The next day, when Louie woke up, Mia was already gone. Bessie had prepared breakfast, and as Louie ate his fried eggs, he asked, "Bessie, what did you and Mia talk about last night?"
Bessie smiled and said, "We talked about you, Mr. Louie. She mentioned how you saved her back then." Bessie kept her eyes on Louie's calm face as she spoke.
"Is there something wrong with my face?" Louie asked, puzzled.
Bessie hurriedly said, "Mr. Louie, I was just thinking, there's something I'm not sure if I should mention."
Having finished two fried eggs and a glass of milk, Louie let out a satisfied belch and said, "Bessie, when did you start getting into these things? Just say what you have to say."
"Mr. Louie, I think Mia likes you. Last night when she talked about you, she couldn't stop talking. People from our area say that's a sign of falling for someone—always having endless words to say," Bessie revealed.
Louie chuckled. He stood up, put on his coat, and said, "Bessie, don't overthink it. There's nothing between me and her." Louie casually shook his head. "Someday, you'll understand that liking someone doesn't necessarily mean love."
While Bessie was still pondering Louie's words, he had already opened the door and left.
As Louie drove past the bus stop for Route 15, he spotted Arabella standing there in a black dress, holding a handbag. The line at the station looked anxious, with Arabella raising her left hand and checking her watch. Louie parked his car by the roadside, stuck his head out of the window, and called, "Arabella, need a lift?"
Arabella, upon seeing Louie, was thrilled. A radiant smile lit up her face as she ran towards Louie, her handbag in tow. Today, she was wearing a skirt, and as she ran, her ample bosom bounced up and down, drawing the attention of half the men waiting at the station.
Louie couldn't help but feel a bit itchy watching this charming display. He thought, "This girl is already adorable and petite, and on top of that, she has a pair of knockout beauties. The charm of a busty beauty is irresistible."
Arabella, panting, reached the car, and Louie opened the door. He deliberately glanced at her chest as he said, "Arabella, you look particularly charming when you run. How about we go jogging together next time?"
Arabella didn't catch the hidden meaning in Louie's words. The shy and innocent girl thought Louie wanted to jog with her, so she smiled sweetly and said, "Sure, supervisor, let's jog this Saturday."
"It's quite silly, laughing so sweetly." Louie, looking at Arabella's adorable smile that made her eyes squint, thought, "This little girl might have been sold, and she's even helping others count money." He didn't expose her but casually said, "If there's nothing else, let's jog if you want."
"Supervisor, if it weren't for you, I would definitely be late for work today. I don't know what happened, but the Route 15 bus hasn't come for over twenty minutes. Thanks to you passing by, I caught a ride," Arabella said, expressing her gratitude.
Louie chuckled and drove onto Nan Hua Street, heading up the overpass. There would be a traffic jam at this overpass, a daily occurrence. Although the Sradarc government had decided to build a new overpass to alleviate the congestion at the Wangxingmen overpass, the municipal project had yet to start. At this rate, even if construction began, it wouldn't be completed until May of next year at the earliest.
Another traffic jam, and Louie knew it would take at least ten minutes. He lit a cigarette, leisurely smoking. Arabella grumbled, "Another traffic jam. Supervisor, won't we be late for work?"
"What's to worry about? I'm here," Louie said with a smile.
"Supervisor, I'm not like you. I'm still a newcomer, and my probation period is about to end. During this time, I don't want any negative records at the company," Arabella said, glancing at Louie. "You're different, Supervisor. There's news that you might... I heard it from Barton, that guy who talks nonsense."
Arabella suddenly changed her tone, suppressing what she originally wanted to say. "Supervisor, I was just thinking, maybe it's not appropriate for me to say this."
"Speak up. What news?" Louie found it strange that even Arabella was interested in gossip news, especially about him. Otherwise, how would Arabella care?
Arabella hesitated and said, "I also heard it from Barton before we left work yesterday. He said, Supervisor, you might be getting a promotion to a new position, but he didn't specify."
"Oh, I see." Louie nodded. It seemed that the news of his promotion to the manager of the organization department had already spread, and he, as the person involved, was still in the dark. It was time to talk to Rex and find out his plans. There was no need for unnecessary promotions. After all, Rex knew that Louie was just passing time at Infinity Group and might leave anytime. Louie didn't share these thoughts with Arabella; instead, he put on a pitiful face and said to her, "Arabella, can you imagine me as a manager? If they promote me, I might scare away all the beautiful women in our company. What do you think?"
"Hehe." Louie's teasing made Arabella laugh. She also felt that Supervisor Louie had a flirtatious side, and if he were really promoted to a manager, who knew what trouble he might cause. She replied, "Supervisor, you do seem a bit...playful. If you become the manager, I wonder what might happen."
At the intersection about a hundred meters away from the Infinity Group building, Arabella got off the car. She was afraid that being seen by colleagues getting a ride with Louie might lead to misunderstandings.
Louie parked the car in the building's parking lot and casually strolled into the office building. Just as Bella also entered the building, Louie noticed her weary expression, clearly having not slept well.
"Bella, what's wrong? Didn't sleep well last night?" Louie greeted.
"Is insomnia not allowed?" Bella retorted with irritation. "I'm not as leisurely as you, Supervisor. I have a lot of work pressure."
"Bella, I also have a lot of pressure. Look at my eyes." Louie leaned in close, pointing at the dark circles under his eyes. "See? All from crying."
Bella took a quick glance but saw no sign of tears. Realizing she had fallen for Louie's playful expression, she snorted and said, "Supervisor, I don't have time to play with you."
"Bella, don't be angry. I was just trying to lighten the mood. But on a serious note, work is work, and life is life. Don't sacrifice your quality of life for work. Seeing your tired face makes me feel sorry for you. How about this, after work today, I'll take you out to relax, sing some songs, and dance a bit?" Louie suggested.
Bella was about to refuse when, at that moment, Arabella rushed into the building, panting heavily. Running like that, her ample bosom bounced, drawing the fiery gazes of some male Infinity Group employees. Arabella ran up to Bella, gasping for breath, and greeted, "Bella, good morning."
"Arabella, late again?" Bella observed the different way Arabella looked at her compared to how she looked at Louie. With a hint of a smile, Bella advised, "Wake up earlier, and you won't be late."
"Yeah, thanks, Bella." Arabella flashed a sweet smile.
"Oh, Arabella is here too. Perfect timing," Louie grinned. "Arabella, I just spoke to Bella about going out to relax tonight, singing and dancing. Are you interested?"
"Sure." Without much thought, Arabella agreed, linking her arm with Bella's. She sweetly smiled, saying, "Bella, let's go dancing together."
"Let's talk about it this afternoon. I'm not sure if I can finish that client's order today." Originally, Bella wanted to decline Louie directly. The events of that night were still fresh in her mind, and she felt a complex mix of emotions towards Louie. However, since Arabella was interested, Bella didn't want to disappoint her. After spending so much time together, she felt that Arabella was like a younger sister, someone she needed to take care of. So, for Arabella's sake, Bella gave an answer that was about 80% likely to happen.
"That's settled then." Louie smiled. Bella snorted, "I didn't promise for sure. Arabella, let's go." With that, she led Arabella towards the elevator.
Louie chuckled, understanding that Bella was intentionally making things difficult for him. Thinking about the night he kissed Bella in the car, Louie's heart started itching again.
