Elena's POV
"Elena... Elena, would you marry me?" Lucian asked while bending on one knee, holding out a ring right before me.
I looked around, wondering how the hell I had gotten there. The last thing I remembered was drinking the abortion drug Alpha Derek had given me so that he could have his way. I had no idea how I had gotten to this secluded place where somehow Lucian was there with me, asking me to marry him.
Everything was happening so fast, and I was losing track of time and reality. "Lucian, how did you get here, and where are we?" I asked Lucian in shock.
"Come now, Elena, it's not time for games. Just tell me... Would you marry me and make my life complete? Be with me for the rest of my life, making me a complete man?" Lucian said with anticipation in his eyes.
I didn't know what was going on. Was everything too good for me to pass on? Before I knew it, tears welled up in my eyes, and then I blurted out the words, "Yes! Yes, of course, Lucy! I'll marry you!" I said and gave him my hand for him to put the ring on it.
In the next moment, sounds of clapping were heard, and that was when I realized we were actually in a restaurant. People were clapping and applauding us, while others were taking photos. I was glad and happy about everything that was going on, and before I knew it, I was no longer in a restaurant but at an altar. I was being wedded to Lucian by a priest.
"Do you, Lucian, take Elena Barnes as your lawfully wedded wife, and promise to stay by her in..." The priest went on and on about the vows, but Lucian didn't take his eyes off me. Eventually, when the priest was done, Lucian simply uttered the word "Yes."
The priest then turned to me and began saying the same thing. Eventually, when he was done, I replied with the same answer as well. Before I knew it, Lucy had picked me up and planted a passionate kiss on my lips, and suddenly we were transported somewhere else.
Suddenly there were three of us: myself, Lucian, and a young boy. He seemed to be perhaps seven or eight years of age, and I wondered just where he had come from.
"Mom, breakfast is as spectacular as ever," he said with a big smile on his face.
His words left me shocked as I was having a difficult time comprehending everything. He had just called me "mom," which meant that somehow I had given birth to this young man. That was when I realized that my stomach was no longer protruded, meaning that I had long since delivered my child.
Looking into the handsome boy's face now, my eyes began to grow wet with tears. I couldn't even hold the tears back. Lucian sat by without saying anything but simply had a smile on his face.
"Why are you crying, mom?" the boy said with a concerned look on his face.
"It's nothing, son. Eat your breakfast," I said and turned back around to continue doing the dishes that were right there before me.
But then suddenly, everywhere became hot and dark red. And before I could even think or comprehend what was going on, what seemed like a pleasant breakfast turned into a dark nightmare. Edwina walked in from the door and grabbed the young boy by his hands, pulling him with her forcefully.
As she dragged the boy, I felt something tear and pull within me as well. "Edwina, what the hell are you doing, and why are you here?" I asked, terrified and shocked.
"I'm here to take what is mine," Edwina said and dragged the boy once more. I felt something rip in me just as Edwina pulled him. And with that, I was snapped back into reality, and I realized that I was in an operating room.
"Forgive us for having to do this without administering any anesthetic to you, but any such substance cannot be given to you at this moment with the likelihood of affecting your baby. We know you are too weak to push with all you have in order for the baby to come out, and that is why we have made a little space. All you need to do is just give it a little effort, and the baby should come right out," a nurse said calmly and in a soothing voice.
I could barely make out what she was saying, but I perfectly understood her. There was little strength left in me, but with what strength I had, I pushed, and I could feel something moving. I pushed harder and harder, making sure he came out as healthy as possible, but I was losing strength and energy by the second.
"I love you, Elena, and I will always be here for you. Nothing in the world is ever going to make me leave you, and you should know that I have your back just as you have mine," I heard David's soothing voice say. His voice put me at ease and made me love him even more.
He placed a light kiss on my forehead and then walked away. I decided to follow behind him, and I followed him into a room which he closed the door behind him. I walked up to the door and listened in on what was going on inside.
I first heard sounds that sounded like a struggle, but then they softened out, and I heard a woman's voice. The voice was actually familiar, and without having to think much, I realized that it was the voice of my sister Matilda.
I could hear David grunting as he exerted force at something, and Matilda seemed to be moaning under the impact. They were whispering certain words into each other's ears now, and I could barely pick it up.
"Can you believe how foolish Elena is? To think that all this while she actually believed that my father would step down and hand the reins of this pack over to her. She's just an entity and a disgrace with Omega blood in her veins, and I have always been the right choice," I heard Matilda say through her moans.
"I've known that, and you've known that. I was smart enough to know the right choice between you and your sister. It seems the only ignorant one here is her. How foolish can one person be to believe they can be cast aside by their family and yet be accepted by strangers? Every word I say to her, she's willing to believe without even giving it a second thought. She's such an empty-headed moron, and the thought of just how easy it is to manipulate her is mind-blowing," I heard David say.
"And to think she hoped to keep you to herself without even giving you some of this. She should have known to at least let you have a taste once in a while," Matilda was saying through her moans.
"Well, it doesn't really matter. She's an amateur, and I don't think even if she did, she would have been any good. It's you and only you I want. And Elena can go to hell for all I care," David said.
"Okay, that's enough!" I said and then barged right into the room. I grabbed David by the ankle and forcefully pulled him to me.
But before he could get far enough, Matilda held his hand, preventing him from getting all the way to me, and then she pulled him right back.
"Matilda, can't you ever be satisfied by what you get from our parents? All along, you have been favored by both of them and even the entire pack. Somehow you stole everything from me, and now you're going to steal the one good thing I have left in this world. David's mine, and you'd better let him go now, or else we will have to fight for him," I said as tears left my eyes.
Somehow David turned into a medium of tug of war, making it so that the person with the most strength would win.
"You've always been a stupid, easily manipulated bitch. I don't even know how you managed to get into this world, but the world would be way better if you just died and left it. The least you can do to give back is to suffer as much as you can before you inevitably die in misery later on. You don't deserve anything good in life, and someone like David deserves someone like me, not a lonely piece of trash like yourself. Your own father who had sired you and brought you into this world did not even appreciate or want anything to do with you. And yet somehow you think someone who isn't a member of your family would care about you? You are a fool, Elena, and you always will be. Now leave David be and get the hell out," Matilda said and pulled David forcefully.
"No way. I won't leave until I get back what is mine," I said and dragged with all my might as well.
Matilda and I stood there, or at least she sat on the bed while pulling with all her strength. I pulled and pulled, exerting every ounce of energy I had in my body until somehow I felt something between my legs.
A wet, slippery rush seemed to escape, and suddenly I lost every ounce of strength or energy I had left. I collapsed weakly onto my pillow, and from a very far-off distance, I heard the sound of a baby crying.
