Chapter 81 - The Beta's Fate
Dawn and Farrah went to visit Nancy and Harriet, the two she-wolves that had approached Dawn about conceiving. When they talked to them, after talking to Lillyn, they told them to seduce their mates before they came over. Nancy and Harriet had giggled and Harriet said she’d be at Nancy’s the next day.
“Please come in. Harriet is already here. Our mates are out on patrol. We were both successful in mating our mates, not that it’s hard,” Nancy said, giggling.
“Really, all I have to do is enter a room and my mate is on me,” Harriet said, when they walked into the living room.
Everyone laughed.
“Well, Farrah and I consulted with our mother, and she found out some information for us. All I have to do is lay my hands on your stomach and guide the swimmers to your egg. What we need to know is if you want more than one in there?” Dawn said.
Harriet and Nancy looked at each other wide-eyed.
“If we can, I’d like, at the very least, two,” Nancy said.
“I would like just one for now, please,” Harriet said.
Farrah and Dawn nodded. Dawn walked up to Harriet and asked her to lay down on Nancy’s couch. Nancy stood up and watched her best friend excitedly.
Harriet lied down, lifted her shirt and scooted her shorts down a little. She watched as Dawn leaned over her and laid her hands on her lower stomach.
Dawn pressed a little and concentrated on trying to feel the sperm in Harriet’s womb. She felt a pull like her hands were in a running river. Then she felt little tickles in her palm. She pictured the swimmers navigating the womb and finding an egg. She pictured one attaching itself to the egg and wiggling it’s way inside. She felt a hotness against her palm and saw a bright light flash in her mind.
“I am done,” Dawn said.
“You mean I'm with pup?” Harriet asked, tears spilling from her eyes.
Dawn smiled down at her and nodded.
She squealed and popped up from the couch.
“Hurry Nancy. Lay down. I want our pups born around the same time.
Nancy plopped herself down. She also maneuvered her clothing for Dawn. Dawn did the same thing as she had with Harriet and when she felt the moment of conception she nodded to Farrah. Farrah laid her hands on Dawn’s and pictured twins forming into the womb. She thought of the number two, and she kept chanting twins in her head. She felt a tingle and a zap. Dawn gasped, and they looked into each other’s eyes. They both stood and looked at Nancy.
“I would say, wait a couple of days and both of you go to the hospital and find out if what we’ve done was enough. But according to what I was told, you are now with pups. The both of you,” Dawn said.
“Thank you, thank you so much. You have no idea what this means for us. We’ve been trying and were heartbroken every time it didn’t happen. I was also afraid one of us would get pregnant, and the other would feel left out. We are the best of friends and I didn’t want either of us feeling sad while we should be rejoicing. This is so amazing,” Harriet said. Nancy burst into tears of happiness.
Dawn and Farrah stayed and had tea and cookies with Nancy and Harriet. When they left, both of them were extremely happy. They felt like they really helped their pack.
My babies, will you come to my office?
On our way. They said in unison.
They walked into the warrior’s building. Warriors were everywhere training. Josh and Andrew waved and they waved back.
“These must be the Elites that Wes has picked. Look, there’s Amina and Della.
The girls waved at their friends. Amina waved with both hands, she looked excited, and Della smiled at them.
Farrah knocked on Wes’ office door and entered when she heard him call out.
“You two never have to knock. Just come in.”
They both rushed to him. He stood up and wrapped his arms around them. He kissed their lips and smiled down at them.
“Sit on my lap. I have some things to talk to you about.”
The girls sat. Dawn played with the back of Wes’ hair, and Farrah drew circles on his clothed chest. He found it very distracting. Clearing his throat, he tried to concentrate on what he wanted to tell them.
“I have picked my team of warriors. I’ll be taking ten of them on a trip to other packs and different realms. You two are coming with me. I didn’t know how long this trip will be, so I didn’t want to leave you behind, plus Maxon insisted. We leave on Sunday. So I need you to pack enough clothes for at least two weeks. Make sure you bring party dresses too. Also, Jaxon will be coming with us.”
The girls squealed, making him scowl.
“I haven’t seen him in ages. I can’t wait,” Farrah exclaimed.
“I hope he brings us a present. He gives the best gifts,” Dawn said.
Wes grumbled, and the girls started to giggle.
“You two are going to be punished for that.”
“We knew you’d get all twisted. You make it so easy, mate,” Farrah said.
“So he doesn’t give the best gifts?”
“Oh no, he does. But your gifts are even better,” Dawn said.
Wes smiled. He felt Con preen at the compliment.
“Of course I do. My gifts are way better than his.”
They giggled. He growled and nuzzled them. He took turns kissing them. While he kissed one, the other kissed his jaw and neck. Things were starting to get exciting until a knock interrupted them. Dawn and Farrah’s cheeks were flushed and Wes felt immense pride that he was able to drive his mates to such a state. He called out to enter, and his father walked in. Dawn and Farrah jumped off of Wes’ lap, their faces flamed beet red. Magnus chuckled and bid hello to the girls.
“We’ll go and decide what we want to bring with us,” Farrah said.
Dawn leaned into Wes. “I love you,” she whispered into his ear, and then kissed his cheek. Farrah, the minx, made heart hands and blew him a kiss.
The girls left after saying goodbye to Magnus. They ran into Lina before they left the building.
“Lina, you made the Elites. That’s fantastic!” Farrah said, hugging her friend.
“Thanks, I’m really excited. My father won’t stop preening like he was the one that made the list. Anyone who walks by him, he is bragging.”
“He’s very proud of you, as he should be,” Dawn said.
“I had to take out Ben and Chris. They are not happy with me right now. They won’t even talk to me.”
“That’s not fair. They would have taken you out,” Farrah said.
“Well, I used my power on them. But it’s not like I could have used fighting skills against them. They’re both wolves and would decimate me.”
“Exactly, so they shouldn’t be mad. Why weren't you on the same team?” Dawn asked.
Lina flushed, "They both said that they didn't think I was good enough to be on their team because I lack strength."
"What id*ots," Farrah grumbled.
“I have a feeling Chis is going to break up with me,” Lina whispered.
“Well, then he isn’t the right man for you. He isn’t even your beloved anyway. So if he does, screw him. Your mate will adore you,” Farrah said, trying to cheer her up.
“Yeah, you’re right. It’s just hard. We’ve been dating since our junior year. He hasn't found his mate and I haven't found my beloved, so we were thinking of choosing each other. But now, I don’t know.”
“Listen, if he ends up being butt hurt because his very hot and talented girlfriend beat him, then it’s his loss,” Farrah said, hugging her. Dawn hugged her too.
“Thank you, girls. By the way, congrats on finding out Wes is your mate. I guess we all kind of knew, especially the way you have always reacted towards each other.”
“Thank you,” the girls said in unison.
“Were we the only ones clueless about this,” Dawn asked.
Farrah shrugged and Lina nodded.
“He was always so obsessed and protective of you girls. Did you really not notice? Every time any guy that wasn’t part of our friend group talked to you, he would glower at them?” Lina asked.
Both of them shook their heads. Lina rolled her eyes.
“You two are so beautiful, you don’t even know it. That’s why you girls are my friends. Both of you are so down-to-earth and kind. I am really glad you are my friends.”
They all hugged again.
“If he breaks up with you, come to us. We’ll have a girls' day. Bring Amina and Della too.”
“Okay. Thanks.” They watched their friend go back to her training.
“I really hope what we did for Nancy and Harriet actually worked,” Dawn said.
“I don’t see why it wouldn’t. These are our gifts.”
“You’re right. I can’t wait until they can confirm it.”
“Me too, it’s exciting. Let’s go talk to Maxon real fast and see if we can use our gifts in the other packs we visit.”
“Oh, good idea.”
They went to the king’s office and knocked. Queen Lia answered the door and beamed at the girls.
“Farrah, Dawn, what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?” Maxon asked.
“We’d like to ask permission to use our gifts if needed in the other packs and realms,” Dawn informed him.
“You do not need my permission. These are your gifts. You do not need to hide them.”
The girls nodded, “We just wanted to make sure. Thank you for letting Wes bring us.”
“You are newly mated. I did not want to separate the three of you. Have fun on these trips. Strengthen our relations. While Wes will be picking new Elite recruits, I’d like for you two to make sure everything is going well with these other packs and the alliances between them. Ask questions, make inquiries. Gossip. See if you’ve heard any rumors about missing girls.”
“Are there missing girls?” Farrah asked.
“Yes. Try to gather as much intel as you can. Be careful please.”
The girls nodded and then left. This trip was bigger than they thought. What their father had told them when they tried to run was true. They were both determined to find out as much as they could to help these missing females.
