Chapter 184
Chapter 184
"Mr. Brown, what are you doing?"
The middle-aged man was already trembling with fear the moment he felt that terrifying killing intent.
"Isn't it obvious?" William smiled dangerously, his eyes sharp as a blade as he stared them down. "Tell me — who sent you?"
"Didn't you send us here yourself? We came to clean up the place." The man was scared, but managed to force the words out.
"I don't want that garbage. I want to know your real purpose. If you're not going to tell me the truth, you might end up just like them."
William pointed to the bodies ahead. They showed no obvious wounds, but the thick, nauseating smell of blood was enough to make anyone's skin crawl.
The middle-aged man shuddered and quickly said, "We really are from the cleanup crew! The FBI has been seriously short-staffed lately, so they sent us over."
The FBI short-staffed? Could it be because of the Greasley situation?
William rubbed his chin, a flicker of thought crossing his eyes.
"So how do you prove you're actually from the cleanup crew?" William narrowed his eyes and pressed further.
"My name is Reid McDowell, badge number 22421. You can verify it with anyone you know at the FBI — they'll confirm it."
Reid knew that if he didn't lay everything out right now, William would kill them without a second thought.
William let go of the knife, pulled out his phone, and called his FBI contacts to check.
Sure enough, everything the man said checked out.
He put the phone down and patted Reid on the shoulder. "Sorry about that. I've been on edge. You know how bad things are around here right now."
There were too many enemies watching them in Atlanta. If these guys had actually been Greasley's people, the consequences would have been devastating.
"Mr. Brown, your caution was completely reasonable — just maybe try a less extreme approach next time." Reid let out a long breath, relieved to have made it out alive.
"At least it worked, didn't it?" William waved them off. "I'll leave the rest to you."
Reid and the others exchanged glances, the shock and fear in each other's eyes plain to see.
They never expected William to be this terrifying.
But there was no time to dwell on it — they got to work cleaning up the blood and mess.
An hour later, all the bodies had been removed and the basement was spotless.
"Well then, Mr. Brown, we'll be heading out." Reid gave William a respectful bow and got in the car to leave.
"Good work." William waved them off and watched the vehicle drive away.
Once they were out of the neighborhood, Reid finally exhaled. "Unbelievable. The Warden of Celestial Prison is that sharp. If we hadn't had our FBI cover, we'd all be dead back there."
"The bodies are safely recovered now. What's next?" the driver asked, glancing back.
"Take the bodies back to the FBI first — those people are useless now, they're already dead. We can't blow our cover yet. If Mr. Harper finds out, we're done."
Reid lit a cigarette. They were Greasley's deep-cover agents inside the FBI. Getting exposed meant death.
The FBI had plenty of lunatics in it. Blowing their cover was an absolute last resort.
"Let's just hope Mr. Harper gets to Atlanta soon."
"Shouldn't be long. William's already back — he'll definitely come."
William had to die. For the sake of revenge. If they'd had the strength, they would've made a move the moment they saw him.
"Strength really is everything."
Just thinking back to the suffocating pressure William had put off earlier — it didn't feel like something a living person should be capable of.
What they didn't know was that William had already planted tiny listening devices on them before they left.
Back in his room, William listened to the whole conversation with a knowing smile.
Just as he'd thought. These people were Greasley's.
Chasing them down now wasn't practical. He'd have to get someone else to handle it.
With that in mind, he picked up his phone and called Damon again.
"Mr. Brown, something else?" A drowsy voice came through the line — sounded like he'd just woken up.
Damon was exhausted. He'd barely fallen back asleep after being disturbed earlier, and now William was calling again.
"Those people I had you look into — they're all working for Greasley."
That snapped Damon fully awake.
He took a slow breath. "So they're all FBI traitors?"
"That's right. I was going to deal with them myself, but I figured I shouldn't be sticking my nose into your bureau's internal affairs."
Getting involved would only cause problems and spook any other moles still hiding inside.
Better to let the FBI handle their own.
Damon exhaled slowly. "Understood. Thank you, Mr. Brown."
He hung up and got straight to work.
He changed into clean clothes and headed out.
He wasn't in Atlanta, but William had handed him this on a silver platter — not handling it personally would be unacceptable.
As for William, he had no interest in dealing with any of that. He strolled outside, relaxed.
Nora and Zara should be calling any minute now.
Sure enough, his phone rang the moment he stepped out.
Nora's voice came through: "William, we're about done here and getting ready to eat. Where are you?"
"On my way," William said. "Where are you? I'll come pick you up."
Nora told him straight: "World Trade Center, west side. Get here fast — something feels off here."
"Got it. Be there soon."
William hung up, tossed his phone aside, and drove straight toward the World Trade Center.
"So Greasley's people already know about Zara. They're making another move on them?"
