Chapter 52 FIFTY-TWO
Jasper stood back, watching as the rogues launched their attack on the Crescent Stone Pack. A wicked grin spread across his face as the warriors struggled, quickly losing ground against the relentless assault.
The rogues were out of control, wild and brutal in their attack. Jasper knew why—they weren’t just fighting on their own strength. His father had given them drugs before the battle, turning them into crazed animals, unstoppable and violent.
"They don’t stand a chance," Jasper muttered, his eyes shining with grim satisfaction. But behind his smirk, Jasper was already thinking ahead. This wasn’t just about the fight—it was part of something bigger. A step toward his own plan.
"Let's go," he said and turned towards Jao.
"Sir, what about them? Your father asked you to lead them," Jao said, looking at the rogues. Jasper scoffed.
"I don't care. His rogues will manage," Jasper said. "I know you have been following me for days, Jao. If you don't want me to get your family involved in this, don't tell anything to my father," he added and walked away. Jao clenched his hand into a fist.
Brienne tried to undo the ropes around her hands and feet but failed. She was locked in a room with only a flickering light overhead.
"Please, let me out!" she screamed. She was scared. Who kidnapped her? She couldn’t think of anyone who might want to harm her. She had no enemies, no wealth—nothing to make her a target.
Suddenly, the door slammed open, startling her. A man entered, carrying a tray of food. His face was cold and unfeeling as he placed the tray on the floor beside her. Without a word, he crouched and began untying the ropes around her wrists.
"Eat," he ordered sharply, his voice as cold as his expression. "And don’t try anything stupid, or I’ll kill you." His words made Brienne’s stomach churn with fear, but she nodded quickly, not daring to resist.
Her hands trembling, she picked up the bread from the tray and ate it in quick bites, her hunger overshadowed by the knot of anxiety tightening in her chest. She swallowed hard and gathered the courage to speak.
"W-Who are you?" She stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. Tears welled in her eyes and began streaming down her face. "Why are you doing this? Please, I don’t understand..." she added.
The man’s expression didn’t soften. He leaned back, his arms crossed as he watched her with a detached air.
"You don’t need to know who I am," he said coldly, his tone devoid of sympathy. "But soon, you’ll meet my boss," he added.
Brienne’s heart sank as his words hung in the air. His boss? Her mind raced with questions, but she couldn’t bring herself to ask any more.
When she finished eating, the man grabbed her hands and tied them securely, ignoring her silent tears. Without another word, he left the room, locking the door behind him. Who was behind this—and why her?
Brienne’s questions were soon answered when the door creaked open, and a man stepped into the dimly lit room. His figure seemed oddly familiar, but she couldn’t place him until the faint, flickering light illuminated his face. Her breath hitched, and she gasped in shock.
"Hello, Brienne," he said smoothly, his voice dripping with mockery.
"J-Jasper?" Brienne stammered, her voice trembling with disbelief. Her heart thumped loudly in her chest. "H-How? You were... dead," she added, her voice breaking as fear and confusion washed over her.
Jasper chuckled darkly, dragging a chair across the floor and sitting directly in front of her. He leaned back casually, his grin widening as he watched her struggle to process the situation.
"Surprise," he said with a smirk, his tone cold and mocking.
Brienne’s hands trembled in her lap, her mind racing. "W—What do you want from me?" She stammered, barely able to get the words out. Jasper leaned forward, his eyes glinting with a mix of rage and satisfaction.
"Everything," he said bluntly, his voice carrying a venomous edge. "Your dear boyfriend ruined my life, so now I’m going to destroy his. And what better way to do that than by taking the one thing he can’t live without—you, Brienne," he added, his grin turning sinister.
Brienne froze, her chest tightening as the weight of his words sank in. Her fear deepened as she realized Jasper’s intentions weren’t just to hurt her but to shatter Raven’s world entirely. She looked into his cold, vengeful eyes and felt a shiver run down her spine.
"J-Jasper, please… let me go," Brienne pleaded, her voice shaking. Her heart raced, but she kept her tone soft. As much as she wanted to scream and curse at him, she knew it wouldn’t help. Agitating him would only make things worse. She knew Jasper too well—they had been together for two years in the past after all.
Jasper’s face darkened, and the twisted grin vanished. His eyes burned with fury as he grabbed a fistful of Brienne’s hair, yanking it hard. She cried out in pain, tears welling in her eyes.
"Do you think I’m a fool, Brienne?" He growled, his voice dripping with venom. "You filthy little slt. You ran straight to Raven the moment we broke up!” he spat, his grip tightening.
"And now? You’re even pregnant with his child?" Jasper shouted, his rage boiling over. He leaned closer, his eyes scanning her face for any hint of denial. "Do you even know that man is hiding something from you?" he sneered.
Brienne froze, her breath catching. She avoided his gaze, turning her head away. Jasper’s eyes narrowed, and then he let out a bitter laugh, the sound echoing in the room.
"You knew," he said, his voice laced with mockery. He released her hair with a rough shove, causing the chair to stumble lightly. "You knew he was a werewolf. When did that bstard tell you?" he added. Jasper stepped back, his laughter fading into a cold silence. Brienne stayed silent, her trembling hands instinctively shielding her belly as she tried to steady her breathing.
"But you know, Brienne, I have a secret too," Jasper said, his voice low and menacing. He stepped closer, his eyes gleaming. "Watch and see how powerful I really am," he added with a cruel grin.
Suddenly, Jasper’s body began to shake, and Brienne’s eyes widened in fear as loud cracks filled the room. Fur started growing all over his body, spreading quickly. His arms and legs twisted and changed shape until he was standing on four legs.
Brienne gasped, her face pale as she stared at the huge wolf in front of her. Its glowing eyes locked onto hers, and fear ran through her like ice.
Jasper is also a werewolf!
