Chapter 27

Samaira rested her hand on top of his and closed her eyes as she felt his lips on her forehead. It took her a few moments to process what the man just told her. It was crazy to wrap her head around what he mentioned.

“Wait, Azrael, but this means you’ll be out of a job,” She frowned, sure he was a billionaire but that didn’t mean he’d stop working now right?

“What? Won’t you love me if I’m jobless?” Azrael raised a brow at her, his hands on her shoulders as he looked at her. Samaira rolled her eyes and replied, “No, I didn’t say that. I just- are you sure you’re choosing the right thing here?” She didn’t want him to have any regrets at all.

“Of course I am, I want you, Samaira,” Azrael smiled at her. “Don’t worry about my job. They own the company but not my ideas- future ideas at that,” He assured her, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear.

“Are you sure about this?” She asked again, moving her hands over his arms. Azrael stared into her eyes for a moment, the way he looked into those chocolate orbs it was as if he was looking for something.

“Of course I am,” He smiled and said softly, “I love you, Samaira.”

“I love you too,” She whispered and was pulled in for a deep kiss. Her hands raked through his hair whilst his hands were on her lower back, slowly moving down.

“Azrael we have to get to work,” Samaira said, tilting her head a little more to the side when she felt his warm lips trailing their way over her skin.

“Work is not important now,” He whispered in her ear, picking her up and resting her on the table.

“If you say so,” She smirked, twirling his tie between her fingers before tugging him closer by it.

“This is probably not the after talk you’d want to have but what are you going to do now? Career-wise?” Samaira asked, exiting the bathroom with a towel around her body. She walked around searching for her clothes then remembered they were downstairs scattered on the living room's floor. Samaira pouted and turned to Azrael.

“I’ll start my own company, basically the same shit as Bright tech but with my rules now,” Azrael explained, following behind her and picking out a new suit. He was too lazy to go downstairs and get the previous one he wore.

“Can’t they sue you or something?” She wondered, leaning back against a dresser and watched as the man got ready. She didn’t know what exactly about him getting ready was so interesting, but she sure loved to watch him get ready.

“Nope, the new ideas I have are completely different from the current one. I just have to work a little harder now on the design. I didn’t think this would be happening soon,” Azrael explained, pulling the belt through each hoop.

“Sorry about that, is there anything I can do to help?” She wondered, her eyes focused on his bare torso, watching as his muscle moved with each movement he made.

“There is,” Azrael mentioned, pulling a polo shirt out of his closet. “I want you to be my data manager,” he said casually.

“What?” She frowned, confused by his request.

“You’ve done so well at Bright tech, I saw as you helped the others and shared your techniques with them, I think you’d be a great help there,” he said truthfully, walking over to her.

“Mhm, I suppose I can do that,” She frowned, thinking about it for a moment. It sure was an upgrade. She watched as he pulled out a knee-length dress from the drawer she had some of her stuff in.

“Don’t worry, the boss pays well. Especially if you sleep with him,” he said with a mischievous look on his face as he walked towards her.

“Oh really?” She raised a brow at him.

“You have no idea,” He muttered and leaned in to kiss her neck.

“Azrael!” She giggled, the feeling of his stubble on her skin making her ticklish. “Babe, we still have to get to work,” Samaira reminded him, her hands on his biceps, trying to pull away from him.

“I quit,” He shrugged, taking Samaira by surprise. She knew he’d do his own thing, but she hadn’t expected him to quit so soon. “I still need to hand in my resignation,” He sighed and let go of her, and walked to put on his cologne.

“Okay, wow,” she said, still surprised, and slipped on the dress. She was too lazy to wear the outfit she wore in the morning.

“If I do that they’ll be forced to pay me throughout the following quarter,” He explained and winked at her. “I don’t need the money but just to piss them off I’ll request it,” He laughed whilst Samaira shook her head and said, “Such a petty bitch.”

“Damn straight,” He smirked, reaching into his pocket and said, “Oh Samaira, I need you to do something for me.”

“What’s up?” She asked, running her fingers through her hair to style it.

“Cash in your billion dollars from the first contract. Well technically it’s already written over, you just have to accept it,” He ordered without a proper explanation.

“Why?” She frowned; she didn’t plan on ever taking it if she was being honest. She was happy with what she had.

“Here I wrote the check a while ago,” Azrael pulled it out of the desk and handed it to her. “I’ll need you to buy a piece of property. I bought it to expand Bright tech but that won’t be happening. I love the location, so I’ll sell it to you through Bright tech as it is in their possession,” He pouted as he spoke, his plans were slightly spoiled but at least he got to adapt to it.

“Why don’t you purchase it yourself?” Samaira wondered, looking at the check. There were so many zeros, and this was practically nothing to this man.

“I can’t buy it because of the company rules, but we are allowed to sell to others,” He led the way downstairs.

“I see, when did you want to do that?”

“Today. I’ll get the papers in order, you put cash in your check and meet me at the office. After it’s handed over the deal takes three hours to be in the act then I’ll hand in my resignation papers,” Azrael replied, picking up her car key and handing it to her. Everything was still scattered around but right now they didn’t have time to clean up.

“Sounds perfect,” She sighed and took the key.

“Oh and pretend still are things fucked between us, that way they won’t see this coming," He asked, opening the door for her.

“Azrael, are you angry at them for what they’ve done?” Samaira wondered. He was thinking this a little too well, heck he already had his plans figured out.

“Very much, but I know I can’t change their mind,” He sighed, locking up the house then turned back to her, looking at her as he spoke. “I just know Deacon won’t do well, he pretends to know things, but he doesn’t.”

“He’s just money driven and that won’t get him far with Bright tech. In fact, I know he’ll ruin the company,” He sighed again, just the thought of Bright tech doing badly hurt him, but he knew it would be happening.

“I see, sorry things came this way,” Samaira said sincerely, no matter what she knew it would hurt him to see the company go down like that.

“It’s ok,” He mumbled, eyes a little furrowed. “I suppose a fresh start would be fit,” He shrugged, starting his car.

“Aren’t you worried the new one won’t do as well?” Samaira blurted out. But it had to be asked. Would he do as well?

“Through tech geeks will know my devices are much better. It’s a very updated, modernized version which will also be customizable, you know people love it when they can customize their things. Also, those fans of mine might follow me wherever I go,” Azrael answered, almost as if he had been thinking about this for a long time now. He considered he wouldn’t get the company but even then he didn’t make any plans yet. It wasn’t until yesterday he had to start considering it.

“I see, I believe in you,” She patted his shoulder.

“Worse comes to worst, I was offered an official modeling career once and I’ll go back to that if I have to,” He teased and winked at her.

“Come on, we should get going, sexy,” She rolled her eyes and turned around, headed for her car.

“Wait,” Azrael pulled her to him by her waist, his other hand cupped her face and leaned down to kiss her deeply, humming into her lips. “I love you,” he told her and pulled away, gently kissing her forehead and letting go of her.

“I love you too,” She pecked his hand and went to her car. Samaira and Azrael both went their separate ways, one heading to the bank whilst the other was going to the company. When Azrael arrived at the company he went straight to his office and went ahead and got the papers in order for Samaira then started working on his resignation letter.

Samaira looked at the check-in in her hand, the date written on it was the day they signed the contract. She sighed and stepped into the bank, doing as Azrael asked of her. It was crazy to wrap her head around. The amount she had to pay was quite a lot but the property for Azrael’s new company was also huge. She gathered everything that was needed at the bank and was finally ready to head to the office.

She arrived at the company and went up the elevator. She kept tapping her nails nervously against the metal railing. The elevator stopped when the door slid open she saw Vincent stepping in. The man’s face went from a smile to a blank expression the moment he saw Samaira. She then remembered Azrael's words to act normal.

“Morning, Mr. Bright,” Samaira greeted, looking briefly at the man.

“Morning,” He replied quickly and harshly. He kept checking the time on his watch like he was in a rush of some sort.

Samaira remained quiet, luckily Vincent jumped off at the following floor whilst Samaira went to the very top. She walked over to the office and saw Azrael busy typing away. She knocked on the door before stepping in.

“Hello,” Samaira greeted as she entered his office and walked to the Tuscan sunset-colored chair and sat down.

“Hey, you good?” He wondered, finally looking up from his computer screen.

“Yep, I got everything,” She let out a loud sigh, her fingers through her hair as she pulled it up in a ponytail.

“Come on then,” He handed her the documents that needed signing. Samaira felt some warmth radiating from the papers indicating he recently printed them out.

“Are you sure nobody else should be signing off on this?” She wondered, reading it briefly.

“Nope, I purchased it. To prevent the company capital to be affected negatively the investments are personally made by the shareholders so if an investment goes wrong it only affects the person who bought the said investment,” Azrael explained, giving her a pen and leaned back in his chair.

“Sounds odd,” She mumbled but shrugged.

“It is but we have protected our company from going through some bad deals,” He chuckled, knowing just how few of those they managed to avoid because of this reason.

“Makes sense,” She muttered as she placed her signature. “And it’s signed,” She handed over the papers.

“Awesome, now go do your work. Or don’t,” He took the documents and checked to see if she put them in all the right places. “I’ll see you after three hours,” He smiled at her.

“Mhm, I think I’ll go work,” Samaira pecked his cheek then took her to leave and went to her desk. Paisley came along and the two ended up chatting a bit and also had some lunch with the others. Paisley was curious to know why she was late but when she saw her walking in with Azrael she understood it immediately. Once the day was over both of them went their separate ways, Samaira could officially update Akira and Emma about what would be happening.

Of course, when that happened Akira and Emma were both surprised but very supportive. It was a huge risk Azrael would be taking but he could afford to do it. The next day everyone in the family knew about him resigning and as for Zoey, she was the last one to find out about the contract. She was hurt that they deceived her, but she was the most upset with Rae. Rae found out through Hendro and hadn’t bothered telling her, ever. Near dinner time Azrael showed up with pizzas for Emma and Akira then took Samaira out for dinner. They went back to that property of his family, and they sat near the creek as they enjoyed their dinner.

“So, I was wondering if you really don’t mind Bright tech going down. Won’t it affect your family?” She wondered, twirling her spaghetti around and took a bite from it.

Azrael took a sip of his grape soda then turned to Samaira and said, “My sister is a lawyer and makes good money. Rae Meadow is close to becoming an official clothing designer and will earn buckets of money. My parents have other property they can't rent out if they need cash. I’m assured they’ll survive.”

“Mhm, ok, just wondering,” She nodded, glad she was assured about that part. She’d hate for things to turn badly for them.

“It’s good that you asked,” He appreciated it and smiled at her. “I think Hendro will help me design the new office,” He mentioned with a mouthful of pasta.

“Have you thought of a name?” She wondered, wiping the red sauce from the side of his mouth.

“Angel tech,” He answered and smiled at her.

“Odd,” Samaira muttered.

“Well, I have the logo, and all figured out- well I Have an idea what it might become,” He explained, taking the last bite of his food and was excited to move onto their dessert. It was a strawberry cheesecake, Samaira picked out.

“I’m excited to see what you’ll make out of it,” The brunette squeezed his hand.

“Oh, I had this person contact me to get into business with,” He remembered. It was only a day since he started making plans and he got a call already! He was happy with that. “I still need to check him out legally and make sure he’s not up to shit,” He added, knowing better than to get into business with someone without knowing their record first.

“Sounds good, who is it?” She wondered, knowing damn well she won’t even know who, but she wanted to ask still.

“Not sure if you know him, Cedric Hill, I doubt you know him,” He shrugged, offering her a fork full of cheesecake but it was as if Samaira saw a ghost, she didn’t move at all. “Are you ok?” Azrael asked worriedly.
