Hoden
Theia shuffles closer to her male. It isn't one that someone can see visibly rather a slow move, one hidden until seen right. She has the guts, the strength I can tell that. Phobos startles pressing the brake on his meal. His jaw stops munching and his hands stop midway.
His eyes are void no feelings erupt within him. At least with Deimos, I could see the effect I had on him but no this male is different. He has an eerie calmness that surrounds him and his eyes look dead as if soulless. An emotionless male.
He stands up abruptly his chair screeching upon the marble tiles ending all chatter. A pin-drop silence consumes the room as raging wildfire spreading from one wolf to another. Theia takes a shaky breath her hands trembling as she tries her best to hide them for she knows all eyes are on them.
Grabbing his plate and a napkin he strides out into the open grounds. Through the windows, I see him settled beneath a tree continuing his meal as if he were finally in peace.
Deimos continues eating his meal as if nothing big had happened. He acted as though this wasn't a big matter. Were all males in his family taught to deny their mates or is this something to do with genes?
"He wasn't always like this, you know?" Deimos whispers looking towards his brother with sad eyes as if he would cry if he thought of the past.
"What do you mean?" I question frowning wishing for him to explain further.
"He was quite a different male when we were young. He talked a lot compared to how less he does now. He smiled at times and gave me advice when necessary. I looked up to him. But before our parents died he had no choice but to take over our other pack. It isn't one as such that you and I possess but a more ruthless and unmerciful one." He explains.
"I do not understand, my male." I whisper shaking my head my mind unable to comprehend where he is coming from.
"My brother is special. He is different from us. He is more in line with the wolves of the other pack so my father sent him away and made them train him, Lumina. They changed him into this soulless creature for you need to be one if you wish to rule over those wolves. He was young when he left my family merely a juvenile so it was quite easy to bend him mold him into this full-grown killing machine." Deimos continues shaking his head with disapproval.
"Is that so?" My eyes widen to his words. They carved him up as one would carve a knife into sharpness that even a feather-like touch could cause you to bleed. I had heard about this other pack, the rumors that surrounded them. A place where beasts roam free and would thrust their fangs into flesh if threatened even if it were unintentional. I did not know his brother was the Alpha of this pack, no wonder my wolves trembled in his presence.
"Theia will suffer." Deimos says as though he speaks of a written prophecy. "She is weak. My brother will not have her. She will have to fight, Lumina. For him as well as her place in that pack." He finishes wiping his mouth with the napkin leaving the table striding out to greet his brother.
My females speak with Theia with gentle smiles on their faces and she looks content being with them. Comfortable and in peace. This might not be something that welcomes her in Phobos's pack. Wait, does she still wish for my male? Does she wish that she could stay here and take my place instead of leaving back with her male?
My striking eyes pierce into her as she turns and gazes out the window searching for her moon blessed. No. Deimos is no longer part of her interests, he doesn't exist in such a way to her anymore.
Getting up slowly heading to her I take tiny steps. "Theia." I call her name as she gets up quickly.
"Lumina." She whispers her eyes filled with worry and regret. She thinks I am here to talk about our past. As her mind searches for the right words to speak I stop it.
"Come. Let us talk outside." I walk first with the fragile female stumbling about behind me.
As soon as we are on open grounds with no ears to listen I regard her. "Put a spell on him." I whisper looking into her eyes.
"W-What?" She stutters confused with the vagueness of my words.
"No matter what, he cannot deny you. So fight him with what you have that he doesn't." I advise.
"And what is that?" She questions.
"Your soul." I smile. "Seduce him. Make him jealous. Make him sad. Make him frustrated. Make him confused. Make him angry. Make him feel, Theia. Only you can do that."
Her eyes move to the ground. She doubts herself, she thinks he feels nothing for her but that is where she is wrong. "He has his walls and he is hiding what you make him feel. Tear them down. Sink your claws deep and rip them apart and you will see how truly vulnerable he is." I whisper.
"He is not Deimos!" She spits digging her nails into her palm. Eyes shut her body trembles. She is in distress and pain. We share the same experience. Perhaps this is what happens when parents die early and fail to teach their pups the right path.
"Trust my words, Theia. He is the same for you will see the similarities with time." I say.
"Why are you helping me?" She questions frowning not understanding my actions. She takes a step back her eyes uneasy thinking I am trying to act nice whilst trying to push her deeper into the dark abyss.
"You remind me of who I was when I met Deimos. I desperately needed advice but could find no one to come to my aid." I reply stretching my limbs trying to ease the knots. I have very little strength these days for my wolf sleeps preparing her body for birth.
"Thank you." She whispers her eyes speak her truth. She is truly thankful.
Our conversation is stopped by the scream of a female. A very soft one but since my ears have become more sensitive due to pregnancy I heard it.
It has me turn with an uneasy swiftness my eyes quickly scanning the crowd searching for the source. Theia looks at me confused as to what I am suddenly searching for. In the corner of the field hidden behind a pillar, I see a sobbing female sprawled on the floor holding her cheek.
Despite my heavy belly, my feet rush to her as fast as possible, my heart pounding worried if she is heavily hurt. But my path is stopped by a male, her mate I suppose. His chest heaving eyes furious a snarl from his throat as he peers down at her. Kneeling cradling her red swollen cheek softly in my palm, she flinches and shudders to my touch.
My chest burns to beat against my ribcage. My palms turn into fists as Elriam appears behind me from within the shadows. Always ready without ever needing my command.
Standing up, I face her mate. "Did you lay your hands on her?" I question. A dominant tone requiring a truthful answer.
"Yes, Luna. But you will not hold it against me for she deserved it." He growls deep lunging towards her again. His claws out wishing to get a strike at his female. This is a male who has been betrayed, I have seen this type of anger several times before.
Elriam blocks his path not allowing him to get to his mate. "Is this the first time he has hit you?" I question her.
She kneels head bent and nods sobbing deeper. "Y-Yes. But it w-was my fault." She wails helplessly wiping her tears with her palms body swaying. She feels nothing but regret. The pack gathers around wanting to see what the commotion is about.
"What did you do?" I ask her calmly.
"I kissed another. I didn't know what I was doing, I took a drug, and I-" She begins rambling about her past action and I stop her immediately. The pack will shame her for this so I quieten her before she can spill her sin.
"You need to earn his forgiveness. Until he receives you back with open arms, even perhaps until the moon takes you. Do you understand?" I question my tone sharp jabbing into her soul.
"Yes, Luna." She nods continuously agreeing to my words. Her eyes red and swollen as she peeks up at her male.
"Elriam." I call her name opening my palm to her waiting for what I wish to possess. She immediately places the silver knife into my palm.
Grabbing it without hesitation I thrust it deep into the male's arm dragging it up from his elbow to his wrist. The knife cuts smoothly through skin blood gushing from the wound I gave him. His flesh separates into two showing the inside of his hand.
His female screams seeing her male filled with pain as he howls eyes tearing up with the unbearable pain I have inflicted upon him. He falls to the ground and his female crawls to him. How could he ever raise a hand on this female who loves him so much?
Bending down grabbing his jaw so he can meet my eyes. Tears streaming down his face he clutches his hand tightly trying to stop the blood loss. "I went easy on you. May this be the first and the last time you raise your hand on her. Do it again and I will go directly for your throat. Do you understand?" I ask him.
"Y-Yes, Luna." He whispers. His female tears a piece of cloth off her dress holding it against his wound.
"Elriam call for the healer before he dies." I command turning away walking from them my spine straight head high.
Wolves in my path make way heads bowed as I stride towards my male who gazes at me with pride. His brother next to him staring at me with a new light in his eyes as if he just found a jewel.
Frowning I look for Theia as she is nowhere to be found. The sound of someone gagging has me look for the source only to find the female I was looking for. She kneels upon the grass floor, her upper torso bent forward mouth open as she pukes the contents her stomach holds.
"What happened?" I question. Why is she barfing all of a sudden? There is no way she is sick as she was fine a while ago.
"I c-cant h-handle blood." This is all she can let out as she gags more hiding behind the bush. I gag following her, my pregnancy making it hard for me to be close to things that look disgusting and smell, even my fluids.
Looking away holding my breath I pat her back gently trying to ease her distress. As soon as she is settled and calm Elriam brings some water which she gulps down quickly soothing her dry throat. Once she is proper, I guide her back to the two waiting males.
She struggles to walk properly stumbling along the way her body suddenly weak. Phobos regards her with disinterest and shuts his eyes with a deep frown as if asking the moon goddess why she gave him a female who cannot even withstand the sight of blood.
She sniffs wiping her nose with her sweater's sleeve. Arms folded across his chest, Phobos then swiftly changes his attention to me as his striking eyes plunge through me as if he were digging deep into my soul. After all these weeks of barely hearing a word from him, he finally speaks.
Just one word he says whilst looking at me. A word meant for me. "Hoden." He says with a curt nod as if acknowledging me. I had heard this word before, I knew it quite well despite the different language he spoke in. He had just called me worthy.
