.
“I love you,” he said against my forehead.
“I love you too.”
We turned to face everyone and the noise hit us like a wave. I spotted Lora in the front row already crying, so hard her mascara looked messy,Chard sat beside her with his arm around her shoulders. The twins were next to them in their little outfits looking like they were about to cause problems. Silas and Paul sat a few rows back in matching navy suits, with their shoulders touching.
Outside the garden was filled with fairy lights and white flowers. The sun was going down, everything soft orange and pink. Guests moved around with drinks and laughter while the photographer pulled us in every direction.
I found Lora near a small fountain. She looked beautiful in her blue dress, eyes still a little red.
“You really did it,” she said. “You married your pilot.”
I laughed. “I still can’t believe it.”
She took my hand. “You deserve all of this. After everything. Through all the mess with Victor and Miranda and everything else, you never left my side. I don’t think I would’ve made it without you.”
My eyes filled with tears. “You showed up for me too,” I told her. “Even when your own life was falling apart. That’s not something I forget.”
She pulled me into a hug. I held on.
“Thank you for always believing in me,” I said into her shoulder.
She pulled back and looked at me. “Forever.”
The twins tore past us throwing flower petals with zero regard for anyone’s drinks. We both watched them.
“They’ve been waiting all day to do that,” Lora said.
“I know. I let them.”
When bouquet toss time came I lined everyone up, turned my back and threw it without looking. There was a commotion behind me. When I turned around Silas was standing there holding the bouquet looking like he wanted the ground to open up. Paul stood next to him grinning.
The crowd cheered as everyone shouted“You’re next.” “Silas knelt down to propose already.” “Paul’s been waiting.”
Even Chard smiled from across the garden and gave Silas a single nod. Silas looked at Paul. Paul’s eyes were soft. Silas looked like he couldn’t decide whether to laugh or cry. He did neither. He just stood there smiling with flowers in his hand.
I walked over. “Congratulations. The universe has spoken.”
“This is your fault,” he said.
Paul kissed his cheek and said loud enough for everyone to hear, “Don’t worry. I’ll make an honest man out of him eventually.”
The crowd burst into laughter..
Later I stood near the dance floor with Lora watching Chard talk quietly with Silas by one of the tables. Chard put a hand on his shoulder and smiled it's about time you be with someone man Silas smiled.
“They look good together,” Lora said.
“They do.”
She looked at me. “I’m really happy for you Sarah. You found someone who sees you. Who chooses you. That’s not common.”
Across the floor the twins were playing as their clothes looked so messy, one on each arm. He looked over at me and winked.
“I know,” I said. “I know exactly how lucky I am.”
Lora shook her head. “Not lucky. Loved. There’s a difference.”
I squeezed her hand.
The lights were warm. The music was good. Everyone I loved was in one place. Lora. Chard. The twins. Silas and Paul who is now part of us.
The road to get here had been messy. There were still things we were all carrying.
But tonight we were happy.
And that was enough.
