Chapter 44

When Kathryn woke up in the morning, she noticed Zachary wasn't beside her anymore. Rubbing her eyes, she called out for her husband.

"Zack?"

Then a man popped out from the bathroom, all fresh and clean. "Good morning, baby."

The immediately brought a smile to Kathryn. Who would've thought her husband would wake up early today? It was indeed a miracle.

A few hours before lunch, Zachary and Kathryn went to the beach side and started to play volleyball. Kathryn wasn't an athletic person, but she sure did know how to play this game. Every summer when she was a kid, she would play volleyball on the beach with the other kids from the orphanage.

Soon, a few people started joining them. Zachary, upon seeing how happy Kathryn was playing, set aside his possessiveness.

"Whew, that was a good game," Kathryn said, panting as they took a break and sat under a hut.

Zachary smiled and nodded, "Yeah. You're good at this, Kath."

Kathryn grinned at her husband, "You’re still better than me though." Then she stood up, "I'll go get us some water."

Zachary nodded and watched Kathryn walk towards the nearest store. Suddenly though, his view was blocked by a person.

"Hey, now I know why you were so pissed at me last night. You're actually husband and wife, aren't you?"

Zachary looked up and his blood immediately boiled at the sight. It was no other than Charles, the douchebag Zachary wished to erase. Because he already had a talk with Kathryn, Zachary preferred to ignore this man. Despite wanting to punch him again and who knows, maybe kill him too. No, Kathryn wouldn't want that so let's be calm.

Promptly, Zachary stood up and began to walk away.

"How about we play?" Charles suddenly suggested, now holding a ball. "My team versus yours."

Zachary turned and stared hard at this man. Just looking at the arrogant face of Charles made Zachary's blood twitch in anger and disgust.

Because Zachary was a competitive man, soon he found him and Kathryn playing with this jerk who ruined their night before. Well, if not for the agreement to leave them alone after Zachary and Kathryn win, both really won't agree.

Soon the game was over and both teams did not expect the score to be. Apparently, it was a tie.

"We need to settle this somehow," Charles said with a snicker then he glanced at the sea. "How about a swim race?"

Kathryn immediately turned her head to Zachary. "Zack—”

"What, don't you know how to swim?" Charles taunted followed by a few laughs from his group.

Zachary remained silent and looked over the sea, checking its current. Then he looked at Charles, "Okay. Let's do it."

That got the people around them cheering and whistling.

"If I win, you and your group should get the hell out of our sights."

Only a snicker was produced by Charles.

"You're dead, man. Charles' favorite sport is swimming," one of Charles' friends said, then laughed along with the others.

Kathryn thought about it was a bad idea. Why the hell would this group challenge Zachary like that? And a swimming race, of all things?

Soon the game started and the two raced in the open sea. Everybody was amazed at the beautiful strokes they made, especially Zachary. Charles' friends could only watch in awe as Zachary swam beautifully against the waters, as if they were his.

It was just a simple race, but why did it suddenly feel like a sports competition?

Kathryn fidgeted in her position the entire race. She knew how Zachary loved the water as much as he loved Kathryn. Swimming wasn't just a sport to Zachary. It was a part of him.

Soon the race ended, and everyone knew who won.
