Chapter 192 Sunrise Over Dominion
Chapter 192 Sunrise Over Dominion
The city awakened to the sound of sirens.
Five prototype motorcycles tore through the abandoned industrial district, engines screaming as dawn painted the skyline in pale gold. Zara rode at the front, her visor reflecting the towering silhouette of Dominion Tower growing larger with every second.
Kim’s voice crackled through the comms.
“Operation Sunrise countdown: thirty-two minutes.”
“We’ll make it,” Samuel said, though the tension in his voice betrayed him.
Above them, security drones swarmed into formation.
“There,” Ronan warned.
Three interceptor drones dove from the clouds, their targeting lasers sweeping across the riders.
Ivan accelerated hard.
“I’ll take point!”
He veered left, drawing the drones away from the group. The prototype bike responded instantly, its reinforced chassis absorbing the violent turns as he raced between rusted cargo containers.
Explosions erupted behind him.
Zara glanced back just long enough to see Ivan launch his motorcycle up a collapsed loading ramp. The first drone collided with the structure in a burst of fire, while the second clipped the ground and spiraled into a warehouse.
The third locked onto Ivan.
“Ivan, break right!” Samuel shouted.
Too late.
The drone fired.
The blast struck the rear of Ivan’s bike, sending it tumbling across the pavement. Sparks and debris scattered through the air.
“Ivan!” Zara yelled.
Static answered.
Ronan’s voice became grim. “We keep moving.”
Zara clenched the handlebars.
Leaving someone behind felt wrong, but Ivan had known the risk. He had chosen to buy them time.
The riders burst onto the elevated expressway leading directly toward Dominion Tower. Traffic had already been evacuated. Barricades blocked every entrance, and armed security units lined the roadway ahead.
“Ambush,” Samuel muttered.
Ronan pointed toward a maintenance ramp descending beneath the highway.
“Down there!”
They dropped into the underpass just as gunfire erupted overhead. Bullets sparked against the concrete walls, but the narrow passage protected them from the worst of the attack.
Kim checked the archive status.
“Upload package is ready. The moment we connect to the broadcast hub, the files go public.”
“What exactly is in there?” Zara asked.
“Everything,” Kim replied. “Black Ridge, the missing riders, illegal experiments, council authorizations, witness testimonies… and your mother’s final report.”
Zara’s chest tightened.
“My mother left a report?”
“Yes. She recorded it hours before she disappeared.”
The underpass ended at a service tunnel beneath Dominion Tower. Massive ventilation fans roared overhead, drowning out the distant chaos of the city.
Ronan stopped beside a reinforced access door.
“This leads directly into the broadcast complex.”
Samuel checked his weapon.
“And on the other side?”
“The entire Dominion security grid.”
Kim swallowed.
“Great.”
Ronan placed a small explosive charge on the door.
“Three seconds.”
They took cover.
The blast echoed through the tunnel, and the door buckled inward.
Alarms screamed instantly.
The group rushed into a maze of maintenance corridors lined with cables and server conduits. Emergency shutters began descending throughout the complex.
“They’re trying to lock us out,” Kim said.
“Can you stop it?”
“Working on it.”
Her tablet connected to the tower’s internal network. Code streamed across the screen.
“Come on…”
The nearest shutter halted halfway.
“Got it!”
They pushed through and emerged into the central broadcast hub.
Floor-to-ceiling screens surrounded the chamber, displaying Dominion news feeds, surveillance grids, and public communication channels. At the center stood the main transmission console.
Kim sprinted toward it.
“Cover me!”
Samuel and Ronan took defensive positions as security teams flooded the upper entrances.
Gunfire erupted.
Zara fired back, forcing the first wave into cover.
Kim connected the archive drives to the console.
“Upload beginning… twenty percent.”
A familiar voice echoed through the chamber.
“You’ve come farther than I expected.”
Director Auren stepped onto the central platform, flanked by heavily armored guards. His expression remained perfectly composed despite the alarms blaring around him.
“End this,” he ordered.
The guards advanced.
Ronan engaged the nearest soldiers while Samuel provided covering fire from behind a server bank. Zara moved toward Auren, weaving through the chaos.
“You destroyed people’s lives for a program,” she said.
Auren regarded her almost clinically.
“Black Circuit created the strongest riders in Dominion history.”
“It created graves.”
“Strength requires sacrifice.”
Zara stopped only a few feet from him.
“My mother died trying to expose you.”
Auren’s gaze flickered with recognition.
“Lena Vale was brilliant. Unfortunately, she became emotional.”
Rage surged through Zara.
“She became human.”
Auren drew a concealed pistol.
Before he could fire, Ronan tackled one of the guards into him. The shot went wide, shattering a monitor.
Kim shouted from the console.
“Eighty-five percent!”
Security reinforcements poured into the chamber.
Samuel was hit in the shoulder and dropped behind cover with a grimace.
“I’m fine!” he yelled before anyone could ask.
Ronan struggled with two guards at once, buying precious seconds.
Auren recovered his footing and aimed at Kim.
“If the upload completes, Dominion falls.”
Zara reacted instantly.
She launched herself across the platform, slamming into Auren just as he fired. The bullet struck the console railing instead of Kim.
They crashed to the floor.
Auren fought with surprising strength, trying to force the pistol toward Zara’s chest.
“You were born for Black Circuit,” he hissed. “You could have led it.”
Zara twisted his wrist hard.
“I was born to end it.”
The pistol skidded away.
Across the chamber, Kim’s screen flashed.
UPLOAD COMPLETE — 100%
Every monitor in the broadcast hub changed simultaneously.
Confidential files exploded across the screens.
Black Ridge casualty reports.
Council authorization signatures.
Video evidence of illegal trials.
Lists of missing riders.
And finally, a recorded message from Lena Vale.
Her face appeared on every display.
“If you are seeing this, it means Black Circuit has been exposed. The council will call us traitors, but the truth is simple: no government has the right to sacrifice lives for power. Protect Zara. She was never an asset. She was my daughter.”
The message spread beyond the tower.
Public networks across the city began broadcasting the archive automatically. Citizens watched the evidence in real time. News stations interrupted programming. Emergency channels were overwhelmed.
Auren stared at the screens in horror.
“What have you done?”
“The truth,” Zara answered.
Outside, the city changed.
Crowds gathered beneath Dominion Tower.
Security units hesitated as orders conflicted with the evidence now visible to the entire population.
Kim checked the network.
“They can’t stop it. The archive has already propagated to independent servers worldwide.”
Auren’s composure finally shattered.
He reached for the fallen pistol again.
A single shot rang out.
Everyone froze.
Auren looked down at the wound in his chest.
Behind him stood Marcus.
Blood stained his side, and his breathing was ragged, but his weapon remained steady.
“It’s over,” Marcus said.
Auren staggered backward.
“You betrayed the council…”
“No,” Marcus replied. “I finally betrayed my fear.”
Auren collapsed onto the platform.
Silence spread through the chamber.
The surviving guards slowly lowered their weapons as the broadcast continued playing across every screen.
Ronan helped Samuel to his feet.
Kim stared at the endless stream of public confirmations appearing on the monitors.
“People are seeing everything.”
Marcus looked at Zara.
“You did what your mother couldn’t.”
Zara glanced toward the massive windows overlooking the city.
The first full light of sunrise broke over the horizon, washing Dominion Tower in gold.
For years, Black Circuit had thrived in darkness.
Now the entire world was watching.
And beneath the rising sun, the system that had ruled the riders for decades was finally beginning to collapse.
