Find them

Find them
Zero

After leaving the scene, I head straight to Club image to have a talk with Mr Lamberto.

When I step into Mr. Lamberto’s office, the scent of cigars and old leather fills the air.

The faint hum of the city beyond the tall windows gives the place a soft ambience, one that can lull you out of your worries.

Mr Lamberto sits behind a mahogany desk, his expressions calm and unreadable as always.

His sharp eyes settle on me when I step in and slowly follow my every step.

I stop before his desk and tip my head in respect. Not only is he the age of my father, his position as the patron awards him as much respect.

“Zero,” he says, motioning to the chair across from him.

“I was expecting you,” he says.

His voice is steady but I can feel the lingering pain and frustration hidden in it.

“ I'm sorry I didn’t inform you before coming here.” I mutter, lowering myself into the chair.

“ It's nothing. Considering the current situation we are in, I'd say no one has time for that.” He says, giving me a weak smile followed by a sigh.

“ I presume you have something to ask me?”

He is a straightforward man and since there's no need to beat around the bush, I nod

I lean forward, “I need to know if Hera or the club did something that might’ve pissed anyone off lately. Anyone with enough power or guts to plan something like this.”

Lamberto leans back, folding his hands together.

“ Her identity has always remained hidden. I don’t think anyone knew about it.

Of course, the club has offended countless people over the years. It could be anyone but to go after Hera, I don't think so.” He replies.

That hits me hard. “So you’re saying there is no one out there who would want revenge? No unfinished business?”

He shakes his head. “None that I can think of. We haven't offended anyone lately.”

I drag a hand down my face, frustration clawing at my chest. “Then how the hell did this happen? Someone set them up, Lamberto. Whoever did this knew exactly where they would be that night . He knew they would pass through the bridge at that time.

That’s not a coincidence.”

He studies me silently for a moment, then reaches for a cigar but doesn’t light it. “You think someone inside the club talked?”

I shrug, unsure if my next words wouldn’t offend him.

“I don’t know. I don’t want to believe that, but the pieces fit too damn well. It’s like they knew everything.”

Silence stretches between us before I finally speak again.

“I’m not gonna lie,Mr Lamberto. I don’t know what to do. Everyone’s looking to me for answers, to find them.

But I feel like I am failing them.” I confess.

With him, I find myself open to revealing what it is I feel. Something I can't do to my club members or even Chloe.

Mr Lamberto leans forward, his tone softer now. “You’re not failing anyone, Zero. You’re doing exactly what a leader should – looking for the truth. Fear means you care, not that you’re weak.”

I glance up at him, his calm presence comforting me, albeit momentarily.

“You have Killer Angels’ full support. Whatever resources you need that we can offer, feel free to ask. MG is still our leader. Without her, there's no Killer Angels.” Lamberto informs me.

I nod in appreciation.

“ That means a lot to me.” I say.

“ Nonsense, Hera is like my daughter. I also want her found as soon as possible. I have my people looking for them secretly. I believe together we will find them.”

He assures me. I find myself smiling.

“ We are family now. If she was here, she would want us to work together.

Also, I'll keep an eye on my people. If there is a traitor among us, I will sniff them out.”

I nod slowly, the tightness in my chest easing a little. “Thank you, sir.”

Lamberto gives me a rare, reassuring smile. “Bring them home, Zero. And if someone betrayed us…” his expression hardens, “...make sure they regret ever being born.”

I rise from my chair, determination burning anew. “You have my word.”

It’s been forty-eight hours since the accident.

Forty-eight long, sleepless hours filled with unanswered calls and dead ends.

The club is restless. Everyone’s pretending to stay calm, but I can feel the tension the moment I step into the clubhouse.

Chloe hasn’t stopped pacing. It's all she does if not crying or worrying.

Shadow has been glued to his phone, making calls for any leads.

Ghost has been buried in surveillance footage like his life depends on it.

But no one’s found a damn thing.

I light a cigarette and stare at the board in front of me.

It has everything we have found pinned on it from makes to possible connections.

“Found anything yet? ” I ask wiithout looking up.

Shadow clears his throat. “We ran the plates on the car that hit them. Fake registration. The VIN’s been filed off. Whoever planned this knew what they were doing.”

Ghost slams his fist on the table. “Then we find out who had access to the registry. Somebody helped them inside.” He snaps.

“ You think it's going to be that simple? Of course they will cover their tracks.” Shadow counters.

“ Then what do we do? Nothing? We don't know the state in which Viper is in.”

The more I listen to them talk, the more my frustration grows. Everyone seems to think that those two are still alive somewhere, awaiting for us to go to their rescue.

Sometimes, I can't help but wonder if it's our wishful thinking.

What are the chances of surviving a car crash then plunging deep into a river?

“Did Fiona show up?” I ask.

“Yeah,” Shadow replies. “But she is fine, just worried about her mother”

“ What if she knows something and is just bragging?” Ghost asks. We both turn to look at him.

“ I don't know. She could be just like her mother. Helena hid her malicious heart from everyone else. She is her daughter after all.” Ghost explains.

He makes a point. We can't overlook anything.

“Then keep her close Raven can handle that. Make sure you don’t spook her. If she knows something, we will know.”

Chloe who was busy pacing earlier approaches me, her smile weak and faked.

“Zero, maybe you should rest. You’ve barely eaten.”

I look at her closely. Her eyes are red from crying, and for a moment, I almost listen. But then I remember the look on Mason’s face the last time I saw him. The way Hera laughed when she flashed her engagement ring.

“I’ll rest when I find them,” I mutter.

Before anyone can say anything, Shadow’s phone buzzes. He answers, listens for a moment, then his expression darkens.

“What is it?” I ask.

He hesitates, then says, “Divers found something downstream.”

I march towards him, my heart racing wildly.

“What did they find?”
