Chapter 9
Chapter 9
DIANA THORTON
"So you just turned your back and left?" Caroline asked over the phone, the tone of her voice implying that these were serious crimes.
"Uh uh," I replied, feeling a stab of shame wash through me. I down one swig of beer, gagging at the sharp bitterness then grabbed a wedge of lime to suck on.
Two bottles of beer and two packs of Doritos later, the last piece in my mouth, I've just about caught Caroline up on everything that happened between Alexander and me.
I wait for her response while scavenging crumbs from the bottom of the junk wrapper.
"Alexander fucking Stone! Are you kidding me? Our effing boss" Caroline screeched over the phone after I broke the news to her.
"Girl, when I said let lose, you outdid my imagination andy hit a jackpot" She hinted.
In her own way, having someone like Alexander is the ticket every girl needs to become a trophy wife.
"This is not a freaking jackpot, Caroline. I had sex with our boss" I protest, fiercely.
"Wow, this is a lot and to think you guys met under such circumstances, this is something you read in a book or see in a movie," she said, dramatically.
I let out a yelp and crumpled back on the bed as if what she said made everything worse.
"So what, you're going to avoid him tomorrow? He's your freaking boss besides I am sure he has no iota that it's you"
Oh yes, that is true! Tomorrow is Monday. Can we have an extra weekend before that?
I head to the bathroom and run the water hot, stripping off the oversized guy's top and stepping under the jets of water as it cascades down my body as if I can blast everything that happened today down a single drain in a deluge.
Caroline may have been able to keep my anxiety under wraps but after the call, I realized that with her going on maternity leave soon, my anxiety will unravel and then I will have to deal with it.
It's been seven hours since the encounter with Alexander at the hotel but, I can still feel the imprint he left behind.
The manly and dangerous glint in his eyes made my skin shudder upon that thought.
His arm muscles pressed the fabric of the white T-shirt he wore is still a vivid memory. What I would give to be hurled up in those arms again.
I had picked up my dress that was thrown haphazardly on the floor and fled the room the moment Alexander went into the toilet to dispose the condom and clean up after promising to wash me up when done. I didn't have the balls to let him wash me. That would be too much attachment. He's too dangerous for my heart to allow him to do that.
It's just sex, right?
He is also the cutthroat Alexander Stone.
I snap out of it, shaking my head as the thoughts overwhelm me. He reeked of animal rage and sin.
The kind you'd want to commit, ask for forgiveness and commit again.
When I met his gaze, he held it in a magnetic stare, something hovers in the air between us, fragments of emotions and truths that were never said.
We were standing a few feet apart but the connection between us is like a surge of electricity. One that travels from the dark look of his eyes to mine. Seeing him in that light is more than I ever imagined, and the storms of emotion that I never thought still existed whirled through me. It was fresh and fierce.
What happened to not thinking about him? I scold myself.
How can you forget such an artistic view? Damn my rebellious side for harshly stating the obvious.
Even though he's not beside me, I can feel his presence. The familiar confident saunter.
While I know who he is, he on the other hand will forever be trapped in the unknown. The cold and icy truth about that dawned on me.
The enormity of what I had done sank in.
*************
ALEXANDER STONE
I raced to the door and opened it to stare down the hall and figured she must have gone moments back, hence a good head start so there was no point in hurrying to catch her.
"Fuck" I cursed in frustration.
Why did she run out like that?
Frantically, I grabbed the phone to call the front desk attendant. I was acting like a man under a spell.
"Whitelorn Hotel, this is Amanda speaking. How may I help you?"
"I was wondering if..." The words couldn't come out. "Never mind" I hang up.
What was I supposed to say? Did you see a woman in a red dress, with waist-length platinum-dyed hair? Or did a lady drop a message for me?
I was trying to calm the erratic pounding in my heart as I fussed over the situation.
Why the fuck did she leave like that? I shouldn't have let her slip off easily out of my reach.
On second thought, why should I care? It's not like I'm ever going to see her again.
Still, memories from a while ago managed to creep in. The naughty mysterious lady.
Jeez
A coy smile trailed on my lips.
I need to fuck her again. A next time won't be bad. The need rose again. Fierce and insatiable.
She stirred up a hungry desire I haven't felt with anyone in years, stripping me of any control I had when she begged me to fuck her.
My cock stiffened at my thoughts. Down boy.
Her lips... I cried. She had a mouth that was made for shoving a cock into. I need to at least experience that before anything else.
If she hadn't been so sexy, funny and smart, I wouldn't be thinking about her too much. Being in control made life less messy for me. Heck, it was the only way I could cut ties with my toxic family.
Shit! I've got an even bigger problem. I'd wanted to ask if she was on the pill or better yet, buy her one because I had realized in the toilet when sliding off the condom, that it had slipped open and there's a high chance my semen is filled in her.
I've got a maximum of forty-eight hours to find her and be sure that there's no chance I'm making a baby with a stranger.
God! I hope I find her.
