Chapter 207 Miss Abigail's Father
Emmanuel was looking at his sleeping wife in his arms, deep in thoughts. He was wondering what his ex-wife would do to his precious wife. When Timothy told him about Rosemary's investigation into his wife's private affairs, there was no peace in his heart. He vowed that he would protect his beloved wife with his life and he would never allow Rosemary to bully her. At that moment, Abigail opened her eyes. When she saw her lovely husband she smiled sweetly at him. Her smile melted Emmanuel's heart. He hugged her tightly and said, "I love you so much and I will never allow anyone to bully you." Abigail looked at him with worried eyes and asked, "what is wrong, my love?" Emmanuel smiled and replied, "I am thinking about the investigation that Rosemary is conducting and I am wondering what she is up to since we are already divorced." Abigail touched her husband's face and said, "Nothing she can do to us and we have nothing to hide. Our consciences are clear." Emmanuel kissed his wife gentle and said, "I hope you are right, my love. Since I don't have any urgent meetings this morning, I will drop you at work. Please take our marriage certificate and my divorce decree with you. I have a bad feeling that something bad is going to happen." Abigail hugged her husband tightly for a long time and didn't utter a word. Unbeknown to her, the storm was coming. Mr Anthony decided not to tell Abigail about his father being in Johannesburg.
In the meantime, at the Johnson residence, Rosemary woke up the Gates couple before 7 am and told them that they would leave around 8:15 am. She wanted to see Abigail's reputation being tarnished. She was hoping that Abigail's father would embarrass her in the reception area in front of her staff members. She was in a very good mood, she was humming. She also arranged for the reporters to interview Mrs Gates while Mr Gates was talking to his daughter. Mrs Gates told her that Abigail left home when she was sixteen years old and never came back. She assumed that Abigail was working as a cleaner at the company. Rosemary was too lazy to correct her. She was scared that should they know that Abigail was a CEO they would refuse to help her. They arrived at the company earlier than Abigail. Mr Gates didn't want to embarrass his daughter. He felt that he owed his daughter so much. He let his late wife down when he chased his only daughter away. When his wife saw that he was reluctant to go, he reminded him that Abigail had embarrassed the Gates family for being a homewrecker.
Zane followed Rosemary's car to Miss Abigail's company. He took his phone and dialed Mr Anthony. When it was connected he said, "Sir, Rosemary took Miss Anderson's parents to the Good News Group." Mr Anthony thanked him and dialed the number. It was Ben, the reporter's number, "Ben, go to the Good News Group and interview Abigail's parents." Ben, the reporter thanked Mr Anthony and rushed to the Good News Group.
Mr Gates went to the reception area and said, "Good morning, I am looking for Abigail Gates." The receptionist looked at Mr Gates and replied, "I am sorry Sir, we don't have Abigail Gates in this company." Mr Gates scratched his head and said, "I was told that Abigail is working here as a cleaner." The receptionist told him that there was no Abigail Gates in all company's departments. Mr Gates felt that the receptionist was hiding his daughter. At that moment, Emmanuel was parking his car in the parking lot. He went to the passenger side and opened the door. He held his lovely wife in his arms and kissed her. Then he went to his car and drove away. Rosemary and Mrs Gates saw them and they became furious. Mrs Gates quickly took a photo of them kissing and sent it to her husband. When Mr Gate saw the photo he was fuming.
At that moment, CEO Abigail went to the company with a smile on her face. When she saw her estranged father she froze, her steps halted. She was shocked. She couldn't believe her eyes. Her heart nearly stopped beating; she put her hand over her chest. Her mind went blank. Mr Gates turned his head, their eyes met. He was so shocked when he saw his daughter and said to the receptionist, "Didn't you tell me that you don't have any Abigail in the company?" The receptionist looked at her CEO and said, "Good morning CEO Anderson." When Mr Gates heard the way the receptionist addressed his daughter he was shocked. Did she change her last name to her mother's maiden name? Why did the receptionist address her as the CEO? Didn't Mrs Johnson tell them that she was a cleaner? Did she lie to them? In fact, Rosemary didn't tell them that Abigail was a cleaner. It was Mrs Gates' assumption. Abigail's heart was in a mess. What was her father doing at her company? How did he find her? She didn't associate this matter with Rosemary. She quickened her pace and went to her lift. Before she pressed the button, her father grabbed her hand and said, "Are you ignoring me? Don't you even recognize me as your father? Why did you change your last name?" Abigail looked at her father but she didn't utter a word. She pressed the lift button and entered the lift. Her father immediately followed her. Her father was so upset his heart ached. He wanted to beat her up but he restrained himself. As soon as they arrived at the office, her father slapped her so hard she fell down. She was caught off guard. He looked at his daughter and asked, "Why did you change your last name? Are you looking down at the Gates family?" Abigail touched her face; it was so painful and replied, "Did you want me to keep your last name after you disowned me?" Her father became so upset and slapped her again. He used so much strength, Abigail didn't dodge. She wanted to engrave these slaps in her heart. She fell down again. Her head was buzzing and there was blood on her mouth. She stood up, and then she brushed her clothes. She held her tears. She didn't want her father to see her crying. She looked at him but she didn't utter a word. Her father said, "Although I disown you, I am still your biological father. I have a right to correct you when you are wrong." Abigail rubbed her swollen face and replied, "Mr Gates, didn't you cut all ties with me more than twenty years ago? What are you doing here?" Her father looked at her for a long time and replied, "I am here to warn you, stop coveting things that don't belong to you. Why are you so shameless? Why did you have to steal Mr Johnson away from his wife? There are so many bachelors in Johannesburg. Why did you choose a married man? Is it fulfilling to be a mistress? Or are you shot of money?" Abigail sneered and asked, "Mr Gates, what identity are you using to question me?" Mr Gates was dumbfounded. What kind of a question was that? He was her biological father. Abigail looked at her father provokingly and asked, "So, what if I snatched him away from Mrs Johnson?" Mr Gates was fuming. He slapped her again and said, "You are such an embarrassment to the Gates family and I wish I had killed you that day you accused your stepmother for killing your mother. I don't have a daughter like you. You are so shameless. I want you to stop what you are doing and return Mr Johnson to his legal wife. Let me give you a piece of advice. Mr Johnson will never be yours. He will leave you for someone else when he is tired of toying with you. So, stop dreaming." Abigail was in a sorry state and she was deeply hurt by her father's words. Even her eyes were swollen, but she refused to cry. She looked at her father with eyes full of hatred. Her father never believed in her. She thought her father had come to apologize to her after he disowned her more than twenty years, but it was her wishful thinking. He believed Rosemary's lies and concluded that she was a homewrecker. He came all the way from Limpopo to support Rosemary. In his eyes, she was a shameless person who didn't have any morals. Her heart was bleeding; she would never forgive her father. In fact, he was dead in her heart. When her father saw hatred in her daughter's eyes, he became so scared. His anger dissipated, his voice became gentle and he said, "Your mother taught you to fear the Lord, but it is clear to me that you have thrown all her teachings out of the window. I beg you, my daughter, please stop hurting other people, change your ways." Abigail looked at her father and replied, "Why did you believe Mrs Johnson more than your daughter? What will you do to me if I don't stop loving Mr Johnson? Are you going to kill me?" Her father approached her again with a raised hand; Abigail didn't move. She looked at her father with eyes full of hatred. Her father felt that if he stayed longer in the office he would kill her stubborn daughter with his bare hand. Then he decided to leave her daughter's office.
