Chapter 68 SIXTY-EIGHT

Chapter 68 SIXTY-EIGHT
Arthur cursed, as Derrick kept attacking without stopping. He couldn’t find a way to fight back. It was clear now—Derrick was stronger than him.
"What’s the matter, Arthur?" Derrick mocked him, circling him like a wolf playing with its prey. "I’m stronger than you now!" he added with a grin.
Derrick waited years for this. Arthur gave him a scar in the past that he will forever remember, but now he will do everything to kill him..
Arthur breathed heavily, trying to stay on his feet. He had fought many battles before, but this was different. Derrick was faster, stronger, and more ruthless. He felt like Derrick was a whole different person. Every attack Arthur tried was blocked, every move countered. He was running out of options. Is this what the drug does to him?
Then, in a blur, Derrick moved. Arthur barely saw the attack before claws slashed across his chest. Pain shot through him as he stumbled back. Before he could recover, Derrick struck again, harder this time. Arthur’s body hit the ground with a heavy thud.
His head spun, his body weak and bleeding. He tried to move, but darkness clouded his vision. Within seconds, he lost consciousness. Derrick stood over him, shaking the blood off his claws.
"Pathetic," he muttered. Derrick was about to rip Arthur to pieces, but then a deep, animalistic growl made him turn.
Raven, in his wolf form, was not far away, his chest rising and falling with heavy breaths. At his feet lay Marion’s lifeless body. Blood dripped from Raven’s jaws, and in his mouth, he held Marion’s severed head.
Derrick’s grin disappeared. How dare the young wolf kill his rogue general?! Derrick growled loudly and ran towards Raven, attacking him, and both of them ended up rolling on the ground.
"Exhausted, are you?" Derrick said, slashing his claws, but Raven dodged him. "Stay still, mutt! I'm going to kill you, like I did to your old man!" he added. Raven's eyes suddenly filled with rage.
"Fuck you!" Raven uttered these words and attempted to overthrow Derrick. "My father's not dead!" he added, and with all his might, pushed Derrick away from him.
Raven looked around him, afraid that the rogue's words may be true. His heart beat faster as his eyes landed on the gray wolf lying on the ground, covered in blood.
"Dad!" Raven yelled.
"Never turn your back on the enemy—did they never teach you that, young wolf?" Derrick said and lunged at him.
Raven barely had time to react before Derrick’s heavy body crashed into him, sending him to the ground. The force knocked the air out of his lungs, and before he could push Derrick off, sharp claws raked across his side.
He growled in pain, twisting beneath Derrick, but the older wolf was relentless. Teeth sank into Raven’s shoulder, and he snarled, trying to shake Derrick off. Blood dripped onto the ground as they struggled, dirt flying around them.
Derrick had the advantage—he was stronger and more experienced. No matter how fiercely Raven fought back, Derrick blocked every move, pressing him down with his weight.
For the first time since the battle started, Raven felt himself losing. All hope was lost, but Derrick stopped his assault. Raven, wounded, looked at Derrick and saw him cough up blood. Raven could see a dagger pierced through him. He could also feel blood dripping on his face.
"Get off my son, you filthy rogue," Arthur said while clutching his wound in his human form. He pushed Derrick off of Raven while panting. He fell on the ground, groaning in pain.
"Dad!" Raven immediately transformed back into his human form and held his father in his arms.
"Dad, don't die on me!" he yelled.
"Is it finally over?" Arthur asked, eyes half-closed. Raven nodded his head, glancing at Derrick's dead body.
"Yes, Dad. You defeated him," he whispered.
"I'm glad," Arthur said and coughed up blood.
"Don't talk anymore, Dad! I'll find a doctor for you!" he said. Arthur smiled weakly at him before closing his eyes. Raven's heart pounded in fear.
"Dammit!" he cursed.
He tightened his grip on his father’s hand and shouted, "Carter! Find me a doctor, quick!"
Carter didn’t hesitate seeing the previous Alpha's situation. He turned and ran, weaving through the chaos of battle. Bodies lay scattered, both friend and foe. The scent of blood was heavy in the air. He searched desperately, hoping there was still someone alive who could help in the wretched pack they were in.
Then, in the distance, he spotted a group approaching—the scent was familiar. As they got closer, he recognized Jao leading them. Relief washed over him.
"Jao!" Carter called out, rushing toward them. "Do you have a doctor with you? Alpha Arthur is badly wounded, and he needs help, or he'll die!" he added worriedly.
Jao's group stopped, and Jao looked behind him. Among them, a man stepped forward—Marvin, a skilled doctor who refused to stay obedient under Derrick's tyranny. The sole survivor of the family of doctors living in the Red Moon Pack.
"I'm here," Marvin said quickly. "Take me to him," he added.  Without wasting time, Carter led him back to the battlefield where Arthur lies.
After they arrived, Jao immediately scanned the area with his eyes. The fighting was still going strong. He clenched his fists. This battle needed to end. Jao turned to his warriors. He was lucky to gather at least thirty of them on the way here. The ones who were hiding came out to help.
"Help Alpha Raven's pack!" he said and winced in pain as even talking hurts his body. "Subdue the Red Moon Pack warriors, but kill all the rogues!" he added.
His men nodded their heads and joined the fight. Jao took a deep breath. He wanted to join with them to fight, but Carter stopped him.
"You know you can't," Carter said.
"Let's bring him to my clinic!" Jao heard Marvin say. Without hesitation, Raven carried his father and left Carter and Jao behind.
"It's over," Carter said as he looked at the rogues falling one by one. Jao kneeled on the ground.
"What about my family?" Jao asked. Carter tapped his shoulder.
"They're alright. Our warriors have already secured them and are staying in the nearby pack," Carter replied. Jao closed his eyes, feeling the breeze brush past him, a strong scent of blood covering it, but he did not mind.
Years of fear for the safety of his life and family now come to an end. Derrick's finally dead and will never come back. Together with his son Jasper, they will rot in hell, judged by the Moon Goddess for their wrongdoings.
