Chapter 21 — Wrappings

Luca's POV:

"So you're not really the typical bad boy?" Mr. Adams, Jane's father, asked for the nth time.

It's been two weeks since the incident at our house and Jane and I decided that I should meet her parents.

My father was sentenced to twenty years in jail. Not only because of child abuse but turns out that he smuggled money from shareholders and banks. My so-called father was in possession of an illegal weapon and the police found a stash of cocaine after searching his office and bedroom. My mother, however, was able to escape the police and we are still searching for her, though I doubt she would be charged with much.

The Hardings fled the country in shame and we haven't heard from them since.

I, on the other hand, took my father's place at the company and became the world's youngest CEO. I was still in training of course, and luckily, Jane's aunt, Mrs. Freeman, volunteered to teach me all that I needed to know.

"Yes sir. I'm not your typical so-called bad boy." I replied as politely as I could.

"And you didn't kidnap my daughter that night?" He asked.

"No Dad. I told you that—" Jane started, but her father cut her off with a hush sound.

"No sir. We went together." I answered.

"And you're saying that you want to date my daughter." He stated more than asked.

"Yes sir."

Mr. Adams sighed.

"Do you plan on marrying her?" Her mother asked.

"Mom!" Jane gasped and her face turned red from embarrassment. I couldn't help but notice how cute she looked.

"Yes." I replied, my eyes never leaving Jane's face.

She turned her head quickly and looked at me with wide eyes.

I heard her mother gasp, but I didn't pay her any attention.

"Yes ma'am. I'm planning on marrying Jane when we are old enough. I love her, Mrs. Adams, and I can't imagine my life without her." I said, speaking my words more to Jane than to her mom.

"I take it that you'll protect her and make her happy?" I heard Mr. Adams ask.

"Always."
