Chapter 54-Still Got The Nerve

Raya stared at me with joy on her face. What a fool! I could laugh my ass out right now just by seeing her rejoicing the thing she couldn't have. My support. Her face lit up as she stood up from her seat. Is she really that happy? "You will stay by my side?" she asked as her voice grew happier and happier. I wonder how she'll react when I tell her it was all just a lie.

The moment I leave her to suffer alone, I simply decide to escape and leave her out of her own situation. She's fucked up, that's for sure. But I would never sign up to get myself involved with her. "You promise to stay with me even if the world seems to be against us? You won't betray me?" she asked for confirmation again.

Raya’s eyes were indeed so lively right now. It was like she finally had hope and found the support she needed in the first place. I can't lie. I was quite moved. She's too kind for the world, but that doesn't mean I would let her doings slide. For a moment, I had a contemplation within me. Am I doing the right thing? Is it only right to blame this woman in front of me when she's here, asking me to end her misery? I don't know. I felt like I am fucking up everything for her. Her small happiness makes me think that I am the bad guy.

Maybe, she didn't deserve such treatment, and for a moment, I knew she only wanted a safe and peaceful life. But she needs to know that I can't offer her that carefree lifestyle. I don't even have such a beautiful living. How am I supposed to give that to her? Raya was a little bit more of a good person. I can see how thankful she was for me, and the huge smile curled up on her lips says it all. When will I be able to pull off that kind of look? "I promise,” I whispered and smiled back at her. At least I could be happy for a moment.

Even if it's fake. "Yaayy!" Raya shouted, pulled my body, and enveloped me in her arms. She was so happy that she managed to hug me even if she knew our worlds were a thousand miles apart. She even forgot that she was facing the Luna and, instead, stopped giving a fuck about the world. I received the hug and reciprocated the feelings. I wanted her to know that I was not that bad. The hug lasted with Raya's pulling her body out.

She must have felt that we were embracing each other's figure for like a couple of minutes now and felt awkward about it. I don't feel like it since it's been too long since I had someone be so clingy with me. For a moment, I remembered my younger sister. She was so kind and too lost in the real world. Just like this woman, my sister also believed in promises.

She never even thought someone could betray her without hesitation—I guess that's the hardest part of living your life like a small kid with only your parents to guide your way. Yelena, that's the name. She was too clingy with me as well and never wanted me to go far from our home without her. She was the pride of our tribe—the blessing of the family.

Before she was born, everything went downhill with me. Our life went crumbling apart when we found out that we had lost our main source of income—we were now poor. The life I had lived before, the wealthy lifestyle, all the expensive things, and all the foods I have ever had, was all gone. In just one snap, I lost everything. My family lost everything. Yelena was an accidental baby. Everyone from our tribe didn't want to push my mom about her pregnancy as they thought she would be the bad luck. But she wasn’t.. she's the most beautiful thing to ever happen to us.

First, I was consumed by jealousy when I saw my parents protecting her. All my life, I thought that maybe, the moment she was born, people would start to care less about me and eventually shift all their attention to her, which I hated. I want it all to be mine. I want all the attention to be given to me as if I could never live without it. I hate everything. Not until she was given life. My mom struggled upon giving birth to her. She almost died; Yelena was really huge. I was there.

I watched my mom scream at the top of her lungs, feeling like she was running out of breath. Running out of voice... But all my thoughts and perspective about her changed when I saw her eyes open. When I saw her cry for the very first time. A beautiful child was born and was given the privilege to breathe the air, see the world, hear the things. But one thing she lacked was a sense of smell. One thing that wolves shouldn't lack. Yelena couldn't smell anything.

She couldn't sense where her foods were or even smell us. She couldn't follow our natural scents and often lost track. It happened every time until one day, and we completely lost her. Yelena was nowhere to be found, and she just vanished that easily. In hopes of finding her one day, I traveled a lot. I wanted to see even her shadows, but I couldn't. Yelena was nowhere to be found anymore. I tried sniffing everything in the forest place to see if her tracks remained, but they were not there. I was so scared that I would find her lifeless body lying in front of me one day. I am afraid I couldn't take it. Just like how our lives went uphill when she was born and how we managed to get back on our daily living after Yelena blessed us with several properties again, our Lives went downhill again when she left us.

That's how easy it is for us to lose the will to live. We may have been rich again, and the wealthy life was given back to us, but my baby sister was nowhere to be found. What is the joy in it? Just like Raya, Yelena had completely no sense of danger. An explorer, never really aware of the true world. She loves traveling a lot, loves trusting people, and she's too naive to be even brought out to this world. How am I supposed to execute my plan if Raya reminds me of her?

"I must have given you a hard time, haven't I? I also consumed a lot of time and drained you out with all my questions. I just wish you're not that bothered?" Raya said and tried contemplating her own moves. I am glad she's aware of herself. "I'm so sorry, I was just not in my right state right now, and clearly, you are telling me that you'll be beside me really made my heart pump blood twice as much as it did before," she said and hugged herself really tight. I just looked at her plainly and smiled gently at her. I wanted her to pick up the goodness gracious all over me. Should I laugh?

"No worries. Besides, you have all the right to ask me anything about this matter. We're now in this together, aren’t we?" I asked. Raya held my hand and squeezed them tightly. She placed it on her chest part as she gave me the sweetest smile she could have. While her eyes sparkled with tears on the side, she looked down and avoided me.

"I am still sorry if you must have felt that I stole your man. I didn't intend to pick his interest at all, and I would never like that. Although I need his influence for my background and his power to keep me safe, I figure I could get all that with my one and only mate, and I don't have to be bothersome to you and Kairo. I shouldn't be at all," she explained further. I don’t get it. Her talkative mouth says some things she shouldn't say.

She should stay silent about it and accept my offer but still have some things to say. And now, she provoked me again. Is she planning to use Kairo as a shield? What, can't she protect herself? I thought we were independent enough not to crave someone's protection and for someone to shield us. Well, I guess I might have overestimated her, and now I felt disappointed about it. "Okay now," she whispered and dropped my hands. "I'll probably get going now?" she asked. I nodded at her and put both my hands on my chest.

I breathed heavily, watching her take three steps backward but still facing me. "Here's the summary of the plan if I get everything right. I have to reject Kairo as much as I can, even if it means he would hurt me. However, knowing him, he probably doesn't have the guts to cause me pain as he even suggested that I should accept his offer before rather than die," she started. I massaged my nape as I cracked my neck.

This is giving me a headache. If I am interested in her made-up plan, who knows if I might catch on to it? Which I shouldn't. One thing that scares me is, what if everything fucks up? What if our made-up plan of ours contradicts my original strategy? That would give me a busted butt. "And then, after rejecting Kairo, I would pull up some lies like, I am pregnant, and Cassius is the father. That way, he will be left with no choice but to accept the truth. Also, I am afraid Kairo told me before that he also had something up his sleeves. He also told me that I should reject Cassius. Wouldn't that stir things up? His scheme up his sleeves really drives me up the wall," She said. Kairo had his own plot? Had he already planned something beforehand? Oh gosh, that would probably make this whole thing a mess.

"Don't worry, that'll even fuel the fire," I said, acting like I know what I am doing. Do I even know what I am doing? "You are rejecting my mate when in fact, he told you to do the complete opposite would drive him insane. He'll think that you're choosing Cassius over him. Don't you think we're on the bride's side? In addition, you'll get away with him," I said, walking back and forth. I can’t help but overthink everything. I certainly can't take that much stress right now. "But.. I'll be in big trouble. Let alone Cassius?" she muttered.

I just shrugged everything off and had her face the exit door. I placed both my hands on her shoulder in desire that maybe, I could turn the tables for her. That way, she won't suspect me. "I have everything sorted out, Raya. All you have to do is believe me, and I promise you will get out of this," I whispered in her ears. I can sense her heart throbbing fast and her mind contradicting each other. Was I really that hard to believe? Hmm..I don't think so.

"Now, if you may allow me," I said and closed my eyes. "I have so many things to do. And also, my table's been full," I said and turned my back on her. "You should probably leave now. Otherwise, Kairo will end up seeing you here with me. I can hear footsteps approaching us, and the wind's getting stronger here," I muttered and watched the leaves get swayed in the air. "But you told me he'll never find out?" she asked. I just sighed. "I thought so, but it seems like Kairo's guts have been too strong right now. If you don't leave, we'll end up getting powdered and beaten into a pulp," I said as I cut the roses using my scissors. I heard Raya's footsteps getting heavier. I can sense she's slowly heading out.

"Thank you so much for your help. I better get going," Raya shouted and left the room. She opened the door harshly, and I heard her footsteps slowly getting further and further away from me. Hmm.. it seems like the woman knows how cruel it would be to have her tiny little plans get destroyed. As I sensed her disappear, Kairo followed. He barged in the door just when I finally cut down all the roses. Too bad I no longer have flowers to offer him. "I sensed two energies earlier," he said, making his talking clear. Hmmm... I thought he didn't care.

"Is that so?" I asked and laughed a little as I faced him. "You came too late," I looked down at my stem. "I no longer have flowers to feed your soul," I whispered in the air, throwing all the stems out. I watched his eyes roam around the hut. It was like he only came here for the energy he sensed from Raya and not for me. Everything was a mess, and he must have thought I was going against him.

"You sure you didn't do that on purpose? What's the head cutting anyway? You wasted all the good stuff and cut them all. What the hell?" he said. "Well, it doesn't look like you're a flower person anyway. You seemed not to care about them before. What happened now?" I asked and snickered in my seat. "None of your business," he coldly said. Hmmm. I sighed and massaged my head.

"Why are you here anyway? Do you need something? I am sure you came here on purpose. Don't get me started," I asked, and Kairo stared at me blankly and sat on the chair where Raya sat a while ago. "The chair's warm. You sat on here?" he asked. Jesus Christ, even that? "Yeah? Who else would do that aside from me?" I said and mocked him. "Okay. I came here for my birthday party," He made his point clear.

"What? Do you need a receptionist? You need your mom to organize the things for you?" I said and laughed at him. He looked like a lost child, asking his mom to do all the preparations alone in honor of his special day. Or so I thought it was special? "Save your shit to yourself. I need you to show up on that day. Otherwise, people will come at me. They'll probably tell me how useless of a mate I am if I kept you locked in this stupid hut," he said.

"Well, you think you're useful?" I said and laughed. He's not enjoying it. Well, too bad cause I am loving this conversation. "Why don't you ask your Raya to do that for you? In no time now, I would step down as your Luna anyway. You asked her to be your new one, didn't you? So why would I bother coming to your stupid party? To make me look like some pathetic woman who's madly, deeply, seriously in love with her supposed husband? Oh, come on, I won't do that," I said and sat on the chair.

I sure look like I was throwing some tantrums right now. I want to make sure he'll regret coming here. "Oh yeah? Your choice," he said and stood up. Just like that? Isn't he supposed to ask me to come and please me? I need to show him my sharpest bullets. "Oh, right," I muttered, which caught his attention. He looked back at me, and finally, he made it appear like he cared about what I was going to say. "Cassius and Raya are mates now. She finally agreed to do the last step of mating," I laughed at him.

"Do you even know they already had sex? Oh God, to finally be able to touch Raya as if there is no tomorrow ,the feeling of claiming her body as Cassius’s, too tempting, isn't it?" I said and laughed at him. He stared at me for a moment and made sure I was still talking ill about him. "Cassius's probably rejoicing right now. Imagine he got to taste the woman of his dreams. Even I would be dead out of gladness if I finally am able to touch the woman of my life,"

"Now, what to do, Kairo? Would you keep on going or just give up?" I said and gave him an option. Either he chooses or endures it all. He’s not presented with so many choices anyway. I can see the desperation in his eyes and the anger in his flaming glow pupils. He must have felt devastated.

For the first time in his beautiful, almost perfect life, his brother managed to steal one of his love. I mean, he’s so used to getting everything he wants. He never even got the chance to have a sad ending. Every single thing he wants, he always got it because he’s a brat.

Now, I know he’ll do anything to redeem what’s his. He’ll fight Cassius ‘til one of them drop dead. Imagine how deadly it would be. I can smell the defeat. I could smell the violence, and I was craving for it. I want to see how bloody the night would be. “They already did the thing? Cassius stole her from me? He managed to get a taste of her while I stayed in here being this miserable?” he asked me.

Pathetic. Just as I expected, he’ll be a sad boy. He probably wants to get fucked right now and get a taste of every single lady here right now. Of course, excluding me. That’s the irony. I am the Luna, but we never even kissed—cruelty at its finest.

“Correction, my Alpha,” I stood up as I laughed and stood up. I walked up to him and held his shoulders. I pulled him close to my face as if I was initiating some kiss. “You were the one who stole Raya from Cassius, didn’t you?” I whispered. “He’s just getting back what was once his,”
