Clean Slate
“E-Excuse me,” she faltered doing her best to abstain from going haywire.
He touched her arm intending for her to rethink any hostile instincts or worst distancing herself from him.
“No,” she snarled nudging away his hand. “Yes.” He advanced holding her in place.
“Gina, it’s how I accessed your messages the chip copies the data stored. I had it inserted while you were isolating yourself.”
“Damn. I thought you just peeked through my phone. You’re actually telling me you went all crazy high-tech Stalker.”
“I know, it was stupid and I’m the idiot for doing it. Please, let us get pass it and be done. ”
“Easy for to say,” she retorted shaking out of his hold.
His chiseled face creased together his repenting sapphires searching for her absolution. She scoffed beaming at him peevishly. “Be positive it doesn’t ever happen again. Or, we just can’t work.” She stood her ground. Solemn, indicating he shouldn’t dare take it lightly or what he did either.
“I swear. I don’t want any more secrets between us so that’s why I had to come clean.” He apprised causing her to wobble inside. They haven’t even scratched the surface of creating a clean slate. Didn’t exactly believe it might be remotely be attainable in her pessimistic opinion. She released a forbearing sigh huddling his chest.
“Thank you,” she mumbled lending him her empathy however overboard he took the presumptuous and obsessive flaws. He smiled reassuringly stroking her nape compassionately letting out a quiet, reposing hum.
His cell sent jingled quivers through the seams of his jeans pocket. “Oh brother,” he puffed wrenching the disruptive mobile out. “It’s no problem I have to go use the bathroom, anyway.” She said untangling from him and left the main interior in haste to go relieve her kidney. He ogled at her scurrying like a female cheetah out of his sight. Soon you’ll be running towards me, Hot Legs.
“Could you start the kettle for me while you’re there I feel for some tea.” Gina uttered, unpinning her wrist watch and dragging the socks from her clammy ankles.
Teeny cuts of dry grass were dispersed throughout the front of her hair that’s she gets for making a bed out of them. Of course, it’s a measly downside for lying flat and seeing the birds and bombs of cumulus clouds so pleasantly.
Flushing the toilet she went over the shiny sink plucking the cuts of grass from her hair. The nippy water spurted into the bowl. She scrubbed her hands with the liquid soap before rinsing her sweat glistening face. “What a couple of months.” She rumbled ripping a piece of tissue. What a business trip. She had gone from undertaking a tempting job offer to engaging in a regular fling with Alex to more than a fling to constant fits to constant refusing him. But ending with a breathless spiral of tinkles, tinkles, tinkles, she heaved lifting her head to the ceiling. Can I really do this? She tried contemplating the pros and cons but there’s none of either there’s only her protective icy walls collapsing and her incessant lack of faith for the outcome of him and her together to result in anything other than destruction.
This was not suppose to happen, he was not suppose happen she never saw it coming not from miles away or when she first began working at Forester Oil. She sometimes thinks it must be a dream, all of it. But dreams of this nature were non-existent for her. She was really here about to submit to the same blue-eyed devil. She thought she would move on from him by now as she did with the rest. Devastatingly handsome millionaires who had a right-hand ex-Navy seal at his and private luxury jets at his disposal weren’t on the low count her. So, why was he? Why was he so different that despite the oppositions of her better judgment and ramblings of her inner voice, did she want him? And not the way she usually composed. She wanted him in treasure chest that’ll always be there to unlock and find waiting, hers.
The shrilling sound of Alex’s infuriated voice made her shudder against the sink.
“You must fucking joking. Who is he?”
She heard from outside following the violent clatter something definitely breakable.
“Don’t give that pile of garbage. What’d you take me for a naïve boy?” His shrills went on. She bolted into the main room where she saw him speaking on his cell around the kitchenette while a pink crockery lamp was shattered on the floor.
“No. You listen to me. I had in mind to fly to meet with you and you’re fucking partners tomorrow morning and drop this shit on me now?” She was perplexed by his strident inquisition. She remained hushed seeing his hands pinched into hard fist and his features distorted with irk. Who’s he talking to? Why is he getting so extremely pissed? Gina stood there wondering.
His left fist slammed vigorously on the solid steel countertop. Oh no, her prying eyes widened rushing to him. Whatever he was complaining about wasn’t worth busting his bones over. He had to stop and pull himself together. The man was losing his temper and turning into a self-abuser. Heck, if she’ll let happen in front of her. She didn’t care. Screw whoever he was bitching to. He spotted her and immediately raised his index from his fist. She halted as he signaled her to wait until he was finish. “I understand.” He replied curt quickly hanging up making a growl and hurling the iPhone to the fluffy cushions on the sofa. “Ah…fucking bastard,” he cursed hitting the steel with the palm of his hand.
“What’s going on?” She strode to the kitchenette. “Hey, look at me damn it.” She told him drawing back his shoulder so he would face her directly. His eyes were dim and blazing sullen, his nostrils wheezing. He grinded his teeth using all his might to hold on to his self-control. It became easier when her attentive hands cupped his jaws with care.
