Chapter 42-Exchange Gift
Cassius' point of view "What the hell are you talking about, brother?" Kairo showed up in my room, looking so frustrated. He was in a state of being a huge mess with a glass of liquor in his hands. I can't believe I'm seeing him like this right now. No wonder no one has ever liked him strongly; he's an obsessive motherfucker with a liquor problem. "Why can't you just give Raya to me? I am hers, and she is mine; what part of it can't you understand?" he said and threw the glass on the wall.
I did not know he had a side like this. All my life, I thought, he's just someone cold and someone that could actually kill you based on his behavior, but he's not. He had some obsessive features, something I could now swallow. He never even made it to the point of throwing a fit over a girl. What makes Raya so special that my brother would reach out to me, being this pitiful?
"You cannot take what's mine. She's my mate, Kairo. What part of it can't you understand?" I took the question seriously and threw it back at him. I stood up from my seat and got myself a broom and dustpan. I would have to clean the glass alone rather than call for a maid and have her witness the fight. If this one got leaked, it would surely taint not only my brother's name but mine as well. I would never let that happen.
"I don't care. All I have to do is make her my Luna, and we will be unstoppable," he said and laughed maniacally on my back. I dropped my cleaning materials and stared at him. I cannot help but stop myself from transforming into a monstrous creature and ripping him apart; I can't be like that, and what about his current woman? He's going to throw her away and snatch my mate, cause a huge mess for our pack, taint our names, and destroy the foundation we poured our hearts out into making? Did he finally lose his cool and go insane with all the problems that are coming our way? Kairo needs some psychiatric medical help. Otherwise, I would have to send it there himself.
"You cannot do that. Your Luna loves you very much that she allowed you to take a lot of women to your house, even though she's right there. She loves you deeply that she can take every single pain just so she can stay beside you, care for you, and shower you with endless love. You can't even appreciate that?" I asked him and watched his expressions turn different as time went by. He's naive, cold, unappreciative, made to be like that.
"If you think she's all worthy, why don't you love her and reciprocate her endless feelings?" he said as he scowled. His claims were too blurry. "Why not? Let's make a deal," he suggested and claimed excitedly, giggling in his seat. "You will give me Raya, and I will give you my Luna. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, what's your take?" he suggested. I don't want it. I would never engage myself in his exchange gift; that's just too stupid.
Raya will always be mine; she never even liked this guy. She loathed him; undoubtedly, if she liked him from the start, she would have chosen Kairo instead of me. "Are you sure she would allow that? Hell no!.Raya has always had romantic feelings toward me, She loved me very much that she would not choose you over me; she will never like you, Kairo! A psychotic guy? An obsessive jerk? Boastful and all mighty, she can't afford to stay beside you or hide in your shadows; she is more than that," I said as I felt my temper starting to rise.
"Can't you understand what a woman wants? Because clearly, if you cannot, then you should be scared for your life. Because until the very end of the day, no woman would like to be beside you. They would all loathe being with you and hate you because they can't swallow the fact of waking up every morning looking into a cheater's face," I said quickly before he could respond, slapping him with reality.
His face calmed down, staring at me blankly. I don't even know whether he still understands every single word that's coming out of my mouth. I can't read him. I've always had trouble reading him. Ever since we were just kids, I couldn't understand him as much as our parents did. Maybe because of the fact that I was filled with confusion from his shifting emotions.
I've had a very bad relationship with my own brother. I stopped talking and just stayed in my position.
Standing on the edge of the cliff as if I was about to lose my life. "Are you finished?" he asked. His brows calmed down with his darkened eyes. He is furious at all my words; he must have felt terrible. He should. "Is that all you've got? Is that what you've held in your heart? A grudge? That's too sad," he said and slowly walked towards me. I remained stiff and stood still.
"You did not make me move even a single finger off my body. I don't even feel anything but a huge annoyance to you. Your inferiority complex against me clearly showed up; I pity you,” Kairo continued, making it sound like I was the bad one here.
"Let me make myself clear. Do you want to hear it?" he said and smiled at me, looking like he's had some bad deeds, and I remained silent so as to hear him out. "What if I'll make you an alpha, and you could have my Luna?" he suggested, making me feel something inside me. An alpha? Will I be above him?
"You can have my position, and I could have Raya. A fair exchange?" he said, answering the questions lingering in my head.
