Leonardo got back home and found Chloe waiting for him by the gate. "What is Chloe doing here by this time of the night?" he asked himself as he drove into the house.
"Chloe what are you doing here?" Leonardo asked in surprise as he allowed her come into the house with him.
"It's Max, he hmmm, sent me a text that he is coming over to my place and I'm scared about what he might do to me. I do not have anywhere else to go to tonight, I do not know if you can maybe let me stay here for the night, then by morning I can figure out what to do."
Leonardo allowed her come in, and asked Mary to take her to one of the guest room. Later that night, Leonardo was on his bed thinking about Alisha and trying hard to sleep when he heard a knock on the door.
"I'm so sorry to disturb you, but I had a nightmare and can't sleep alone" Chloe said coming into his bedroom uninvited.
"Oh sorry about that, I think you can pass the night with Mary in her room, she won't mind" Leonardo said getting up
"No no, I don't think she would like the idea, mind if I spend the night here with you?" Chloe asked and was about to close the door behind her when she heard a voice from behind.
"Oh no, I don't mind, I heard the sound of your door and thought you needed something that's why I followed you, you can sleep in my room, the bed is large enough for the both of us" Mary said with a "a know what you are up to" kind of smile
"Thank you Mary, that is very thoughtful of you, well that's settled. Good night Chloe." Leonardo breathed out in relief as he locked his door and went to bed.
Chloe frowned as she followed Mary to her room.
"I thought you don't sleep here?" Chloe asked Mary, she was upset that Mary had interrupted her
"I do when I finish up late or have something to do very early here at the mansion, why do you ask?"
"Hmm, nothing, I feel better now, I think I will just go back to my own room now." Before Mary got a chance to respond, Chloe entered the room and shut the door. Mary smiled in satisfaction and went to sleep in the next room.
The next morning Chloe insisted she make coffee for Leonardo, she made the coffee and was waiting for him to come down and drink it, then they could go to the office together.
Mary was very suspicious of her, if she had left the house in a hurry to avoid Max arrival, how come she had prepared and packed her office wear for the next day and even her perfume and make up.
"Mr. Leonardo would be down here any moment from now, I suggest you go pick your things from the room, so you won't keep him waiting after he has had his coffee, since he won't be having breakfast this morning." Mary said
"Yeah, I"d be back in a moment" she said and hurried to the room.
Mary dropped a pinch of salt in the coffee Chloe had made for Leonardo, and made a fresh cup for him.
"Good morning Mary, my coffee please" Leonardo said as he walked into the kitchen fixing his necktie.
Mary was grateful for the touch of Alisha in their lives. In all her years of working with Leonardo, he rarely said good morning, or even included please, but since Alisha came into the picture, he turned out to be nice, too nice if you would ask her, in not, what would Chloe be doing in this mansion in the first place, Chloe always trembled when leonardo's name was mentioned, now that Alisha had made Leonardo a changed person, chloe was taking advantage of it, especially in Alisha's absence.
"Chloe insisted she made coffee for you, here is it, but I made a cup for you myself incase you don't like hers." Leonardo took a sip of the coffee Chloe made, frowned his face and poured it in the sink.
Mary smiled as she handed the coffee she had made to Leonardo. He drank from it while he checked his phone.
"Her coffee tastes weird" Leonardo chuckled and Mary agreed with him, after all who drinks coffee with a pinch of salt in ti?
"Do you think I should look for her?" Leonardo asked Mary, his face looked sad, he was missing Alisha.
"I am confused on what to say sir, a part of me thinks we should give her time, she was probably hurt about something that was why she left, because even if she did not want to stay here, she loved the bakery so much to even consider leaving it, yet a part of me wants you to look for her, go after her, and bring her back." Mary missed her too.
"I don't know Mary, her absence cuts so deep sometimes that it feels like it is choking me, other times I'm angry that she left the way she did, I …" Leonardo was still saying when Chloe interrupted
"I'm back, who missed me"
"No one" Mary muttered under her breath and focused on something that didn't need her attention.
"Why don't you drop by the police department this morning, and file a complaint against Max, so you can go back home today" Leonardo suggested
"I will just have a talk with him, he probably wants to come back because he realizes that I was lying about the pregnancy, but I will have to tell him that it is too late already." Chloe said, as she noticed that Leonardo was not drinking from the mug she had filled with coffee for him, she looked at Mary and frowned giving her the "What did you do" look.
Mary flashed her a smile and looked away.
"You are pregnant?" Leonardo asked looking at her tummy.
"Not anymore, I lost the pregnancy at the fourth week." She said and bit from an apple.
"Talk to him then, but not in the office, I don't want a scandal there, chose maybe a restaurant, or somewhere open, so he won't hurt you." Leonardo said and got up, thanking Mary for the coffee, he left the kitchen with Chloe following him closely behind.
Leonardo spent the ride to the office speaking to a business client. Chloe had a frown on her face, Leonardo thought it was because of the idea of seeing Max that made her appear unhappy but Chloe on the other hand was unhappy because she would have loved to spend the ride to the office chatting with Leonardo.
Leonardo arrived the office and almost immediately was occupied with series of meetings, he skipped breakfast, but was finally able to have an early lunch when he had a meeting in a restaurant.
When he got back to the office, he was exhausted and just wanted to be left alone. A knock on the door made him grumble before asking whoever was there to come in.
"Would you like me to get you something for lunch sir?" Chloe asked when she entered the office and Leonardo was surprised as to when his lunch became part of Chloe's job description.
"No, cancel all my remaining meetings for today" he said and dismissed her.
As he sat back in his chair and took off his neck tie, he thought about Alisha. Should he look for her? Should he wait for a month or two before looking for her? This was the second week since she left. He wondered if she was comfortable wherever she was. He thought about checking up on her dad and Anna, he thought about finding out if the bakery was doing fine, but her father was probably still mad at him for suspecting her of cheating, he would keep his space for a while.
"What if she needs me to come after her?" Leonardo asked himself. He placed his head on his desk, he had never been so confused and disturbed in his entire life.
"Excuse me sir" Chloe said coming into the office without knocking.
"What do you want Chloe?" he asked her in a voice that told her she was disturbing him.
"I hmm, I wanted to see if you needed anything, hmm maybe a massage or something, I could emm" she was stammering as she walked towards him.
"Chloe, what do you want? You've been acting strange for a week now"
"Isn't it obvious? I want you, I don't know why you find other women attractive except me, Alisha is the cause of all this, just two days she stood in for me at the office and she seduced you into marriage."
"What nonsense are you speaking about Chloe?"
"Are you so blind? Can't you see that I love you? Alisha only cares about your money, she must have gathered enough in the last one year, I'm sure that was why she left. He tried to kiss him while he was sitting and listening to what she was saying.
"Chloe stop this nonsense, so I'll fire you"

Leonardo didn't know if he should push her aside or kiss her back. He didn't make out with employees, and besides this was Alisha's friend, fake or real he was married to Alisha, he would be hurting her feelings if she found out about this.
