Chapter 90

"She's my wife," Thorn threw at Cassiuz. "As long as she gives me her consent, I can do anything I want, and knowing my Cinnamon, she'll agree to it immediately."

"La. La. La. La. La." Cassiuz said in a sing-song voice while covering his ears like he didn't want to hear it. "Blah! Blah! Thorn is a fucktard! Fucktard!"

Thorn just sighed at Cassiuz before he sat on the visitor's sofa closest to his wife's room. Knowing the Amazonas, it'll take a couple of hours before they finish gossiping—er, talking.

And because Cassiuz disappeared again after his la la la scene, Thorn took out his phone from his jeans pocket and sent a chat to Yilmaz.

To: Free Notary I think my wife will need a lawyer soon. It's to severe ties with her adopted parents. Can you represent her?

Yilmaz instantly replied.

from: Free Notary Nashoasnknbusgd9ubwdokndwpqwihiw Thorn frowned at what he just read. The fuck is this?

To: Free Notary Is that a coded message? ??

Yilmaz replied that this time, it was not gibberish. 'No. My little monster got a hold of my phone.'

Thorn grimaced, then replied. 'Anyway, could you represent my wife? Her adopted parents suggested the idea: I think they'll cooperate.'

Yilmaz called instead of chatting back, and he immediately spoke without saying 'hi' or 'hello'. "We'll file for rescission of adoption. Only the adoptee has the sole right to severe the legal ties created by the adoption. That's why her adopted parents suggested it because the adopter cannot seek the rescission of the adoption; they could only disinherit her. If they'll cooperate like you said, we have a few grounds to choose from, and I'm telling you right now, those grounds are not pretty. I don't think they'll agree to it."

"What are the grounds?" Thorn asked, frowning and curious.

Yilmaz answered without a pause. "Repeated physical and verbal maltreatments by the adopter despite having undergone counselling; an attempt on the life of the adoptee; sexual assault or violence committed against the adoptee; and abandonment and failure to comply with parental obligation."

Thorn picked up the coin. "Damn..."

"Yep," Evren tsked. "If they're still willing to cooperate, then they must be desperate to cut ties with your wife."

Thorn sighed. "I will talk to my husband first; if he agrees, I will take you with his parents so you can explain to them what will happen. Anyway, how much should I pay you?"

Evren chuckled. My little monster loves your restaurant, so I want a year of free meals for my little monster. Why is the food at your restaurant so expensive, huh? "

"Because it's delicious and we have a lot of servings?" Thorn answered with a smug smile.

Evren tsked. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. I want a free meal for my little monster."

"Deal."

"Good. Deal. I have to go; my daughter just raised her eyebrows at me. I'm going to sue her."

"I'll sue you back, Daddy!"

Thorn laughed when he heard Yilmaz's son on the other line. At that time, he was the one to kill the call because the two were already answering.

When Thorn ended the call, out of nowhere, Cassiuz appeared with soda in his hand.

"How do you do that?" Thorn asked Cassiuz, genuinely curious. "Disappearing and appearing without a trace." Cassiuz grinned, and Thorn immediately added, "And don't say it's magic."

Cassiuz's grin disappeared, and he tsked. "You're no fun. I trained to be untraceable."

"Uh-huh."

Cassiuz tsked again; he was so annoyed at Thorn's 'I don't believe you' face. "It's the truth!"

"Uh-huh."

"Whatever." Cassiuz sat on the visitor's chair before drinking his soda.

Silence engulfed the two before Thorn broke it.

"You really won't tell my wife that you are her brother?"

Cassiuz nodded. "I told you, I don't want her to be in constant danger."

"Maybe we could keep it a secret from your enemies?" Thorn suggested. "I mean, you can stay as her client as your front. No need to publicly announce it. Just keep it to yourselves, just between you two and the people you trust and closest to you."

Cassiuz glanced at Thorn. "Why are you pushing me to come clean?"

"Because I want my wife to have a family other than me," said Thorn. "She always wanted a family. Imagine how happy she'll be if she finds out that you are her brother, that she's not alone, that she has someone to count on other than me. Don't you want to see her smile at you and look at you like you matter?"

Cassiuz let out a long sigh. "I'll think about it."

"Good," Thorn said, leaning on the visitor's chair. "And go visit my parents, will you? They're very worried about you 'til now. They are your godparents after all."

"I'll do that, but you have to accompany me."

Thorn's face turned sour immediately. "Hell no!"

"Then I won't visit them. I'm a very shy and sensitive person, you know."

"Fuck you."

"Hey!" Cassiuz immediately complained. "Cussing your brother-in-law is very rude."

Thorn was about to answer when something caught his attention from the corner of his eye.

How could he not notice those crazy friends of his when almost half of them were walking towards him? The bastards even had balloons, but it was the 'happy Valentines balloon that made him frown.

"The fuck is that?" Thorn asked his friends with a wrinkled face while looking at the happy Valentine's balloons they were carrying.

Sanford was taught everything.

"He bought it," Knight told him.

"Hey!" Khairro's face immediately changed. "I'm a very busy Police officer, and I just became a Dad, so excuse me! That's the only balloon I could find."

"We're here to visit your wife," said Cali. "My wife informed us of what happened. We immediately came here. We thought you passed out from fear and dread."

Thorn showed his middle finger at his friends. "The Amazons are inside."

"That's okay," said Train, "we have become brave now. It's not like we're interrupting their girl's talk, right?"

No one answered; everyone was vigilant.

"Let's go in," said Lash, just daring. "Maybe those people won't be angry. My wife is a very sensible woman."

Everyone nodded before walking towards Thorn's wife's private hospital room. It was Knight who twisted open the doorknob, and every Amazon inside was frowning at the balloon Sanford was holding. And when Sanford saw the frown and the stares, he let go of the balloon and looked away, like he was pretending that it wasn't him who was holding the happy Valentine's balloon.

"I am so happy that my wife is not here," Khairro muttered.

and then Knight broke the tension by walking towards his wife with a wide smile. "My queen! I missed you."

And then the rest followed Knight's jolliness and went to their respective wives. While Thorn went to Cassia's side, who was beaming with happiness as she looked at everyone inside the room, Deep inside Cassia, she was overwhelmed with happiness while looking at everyone who came to visit her and Thorn. I'm really glad I married Thorn. I get to be part of this family. A family that was not connected by blood but by friendship, love, loyalty, and respect.

Indeed, family wasn't always about blood.
