Chapter 83 - The end.
Samantha
I walked down the aisle of the church, clinging to my father’s arm. In just a couple of minutes, I would be wearing a crown. My family’s name was being restored today and all because I finally decided to take the leap. I was still nervous about everything, but the queen and I had found common ground the past couple of weeks. I could only guess that she saw that I wasn’t in it for the money or power.
Technically I was. I wanted to save my parents from the ridicule they had been living with for most of their lives. I wanted them to have comfortable lives. I wanted them to be happy. So, I had my ulterior motives, but Adam was a good man. He was kind. Most importantly, he showed me that he loved me no matter what. We hadn’t gone all the way just yet, but I could feel the feelings burning to burst out of me each time we were alone.
I had to laugh each time Adam told me that he believed our union was the last piece in the puzzle to completely heal our kingdom after all the damage had been done to it. Our union was a way to force our people to forgive the past and move onto a better and brighter future. I told him I thought he was full of it, but I secretly believed he was right.
Our union brought the pack together. Bonds that were long forgotten were repaired as old friends who had become enemies now sat together and laughed as they reminisced about the old days. What the queen did wasn’t wrong, but the time had come for forgiveness and the people were flourishing under our rule. I grew to love my new life and my parents were so happy in my childhood home that it had become a shining beacon in the community.
The war slowly disappeared from our memories as Adam and I built a new kingdom. A new life. New hope for our people.
