Chapter 82 Lizzy’s Deadly Game
DAVID
The faint rustle of leaves couldn’t drown out the storm raging in my head. My wife my Bella had been manipulated right under my nose. That gardener, a snake in the grass, had slithered into my home, whispering lies, feeding her doubts, and I hadn't even noticed.
“Why did you act like that to him?” Bella’s soft voice cut through my spiraling thoughts. Her brow furrowed, and her lips pressed into a thin line as she waited for my answer.
I forced a chuckle, masking the burning anger under my skin. “Nothing. Let’s just say he’s a bit too friendly with my woman.”
Her eyes narrowed, suspicion flickering in their depths, but she sighed and turned away. “You’re impossible.” Without another word, she strode toward the house, leaving me alone in the garden.
I followed her upstairs, my footsteps quiet on the polished floors. She stood by the window, bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun, a hand resting protectively on her rounded belly.
“How are my babies doing?” I asked softly, stepping closer and pressing a kiss to her stomach.
She arched a brow. “Babies? It’s just one, David. Not two or three.” She slapped my hand playfully, but the faint smile tugging at her lips betrayed her amusement.
I grinned. “What if we threw a party? For our unborn child?”
Excitement lit up her face, but just as quickly, she smothered it. “I don’t think it’s necessary.”
I frowned, tilting my head. “Why not?”
“I already look fat,” she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Her words hit me harder than they should have, and I had to bite back a laugh. “You’re beautiful, Bella. You’ve never looked better.”
She shot me a skeptical look but didn’t argue. Instead, her excitement returned, her eyes bright. “When do you want to have it?”
I felt it again that presence hovering just beyond the door frame. My gaze darted toward the shadow flickering in the hallway. I smirked. Got you.
“How about in two days?” I suggested, loud enough for the intruder to hear.
Bella nodded, her attention drifting back to the window. My focus, however, remained on the faint sound of retreating footsteps. Let the games begin, I thought.
LIZZY
The sharp scent of spilled wine filled the air as I stared at the broken glass on the floor, my chest heaving with anger. My hand throbbed, a thin line of blood trickling from the cut I’d gotten in my outburst, but I barely noticed.
“Lizzy, are you okay?” Andrew’s voice crackled through the phone, a mix of concern and fear.
I pressed the phone closer to my ear. “Prepare the potion,” I hissed, my voice low and deadly. “It’s time Bella had a little accident with her ex.”
There was a pause, then a hesitant reply. “You mean like the one I made for you and David?”
“Yes, but stronger this time. I want it potent enough to ensure David sees everything every touch, every moan.” The thought of it sent a surge of satisfaction through me, momentarily cooling the rage burning in my veins.
“When do we do it?”
I rolled my eyes. “At the party, of course. You think I’d waste such an opportunity?”
Andrew’s voice dropped. “David is suspicious. He’s been watching me. If he finds out…”
I laughed, a sharp, bitter sound. “If David suspected you, you’d already be six feet under. Trust me, he’s not as soft as you think.”
Ending the call, I let my phone drop onto the couch and stared at my reflection in the darkened window. My lips curled into a smile, cruel and unrelenting.
This party will be the end of her, I thought, the image of Bella broken and humiliated playing vividly in my mind.
David would finally see her for what she truly was weak, undeserving, and a mistake.
Bella won’t know what hit her, Lizzy whispered, running her finger along the rim of her empty glass. "And when she does, it’ll already be too late.”
