Chapter 192 Catherine’s POV
Chapter 192 Catherine’s POV
A gentle warm breeze rustled through the oak trees, carrying with it the sweet intoxicating scent of white hydrangeas, garden roses and fresh lavender. I stood behind the glass doors of the grand conservatory, my hand resting lightly against the smooth frame.
Outside, the open air pavilion was filled with light. Rows of white chairs were packed with only family and close friends, beside me, Autumn smoothed the skirt of her gown one last time. She looked radiant as the ivory silk of her dress caught the sunlight, her face glowing with a serene happiness that took a long, painful year to rebuild.
"Ready?" Autumn whispered, breathless, a beautiful smile breaking across her face. "More than ready," I replied softly, my heart beating with a steady rhythm. The glass doors slid open, and the opening of the string quartet surged into the crisp air, together, side by side, we stepped into the flower strewn aisle. The crowd rose to their feet, but the sea of faces blurred as my gaze locked onto the end of the altar.
Tyler and Jared were standing beneath a grand canopy of white blossoms and woven ivy. Jared stood tall and imposing in a sharp, dark charcoal tuxedo and his eyes fixed were entirely on Autumn, his protective wall had completely melted away replaced by an expression of pure pride as he watched the bride walk toward him.
Tyler stood next to him, he wore a tailored navy tuxedo that fitted his broad shoulders perfectly, his hair was neat, his jaw and his dark eyes burned with an intense heat that made my breath hitch. As we reached the steps of the pavilion, Richard stepped forward from the front row.
He wore a dark suit, his face soft with a mature, peaceful warmth. He offered his left arm to me and his right to Autumn, guiding us both up the final steps. A few feet away, Summer sat with the twins, wiping tears from her eyes as Leo and Maya clapped their little hands in delight.
Richard looked at Tyler then at Jared before stepping back to join his family. Autumn stepped up to stand before Jared, taking his broad hands in hers, I turned to face Tyler, stepping into the space side beside him, "you take my breath away, Catherine," Tyler whispered, his voice low and laced with a tender warmth that sent a cooling shiver down my spine.
"You look handsome too, Mr. Tyler," he murmured back, a soft laugh escaping my lips as he took my hands, his fingers lacing tightly through mine. His touch was warm and steady. The officiant's voice washed over the pavilion, talking about endurance, truth and the quiet courage it took to choose love, no matter the circumstances that arose.
"We gather here today not merely to join four lives," the officiant declared softly, his voice echoing over the quiet estate, "but to celebrate the victory of light over shadow, and the strength of love that refuses to break."
When the time came for the vows, Jared spoke first. His voice was deep, calm and filled with a promise that made Autumn’s tears spill over her eyelashes, he spoke of protection, respect and a lifetime to spend while cherishing her... the woman who had fought her way back.
Autumn sniffed a bit, waving her eyes trying her best not to cry, "thank you for never giving up on me, thank you for finding me when I was at my lowest and reminding me that I was never alone in a world that I thought I couldn't survive. Thank you for teaching me love and how to love, I will continue to love and cherish you until my last breath."
Then, Tyler squeezed my hands, stepping just a bit closer, "Catherine," Tyler began, his soft eyes locking onto mine, completely ignoring the crowd around us, "I used to think so many things about us, I felt my purpose was to keep you safe but in the dark, when the whole world seemed to falling apart, I realized that protecting you wasn't just a duty but it was my entire heart."
"I don't care about the years behind us and I also don't care about the rules either. I will love you for the woman you are, the burden that you carry will no longer be yours but ours and I look forward to the future that we're going to build together... Today, tomorrow and for the rest of my life, I am yours."
A tear skipped down my cheek, I inhaled softly then let a calm exhale, "and I am yours, Tyler," I whispered back, my voice clear and steady, "you showed me what it means to be truly loved. I give you my heart, completely and forever."
"By the power vested in me," the officiant announced, a brilliant smile lighting up his face, "I now pronounce you husbands and wives, you may kiss your brides!"
Jared pulled Autumn into his arms lifting her slightly as he slowed their vows with a passionate kiss that drew loud cheers from the gallery. Tyler pulled me close by the waist, his broad hand cupping the back of my neck and brought his lips down onto mine. The kiss was sweet, deep and electric that it sent waves of butterflies down my stomach.
When Tyler pulled back, his eyes were shining with a bright light, he smiled down at me, wrapping his arm securely around my waist. We turned together to face our family and friends as cheers erupted across the lawn. Richard was standing, clapping proudly beside Summer who still couldn't hold her tears.
The twins threw white rose petals into the air , smiling brightly. Beside us, Autumn and Jared were laughing, hand in hand, stepping into the sunlight. I leaned my head against Tyler's shoulder as we walked down the aisle together, the cool afternoon breeze catching the edge of my veil.
Finally, the long terrifying night was finally over, I was finally building my own story, my own path, a brand new chapter of a well deserved happiness.
