Mistaken Lover
Mina hurried down the corridor, her thoughts still circling around the vial and the strange warmth pulsing in her chest. She didn’t notice how her hands trembled slightly, or how her heartbeat had begun to race faster than usual.
Passing through the kitchen, she paused—
The smell of roasting meat and herbs filled the pack kitchen, warm and comforting. It was the kind of scent that usually meant a small break from work.
Hunger gnawing at her and she decided to get herself something to eat. The room was dim, lit by a single lantern, and the maids were busy clearing the tables. She had just reached for a piece of bread when the door suddenly flew open.
A guard—one of the men who worked in the late Rina’s chambers—walked in quickly, his face serious and tense.
“Why hasn’t the Alpha’s meal been served yet?” he asked, his voice low but sharp with anger.
The kitchen went still. The startled maids exchanged worried glances where they stood, hands hovering over pots and trays. Then, nervous whispers and excuses filled the air until one began to stammer, “We—we were waiting for Lady Samantha, sir. She said she’d bring it to him herself—”
The guard’s patience snapped. “That will waste more time! The Alpha will be furious!” He scanned the room, his eyes falling on Mina, who was standing a little apart, a simple tunic on and a questioning look on her face. “You! Carry this tray and follow me immediately!”
Mina, whose own food was finally within reach, recoiled. “I—I can’t. You should wait for Lady Samantha.”
The guard’s nostrils flared, a deep, warning growl vibrating in his chest. “Do not make me repeat myself, girl! Do you want to be the reason your Alpha goes hungry?”
"But... lady Samantha said—”
“Now,” the guard snapped, his tone leaving no room for more argument.
The other maids looked at Mina with wide, frightened eyes, motioning for her to go. With a heavy feeling in her stomach, she picked up the large tray filled with silver dishes. The Guard turned sharply, and Mina had to hurry after him as he led her through the stone hallway toward the private rooms.
They stopped in front of a tall oak door. The Guard knocked firmly. “My Alpha, your meal has arrived,” he announced then stepped aside
“Go on,” he whispered. “He’s expecting his meal.”
Mina took a steadying breath and entered.
She stepped inside, holding the tray tightly. This was the first time she privileged to enter room the deceased Luna Rina ’s room—Althought, it is large, beautiful, and filled with luxury, yet the air inside was heavy—filled with grief, silence, and the faint scent of withered flowers.
But the most striking thing was the man sitting on the edge of the bed—the Alpha himself. Theo sat with his back to her, shoulders tense, his presence strong and commanding and shadowed by sorrow. For a lowly maid like her, it was the first time of her seeing the Alpha more closely.
She walked quietly to the table, placed the tray down, and bowed slightly.
That small sound—the clink of porcelain—made him turn.
.
Theo’s head lifted slowly. When his gaze fell on her, his eyes widened. For a long moment, he didn’t breathe, then a sharp, shocked breath escaped him. Slowly, almost in disbelief
“Rina?” His voice broke. “Rina… is that you?”
Mina blinked, startled. “A-Alpha, it’s me—one of your servants Mina—”
But Theo had already risen to his feet, disbelief and yearning written across his face. “No… it’s you. It’s really you.”
Mina froze, rooted to the spot. Me? The Alpha was staring at her with an intense gaze that stole her breath. What in the world is wrong with the Alpha?
She tried to speak more, to correct him, to tell him her name was Mina, that she was just a kitchen maid. But before the words could fully form, Theo was already closing the distance between them.
His voice trembled as he stepped closer. Mina’s lips parted, confusion flickering in her eyes. The potion’s power—those few drops she’d drunk—was already weaving its cruel illusion. Her skin shimmered faintly under the moonlight, and in Theo’s grief-clouded vision, the shape of Rina stood before him.
He stood before her, so close she could feel the heat radiating from his large body.
He reached out a hand, his fingers brushing her cheek. “You came back to me,” he whispered, voice raw. “You couldn’t leave me… not like that. My beautiful Rina. I’ve missed you so much,” he whispered, his voice trembling with need.
Mina’s breath caught. She unconsciously stare deeply into his eyes filled with so much pain, so much longing, it rooted her to the spot. She wanted to speak again —to tell him he was mistaken—but her tongue felt heavy, her heartbeat frantic.
“Alpha, please,” she managed softly, but Theo only cupped her face with both hands, his thumb trembling against her skin.
Panic clawed at Mina. She tried to pull away, a frantic, warning urge to flee, but his hand tightened, holding her gently but firmly in place. He leaned in slowly, his gaze locked on her own wide, grey eyes.
And then, his lips were on hers.
It was a kiss unlike anything she had ever experienced. Deep. Passionate. A desperate longing poured from him, a raw, demanding desire that shook her to her core. For a stunned moment, she didn’t know how to respond. She tried to push against his chest, but he only deepened the embrace, his arm wrapping around her back to pull her against him.
He paused, pulling back just enough to look deep into her eyes, his breath ragged.
“I know you’re mad at me, Rina, for not spending more time with you,” he said, his voice laced with pain and longing. “But please, let me love you! Let me show you how much I’ve missed you these past days! Stop pushing me away and become one with me! I want me inside of you tonight!”
He kissed her again, hungrily, his tongue roaming and seeking dominance inside her mouth, his hands ruffing her blonde hair while he deep the kiss.
Mina’s mind screamed that it was wrong, that she should pull away—but her body refused to obey. The heat that had been stirring inside her since she drank the potion now surged stronger, clouding her senses. Her heart thudded painfully as Theo’s hands trembled against her back.
Sudden he broke the kiss and pressed his forehead against hers, eyes closed, whispering her name again and again like a prayer. “Rina… my Rina…”
Tears welled in Mina’s eyes—part fear, part confusion, part something she couldn’t name.
“Please,” he whispered hoarsely, “don’t vanish again. Let me love you one last time.”
He kissed her again, and then slowly, he lifted her into his arms, carrying her to the large bed.
She felt the cool silk sheets against her back as he gently laid her down. This was her chance—she had to run! Quickly, she jolt up, but he was too fast. He pinned her instantly, his large body covering hers, effectively trapping her two legs between his waist.
His kiss wasn’t fast but sensual. A slow, deliberate trace of his tongue around her neck, her jawline, the exposed curve of her throat. His touch was a blend of tenderness and deep male desire. The confusion was still in Mina’s mind, but underneath it, a strange, terrifying heat was began to spread between her thigh. The foreign sensations overwhelmed her, and her resistance slowly died down.
Sensing her surrender, Theo lifted his head, his eyes burning dark with desire. His mouth continues to move with controlled pacing, while his large hands carefully peels away her simple tunic, then his own clothes. When Mina tried one last time to get up as he stripped, he merely used his weight to pin her down again, his dark eyes daring her to escape.
The air was thick with heat and the scent of the alpha. Then, without any further warning, he surged forward and entered her.
A sharp, shocked gasp tore from Mina’s throat. A single, blazing pain was instantly replaced by a stretching, overwhelming fullness of him— it was her first time.
Suddenly, Theo stilled. He pulled back slightly, his eyes closing, a deep, shuddering inhale escaping him. His head snapped up, his nostrils flaring as he sniffed the air again, more deliberately this time, a primal, animalistic focus in his gaze.
His eyes, now wide with desire even greater than before, locked onto hers.
“Mate,” he breathed, the word echoed in the silence of the room.
“You are my mate! I wouldn’t let you get out of my sight this time around.”
Then he began to move, a deep, rhythmic thrusting that quickly erased the tingling pain, replacing it with waves of wet and warm sensation that Mina couldn’t control.
"I love you so much.. my mate" He whimpered in her ear and then suddenly increased his pace. She cried out but he quickly silenced her with his lips and then continued to thrusts in deep and faster. He held her hands down firmly on the bed as his waist moves rapidly on top her while soft, breathless moans escaped her lips.
They continued until the fierce storm passed, leaving both of them utterly spent and breathless.
Theo rolled onto his side, pulling Mina with him. He wrapped a firm arm around her waist, pulling her against his chest, holding her as if she were the most precious, fragile thing in the world.
Trapped against the steady beat of his heart, exhausted and mystified by the events of the night, Mina found herself unable to move.
They both fell to the deep, dreamless sleep of utter exhaustion.
