Chapter 101- Sit With Me.
Asher had gotten all the information you needed from Darian and it was finally time for him Viola and the twins to begin their journey to the southern outskirts of the pack.
Asher was pissed when he realized that the foot prints and where they were had thrown him off, they had outsmarted him by leaving multiple foot prints at the Northern outskirts of the pack.
Their Destination was still far ahead of them but the four of them were determined. They had all morphed into the wolves, all unique in their own way minus the twins who are nearly identical.
They all started in the slow jog, Asher taking the forefront while the two brothers stayed at the back, leaving Viola in the middle of the larger wolves.
Asher was really trying to be focused but Viola’s scent was stronger than it had ever been before. Her delicious aura attacked him over and over again, wafting and assaulting his large nostrils which flared in anger and lust.
Now was not the time to crave Viola in any kind of way. He had a mission to do and he had promised his best friend that he was going to bring his mate back to him.
This was one of the reasons he didn’t want her to come. She was a distraction that tormented and tortured him, he could not afford to fuck this mission up because of her!
Once they passed the border of the pack, they knew it was time for them to sprint like their lives depended on it, there was no time to waste and there was no telling of what was lurking in the shadows. Also, there was a possibility that Addilyn’s men were crawling through the forest, waiting for them to make any move; for example, the one they were making right then.
They knew for a fact that they had to do whatever they could to get to the hideout before one of her spies could get there and spill anything to her… them.
Asher still couldn’t accept that Imogen was working with her, it was fucking impossible!
‘What if it’s true?’, a small voice said from with in him. Asher was torn, this was different from the everyday dilemmas he faced regularly. No, this was so much harder and it was nearly impossible for him to make a choice. The what if's were endless and they were driving him mad with rage and confusion.
He pushed himself harder, his speed was no match for the others in the group and he ended up losing them by a few miles, he could still sense them through Viola's scent but he knew they could only catch up with him if he either slowed down or stopped completely- which he was in no way ready to do. His large black wolf was merely a blur in the thickness of the large forest, the massive leaves of the gigantic trees blocking out the sun and creating a dark and airy scene.
He hated that they were going into this with no plan or idea of what they were going to meet there. Darian had just down played to them the little he could see and that was the little they were going to work with. He had reminded Asher once again that Imogen was evil and that she shouldn't be trusted which, considering the fact that she was his sister was extremely harsh. But yes, at the back of his mind, Asher still hoped that he could save Imogen and pull her out of this... phase she was going through.
As they neared the abandoned building by a few miles, Asher began to slow down and halted in a clearing, waiting for the others to catch up with him. He changed to his human form and pulled off the clothes that had been wrapped around his leg, tugging them on before the other three came pouncing into the clearing, "We continue on foot", he announced before climbing up a nearby tree and suveying his surroundings. He could see the building that Darian had been talking about and it looked absolutely disgusting- like it hadn't been lived in in decades. Maybe that explained why it was in the middle of the fucking forest.
He jumped down, only to see that the other three were now in their human form and dressed as well, "We are not that far off, do you guys need a break?", they were about to shake their heads when Asher went to sit on a large boulder in the middle of the space, "Come on", he urged them, "Sit with me", they all looked at him weirdly but did as theyu were told, sitting down on the floor in front of him.
Asher sighed and breathed in and out- the forest was so quiet, so peaceful and serene, he didn't want to leave, "Do you hear that?", he questioned, his eyes closed as he enjoyed the calm of the birds chirping in a distance, the butterflies fluttering their beautiful wings, the waterfall that wasn't too far from where they were and the usual rustling in the bushes that signified wildlife- it was all so beautiful to him.
"Why did we stop, Asher?", Levi asked, his expression was stone cold and hard, he on the other hand could not wait to leave this place, the silence was deafening and that was the last thing he needed before a fight.
Asher sighed once again and opened his eyes, his green orbs meeting all of theirs at the same time and then, his expression became serious, "We might not make it out alive", he pointed out, to which Liam scoffed and muttered dryly,
"How more encouraging could you be, Asher?", the sarcasm dripped out of every word that left his mouth but Asher chose to ignore it and continued his speech.
"These men, they will be dealing with lot of Wolfsbane which could kill any of you immediately. If anyone is to die, it should be me- I will protect you, the three of you with my life", he swore, "And if one of you even think about taking a hit for me, I will fucking kill you myself. I will not allow history to repeat itself, am I understood?", his two brothers nodded their head in acceptance, while Viola looked like she was in deep though, her eyes were looking into space and were slightly dilated. He snapped his fingers in her face, gaining her attention, "Am I understood?", he repeated to her and she nodded her head, not even sure of what he said. All she had going through her mind was how she was going to make sure everyone got out of there alive- her sister included.
"Okay", Levi clapped his hands as he stood up from the floor, "Now that that is done and over with, can we get moving? The mosquitoes here are killing", he complained. The others stood up and they started their running once again, but this time, Asher managed to stay on the same pace as them, leading the way once again until they came to a halt at the border of the forest which surrounded the building. Knowing that there were probably rouges surrounding the area, Asher suggested that they moved to the trees- he had though of a quick plan in his head and he had just a tiny feeling that it would work and if it didn't... well, shit.
A rouge soon came into view, cigarette in mouth and Asher knew it was time to put his plan into action. He jumped down from the tree, startling the rogue who was quick to pull out a knife and plundged it in Asher's direction. Yes, he was fast, but not fast enough for the Alpha. Asher pulled the knife out of the man's hand and pressed it against the man's throat, not enough to kill him but enough to burn the man and show him that he wasn't playing around. The man was about to scream in pain when Asher pressed the knife deeper, "Shhhhhh", the man's flesh burned and he hissed in pain, "You're going to do as I say, okay?", the man didn't answer and Asher pressed the knife again, almost reaching for the man's jugular, "Okay?", he said again and the man nodded frantically.
Asher signalled to the rest to come down from the trees they were in and they all had questioning looks on their face. "Now", Asher whispered coldly into the rouge's ears, "You are going to lead us to where you keep your prisoners. Make any wrong sounds or moves and I will not hesitate to slice your throat, okay?", the man nodded again frantically and began towards the building quickly with the group in tow.
He started to head in a different direction and Asher gave him a questioning look, "I can't just go in through the front door", the man croaked out, barely able to speak. Asher had his guard up, he was clearly not going to put his trust in this disgusting mutt, for all he knew, the rogues could have their own ways of communicating with one another.
