Chapter 146: Divide and Conquer
We all stand still and wait for Antonio to make his next move. I’m desperate to make sure Natasha is ok, but I don’t move a muscle for fear of something happening to Olivia. Marcus has a murderous expression and Derek is barely able to hold him back.
“I came here to take my revenge on Logan, but what a pleasant surprise that my Olivia showed up,” Antonio remarks.
“You’re not going to hurt her, Antonio. So your threat is pointless,” Logan replies with a steady voice.
“No? Do you know what happens when a man gets desperate? He makes rash decisions. Would anyone care to test me?” Antonio boasts and then slowly starts to move off the porch.
“My wife and I will be leaving now. And if any of you follow me, keep in mind she will bear the brunt of my disappointment,” Antonio continues to move away from us and we stay where we are. He is unhinged and we all know it, so nobody is willing to take the chance. Antonio’s men follow them with their guns pointed back at us until we no longer see them.
“I have to go after her. I won’t let her spend a single second with that monster,” Marcus says.
“You are going to have to play this really safe. He means what he says. If he knows he is being followed, he will torture her. It’s unlikely he will kill her, but he will make her wish she was dead,” Logan replies.
I don’t stay to listen to the rest of the conversation. I run into the house and downstairs to find Natasha locked up and crying. When she sees me, she cries even harder but there is a look of relief on her face.
“Natasha, are you alright? Did he hurt you?” I ask as I envelope her in a hug.
“No, but he said he was going to kill all of you...and I got so scared…” she replies through hiccupping sobs. I hold her close as I carry her out of the house to meet Derek. Logan and Marcus are still arguing but the battle is finally over.
“We need to regroup. A lot has happened and going after Antonio without a plan is a big mistake. Let’s find somewhere to rest and figure things out,” Logan says logically.
We all nod and head back to the car as Logan’s men stay to clean things up. I want to go back and say goodbye to Felix one more time, but Natasha has a tight grip on me and I need to comfort her and get her somewhere safe.
“We need to get Felix back home. He deserves a proper funeral,” I say.
“I will take care of it,” Logan replies. He speaks to one of his men and explains what needs to be done and then we make our way to a hotel.
Once we get there I find Natasha some food and lay her down on the bed to rest. She is out before her head even hits the pillow. I walk into the adjoining room and everyone else looks about as exhausted as I feel. I still haven’t really taken the time to grieve my friend or process the fact that I now have two daughters instead of one.
“We have to rescue Olivia. Every moment that she’s with Antonio she is in danger,” Marcus says with a desperate tone. I look at Derek and Logan for answers. I want to help Marcus and Olivia, but the fate of my daughter also hangs in the balance. So much precious time has passed already.
“There is a lot to think about...that is, to coordinate. We have to get Natasha somewhere safe, home preferably. And I have to go after Brian. He still has Anna and she’s in danger,” I say to Marcus as gently as I can. He lowers his head and sighs.
“I know, Lily. But I need help. I can’t do this on my own,” he tells me in a quiet voice.
“Then we divide and conquer. Marcus, you and Logan and his men can make a plan to get Olivia back. Lily and I can track down Brian,” Derek says.
“And what about Natasha?” I say.
“I had an idea about that actually. What about Amy? I can get her here quicker than someone from your pack. She can take her home,” Logan interjects. I nod in response.
“That’s actually a good idea. She can take a look at Natasha as well. I don’t know what she’s been through and I want to make sure she is ok,” I reply.
“I’ll make the call. Marcus and I can go to our room and make our plans. I will give you the contacts for some other men I know in the New York area that can be on standby if you need backup. You both need to get some rest before you try to take on another enemy,” Logan says. I’m going to miss his reassuring presence. I hug him and then Marcus, wishing them both luck.
As the door clicks shut, I turn around to see a sympathetic look on Derek’s face. I go into his outstretched arms and press my face to his chest. My emotions finally take over and I let it all out. Derek holds me while I cry and he mutters gentle, reassuring words into my hair.
He kisses me softly on the lips and the adrenaline from the day’s events catches up to us. I attack his mouth with mine and he presses me up against him so I feel every inch of his body. He grabs my behind and squeezes, pulling me even closer to feel his arousal. I rake my fingers through his hair and tug. He growls in response and puts his arm around my waist, lifting me up so I wrap my legs around his.
I rock up and down on him as he continues to kiss and suck on my neck and chest. My head falls back from the contact and I moan with pleasure. I start to lift his shirt off-
“Mommy?” a small voice exclaims from the doorway.
