Chapter 64 Prince?
The employees in the headquarters greeted towards Olivia.
Gia, holding a pager, came over towards this side, and when she saw Olivia coming over, she immediately greeted, "Good morning, Miss Moore."
When Carl passed by her, Gia immediately spoke up, "Hello, Deputy Minister, Mr. Rodriguez!"
Ran even winked at him.
Carl was very helpless and glared towards Gia.
After walking to the conference room, Olivia poured a cup of coffee, then sat on a chair and started reading those documents.
Carl stood for a while, coughed, and then said, "Miss Moore, if there is nothing else, then I will leave."
Olivia took out a file bag from inside the drawer and handed it to Carl, "This is the newly developed headquarter system table. You give it to every employee in the headquarter."
Carl took the file bag and walk towards the office, then leaned against the wall and took in a breath. Since being so close to Olivia, he felt strange, like a butterfly flying around in front of him.
"What's wrong with you?"
Carl was shocked and turned to see that it was Gia, looking at him mysteriously.
"Nothing!" Carl raised the bag of documents in his hand, "This is what the director just asked me to hand out."
After taking a form, Gia smiled and said, "Let's go, I'll take you somewhere."
"Where are you going to take me?" Carl looked at Gia in confusion. He was unclear what she wanted to do.
After following Gia down the corridor and through a small door, Carl realized that the back of the headquarters was a garden with shady trees and blossoming flowers, interspersed with green stone-paved pathways on the vermilion, with a number of pavilions in between.
"What is this place?" Carl said.
"This is the garden, a place to rest." Ran said, "It was built before. The staff had a heavy work at headquarters, and this garden was built to make the staff relax so that we can work better."
"But it's not the time for a break yet!" Carl said speechlessly.
"What are you afraid of? You're the director's deputy minister now, and I'm also a small supervisor. Anyway, there's nothing going on at headquarters right now, so we'll just come here and sneak in some laziness before we go to work." Saying that, Gia pointed to the pager hanging on her shoulder, "If there's anything going on later, they'll pager me."
Saying that, Gia sat down in the gazebo, "Do you know why I'm still at headquarters when my internship is over? I love here. Every time I come here, I feel much better."
Gia chattered on and on, but Carl didn't listen to a word of it.
After a few minutes, when Gia calmed down, Carl said, "Gia, I'll ask you a question."
Lan looked at Carl strangely, "What?"
Carl didn't dare to say it directly, "I have a friend, a man, since coming into contact with a friend of the opposite sex, he found that as long as he is with her, he feels wonderful like a butterfly flying into his heart. Until now he can't figure out what is going on. Is he possessed?"
Gia couldn't help but burst out laughing when she heard such words, "Your friend must have fallen in love with her."
"That friend of yours is yourself, right! Tell me who you're in love with. Maybe I can help you out with ideas or something to ensure you successfully chasing after her."
Carl was helpless, "You've misunderstood. It's really my friend."
Ran stared at Carl, "You're still pretending. Now you'd better be honest and tell me who you're in love with."
Carl didn't dare to say it. If this matter was said out, he would be laughed off by Gia.
After seeing Carl squirming and unable to say anything, Gia was stunned, "Are you in love with me?"
This made Carl stunned, only a while before he reacted and was about to explain. But Gia stood up and said happily, "I admit I am indeed very pretty. I am still the beauty of this year of the school, and there are many boys who want to chase me, but I have refused."
Saying that, Gia then seriously warned, "I warn you I'm only nineteen years old. It's not time to make a boyfriend yet, and you better not have designs on me. Besides, you're not my type. The prince charming in my heart must be rich and handsome, at least 1. 8 meters tall, with a family fortune of tens of millions of dollars, and most importantly, he must be exceptionally handsome!"
Gia looked over at Carl, "You're at most 1. 7 meters tall, and you're just a small deputy minister, a poor man with little money. You're not bad looking, but not very handsome, only moderately so."
Carl was very helpless. Was he really that bad?
After that, Gia showed a smile now, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to take it personally. Don't be mad at me."
"I'm not angry. I'm not sure why you like rich people. Aren't poor people not your match? Just as long as the couple lived happily together."
"You don't understand that. It is very realistic, and you know the saying that money makes the mare go. I've had enough of that kind of life without money."
Gia looked at Carl, "You'll never know what it's like for a poor person to eat steamed buns and pickles all day long, suffer the supercilious looks of relatives and friends, and be taunted by them. I'd rather sit in a BMW and cry than sit on a bicycle and laugh."
Although he had never experienced it, he could feel the feeling of eating steamed buns all day long and being mocked by his relatives and friends.
"So how long are you going to do this here?" Carl said.
Gia showed a smile, "I've thought about it. In another month, after I get my diploma, I'll leave here and find a new job, preferably the jobs that allow me to come in contact with the upper echelons of society on a regular basis. It will be closer to my dream."
Dreams? Gia’s dream was to be able to marry a rich and handsome man and be a rich wife of the upper class of society, and in the eyes of Carl, her dream didn't make sense at all.
"Do you believe there is love in this world?" Gia said.
Carl wasn't sure how to answer.
Gia looked at Carl for a glance, then smiled, "The so-called love is a lie. Those so-called love are based on an economic basis.
You may not believe me, but a psychologist did a test and arranged for a man to go on a blind date with a group of women. The man was very handsome. In the beginning, these women liked the man very much.
When the guy told the women who came on the blind date that he was from a single-parent family, that his father was a gambler, that he was in debt, and that his only job was as a restaurant worker. Can you guess what happened? Twenty women, every one of them, left when they heard these things."
Carl said, "Even if that's the case, you can't generalize and that's too arbitrary."
"It's not arbitrary. It's the truth. I'm not distorting the truth. Everything in front of money is weak. I admit I'm a gold worshipper. What I need is not love, but status and money."
After a few moments of silence, Gia looked at her watch, "It's late, let's get to work! I have a date after work."
Saying that, Gia winked towards Carl, "The guy I'm dating is a forty-year-old man. He has powerful backing. I heard that he is a shareholder of the Acce Lighting Group Headquarters. He is considered to be someone with some status and identity in Birmingham."
Carl was stunned. Gia was only nineteen years old. For the so-called dream, she actually agreed to date a man in his forties.
"I know you've been treating me as a friend and worrying about me, but don't worry. I'm just using him as my stepping stone, and when I find a better one, I'll dump him."
Saying that, Gia walked towards the courtyard outside.
Carl looked at Gia's back, not feeling good. There were some things that he couldn't stop just like Gia. She could have lived happily, but for that so-called dream, she started to chase after it by any means.
Carl reacted, walked to the corridor, saw the bag of documents in his hands, and only then remembered that the task Olivia gave him was not yet completed.
Three o'clock in the evening, he was off work.
Carl was afraid that what happened in the morning would happen again, and as soon as it was time to leave work, he hurried out of the headquarters and walked to the shuttle bus stop.
It had long been without a shuttle bus. He could occasionally see a vehicle driving by on the highway. But after waiting for a while, it was always impossible to wait for a taxi.
Carl was preparing to leave when he found a man standing not far away. After a closer look, this man was familiar, and after thinking for a while, it came to mind that this guy was one of Barr's men. He was the guy who rescued him yesterday after he was caught at Barr's headquarters. On the surface, he was one of Barr's men, but in reality, he had already been bribed by Olivia.
