Chapter 67 A Strange and Funny Coincidence

Chapter 67 A Strange and Funny Coincidence
3RD PERSON'S POV

Alpha Damon stared at Diane, his expression confused. He was too preoccupied with what was going on in his mind to notice something like that, moreover he felt it was the matron's work to discover something like that.

He knew Diane wasn't the type of person that was concerned enough to discover that a maid was missing but he didn't point that out.

“Did she steal something and disappeared?” He asked. Probably that was why she was so concerned about it.

She shook her head.

“We haven't heard any issue of something going missing but isn't it weird that Leonard came to the park a few days ago and all of a sudden a maid is missing?” She asked.

Alpha Damon wanted to point out that Leonard wasn't the type of person that would just randomly make a maid disappear but he knew Diane wouldn't want to hear that.

“What does Leonard have to do with the disappearance of a maid he probably doesn't even know exists.”

“That's the thing… he knows her, firstly you're thinking of passing the alpha position to someone who once committed a very unforgivable offense… and you know the worst thing, he came just once to this pack, you were graceful enough to grant him access into the pack after what he did and almost immediately the maid he assaulted years back suddenly went missing. Isn't that a very strange and funny coincidence?” Alpha Damon was speechless. Diane could see it on his face that he was obviously conflicted.

She gave a subtle smirk which Damon didn't catch and immediately replaced it with a serious expression.

“You're an alpha yet you don't seem to know what's going on in your pack…” she said in a mocking tone. Damon stared at her. He felt insulted but he couldn't talk back.
. she was probably right. He hadn't exactly been in a stable mind since forever.

He sighed and rubbed his temple.

“I'll organize a search to figure out what exactly happened to her but I think it's too quick to just immediately assume that Leonard is behind her disappearance. He did something bad once doesn't mean he's behind every single incident that happens.”

“I'm glad you believe someone like him can change,” Diane Said and pushed herself off the railing making an attempt to walk inside.

“Hopefully he's not going to be the reason why she's disappeared but regardless, I think you should stick to your initial agreement of passing the alpha position to Ronan. My son has been of good behavior it's only fair if he gets that position as compensation for being the only good child you have.”

“I don't believe anyone is supposed to receive compensation for being in their best behavior it's expected of him to keep a good behavior regardless. He's an alpha's child he's supposed to be a role model to his people you wanting to just hand him the position on a platter of gold to him is absurd. Since you claim he has been of incredible behavior then you have nothing to be scared of, the pack members are more likely to choose him over Leonard anyways. I'm not having this conversation again, my decision stands I'm not handling the position to just anyone they both have to prove themselves worthy.”

Alpha Damon walked away. He summoned his beta. He hadn't been a good father to Leonard ever since his beloved Tabitha died. He was trying to change, be there for him now like an actual father, he didn't know how to go about it or even start because Leonard seemed to act like he loathes him already. But deep down he wished Leonard wouldn't do something that would as bad as making the maid disappear.

He was disheartened when he learnt what he did to the maid three years ago, as much as he didn't want to admit it he wished it wasn't his son that did it but he couldn't do anything about it, he couldn't leave Leonard unpunished because he was his son so he had to exile him.

He prayed silently that Leonard wouldn't do something to jeopardize his efforts to finally act like a true father to him. If he was actually the one behind the disappearance of the maid he wasn't sure he could do anything.

He thought of how unbothered he was about getting the alpha position, as much as he knew he could just pass the position to Ronan he wanted to give Leonard a chance to actually fight for what belongs to him.

The beta walked into his study minutes later and Alpha Damon looked up.

“I'm thinking of lifting Leonard's exile permanently, regardless of what he did he's still the first born alpha of this pack…” the beta was quiet for a while. Then he finally looked up and spoke.

“I thought as much too but people have been talking, they feel he's not trying to be of his best behavior… the sex tape of his brother's fiancé and him that leaked is still very much on some people's mind…”

“That's also what I'm worried about, now Diane called my attention to the disappearance of a maid. Allegedly she disappeared when Leonard came around the pack. Lifting the exile isn't going to be an easy thing if he turns out to be behind her disappearance, so I called you here, I think you should quietly start investigating which maid disappeared and what time she actually disappeared. If I were to agree that Leonard did do something to her I feel he can't be stupid enough to do something to her the exact same day he showed up here.”

“I've been hearing the maids talk about not seeing a certain maid and there's this rumour I heard about her silently meeting up with Leonard in the pack forest, I didn't know how true that is but I'll definitely start my work on that.” He bowed and left the office.

Damon sat back in his chair and let out a silent prayer.

Whatever happens, I hope you're not the one Leonard.
