Chapter 155 Her Identity
Chapter 155 Her Identity
In the hospital bed, Grandma Brenda Morgan wore a respirator, her face ashen gray.
Seeing Sean walk in holding Isabelle's hand, a burst of light flared in Brenda's cloudy eyes.
She yanked off the oxygen mask and gripped Isabelle tightly with her bony hand.
"Good... good child." Grandma Brenda's eyes were full of relief. She had seen countless people, and could tell at a glance that Isabelle had arrogance and decisive ruthlessness in her bones.
The Morgan family, this giant ship, needed someone like this at the helm.
Brenda turned to look at Sean, her voice hoarse but firm, "Sean, after I'm gone, most of the Morgan family assets will be transferred to Isabelle's name. You... must protect her with your life."
The relatives from the side branches outside the door heard this and immediately started whispering among themselves. An outsider girl, why should she get most of the Morgan family fortune?
Isabelle gripped Grandma Brenda's wrist to check her pulse.
Weak pulse, heart and lung failure, and mixed with a trace of barely noticeable chronic poison.
Her eyes went cold. She pulled out a plain white porcelain bottle with no markings from her pocket and poured out a crimson pill.
"Open your mouth." Isabelle's tone was flat.
Grandma Brenda didn't hesitate for a second and swallowed the pill.
In just ten minutes, Brenda's ashen face visibly reddened and her breathing became steady and strong.
"This is..." Grandma Brenda was shocked, feeling the life force surging back through her body.
"Strengthens your foundation and vitality, and clears out the dirty stuff you've been eating." Isabelle wiped her hands with a wet wipe, her tone completely flat.
Grandma Brenda's eyes instantly became sharp.
She understood perfectly what "dirty stuff" meant.
Inside the Morgan family, someone couldn't wait for her to die.
Brenda acted decisively, immediately pressing the call button by the bed. "Get the legal team in here now! We're doing the will and property transfer right now!"
The legal team moved fast.
Several legally binding documents were laid out on the table.
Grandma Brenda signed her name without hesitation, transferring all of the Morgan family's core assets in North America, foundations, and several estates to Isabelle's name. After completing the notarization, Grandma Brenda insisted Isabelle stay at the estate, cutting off any chance for others to make their moves.
Night fell, and the Morgan Mansion was full of hidden currents.
Isabelle was coming downstairs with a glass of water when she reached the corner and several elders from the Morgan family's side branches blocked her way.
They were eyeing this huge fortune and would never allow an outsider to interfere.
"Miss Morgan, you need to know when to back down." Raymond, the leader, had sinister eyes and a threatening tone. "The Morgan family's money isn't something an outsider like you can hold onto. If you're smart, give up the notarization voluntarily, and we'll still let you live."
Isabelle didn't even lift an eyelid. She took a sip of water. "What if I don't?"
"Then don't blame us for being rude!" Several bodyguards immediately stepped forward, trying to make a move.
"Bang!" A gunshot shattered the mansion's silence.
The Persian rug at Raymond's feet was pierced by a bullet, smoke rising from it.
Sean, one hand in his pocket, holding a Glock pistol in the other, slowly walked down the stairs.
Sean radiated a terrifying murderous aura, his deep black eyes fixed deadly on those relatives from the side branches.
"Try touching her and see what happens." Sean walked to Isabelle's side and naturally took the glass from her hand, his posture full of possessiveness.
Raymond's face went pale. "Sean! Have you lost your mind? For a woman, you're going against the entire Morgan family? What the hell is she anyway!"
"What is she?" Sean laughed coldly, his gaze sweeping over everyone present, his voice low but firm. "Listen carefully. From today on, she's not only the Morgan family's largest shareholder, but also my master. All my Everlight assets are under her control. I belong to Isabelle. Anyone who disrespects her is declaring war on my Everlight."
Dead silence filled the room.
The side branches stared in horror.
The head of Everlight had publicly announced his identity, admitting he was this woman's subordinate?
Isabelle glanced sideways at Sean.
Sean was looking down at her, his eyes full of undisguised fervor and submission.
The corner of her mouth lifted slightly. She said nothing, accepting his declaration.
The next morning.
To completely establish Isabelle's authority and cut off everyone's bad intentions, Grandma Brenda booked the largest InterContinental Hotel conference center in Washington and held a grand media press conference.
All major North American mainstream media and political and business elites attended.
Flashbulbs went crazy. Grandma Brenda sat in a wheelchair, looking sharp and energetic.
Isabelle wore a sharply tailored black suit, her expression cool as she stood beside her. Sean stood like an absolute guardian, half a step behind Isabelle.
"I've asked you all here today to announce one thing." Grandma Brenda spoke into the microphone, her voice loud. "From today on, all Morgan family affairs in North America will be handled entirely by Lady Isabelle."
After speaking, Brenda, in front of all the Washington media, took a rosewood box from her personal assistant.
The box opened to reveal a pitch-black signet ring carved with intricate emblems.
This was the symbol of the highest power in the North American Morgan family - the Signet Ring.
Grandma Brenda held out the Signet Ring to Isabelle with both hands, her posture somewhat respectful.
Isabelle's expression remained flat. She took the Signet Ring with one hand and casually tossed it up and down a couple times, as if it were just a worthless toy.
This scene was broadcast live and instantly spread throughout Washington.
Capital University campus, lecture hall.
The big screen was broadcasting this press conference that shocked the entire city. All the students and teachers watched the familiar, cool figure on the screen and fell into deathly silence.
Then, an uproar that could lift the roof erupted.
Claire, sitting in the front row, stared at the big screen. The pen in her hand snapped in half, plastic shards piercing her palm, but she didn't feel the pain.
As the fake heiress of River City's Morgan family, she had schemed her way to Washington to climb the social ladder and keep Isabelle under her feet forever.
But now, the real heiress she had seen as a country bumpkin had transformed into the head of a top North American family, with even the untouchable Sean publicly submitting to her.
Intense jealousy and shock intertwined. Claire's face turned white as paper, her whole body shaking uncontrollably.
Capital University lecture hall.
The live broadcast on the big screen had ended, but the shock it brought Claire was like a tsunami that completely drowned her.
She stared at the darkened screen, her nails digging deep bloody marks into her palm.
Jealousy gnawed at her heart like a venomous snake.
Why? Isabelle was just a country bumpkin rejected by River City's Morgan family. Why could she suddenly become the head of a top North American family? Why could she make the high and mighty Sean submit publicly?
Claire stumbled out of the classroom and hid in a bathroom stall, locking the door.
With trembling hands, she called Melissa.
"Mom, who exactly is Isabelle?" Claire's voice shook, full of extreme unwillingness. "How can she be part of the North American Morgan family?"
