Chapter 27 TWENTY-SEVEN

Chapter 27 TWENTY-SEVEN
Brienne woke up with a sharp gasp, her heart pounding as she tried to steady her breath. Disoriented, she looked around and saw Raven speaking calmly with an unfamiliar man nearby.
"Raven..." Raven turned his head towards her and immediately rushed to her side.
"Darling, are you alright? Is there any pain in your body?" he asked, worry evident in his face. Brienne shook her head.
"Let me check on her," the man said.
"Sam," Raven said.
"It's alright," Sam replied. "I'll just check on her and ask things. Wait outside," he added. Raven nodded his head and kissed Brienne's forehead.
"It's alright, he's a doctor. I'll be back," he said before leaving the room. Sam, the pack doctor, looked at Brienne and warmly smiled at her.
"Hi, I'm Sam," he said.
"Hello, I'm Brienne," she replied. "How long was I out?" she added.
"Just a couple of hours," Sam replied and began checking her heartbeat. "I want you to breathe in and breathe out slowly," he instructed. Brienne did what Sam told her to do.
"What did you see out there?" Sam asked. Brienne gulped, remembering the wolf she encountered in the forest.
"What happened to the wolf?" she asked, clasping her hands together. "I saw a massive wolf in the forest," she added.
"It ran away. Raven saw you in the forest, unconscious, and brought you back here in the house," Sam answered. It was what they had come up with as a reason if Brienne asked, which she was doing now.
"I thought I was going to die," Brienne said as she recalled how the massive wolf stared at her.
"Don't worry, it won't harm you unless it wants Raven's wrath," Sam said, whispering the last words of his sentence.
"What was it? I'm sorry, I couldn't hear it," Brienne asked. Sam smiled at her and put the stethoscope down.
"Nothing, Brienne. Now, are you hurt anywhere?" he asked. Brienne instinctively put her hand in her belly, and Sam noticed it.
"Brienne?" Same called. "Is there something you want to tell me?" he added. Brienne looked at the door, and Sam's eyes followed.
"If you're worried that I might tell Raven, don't be. I value my patient's privacy, and if you don't want to tell him, I will keep my mouth shut," Sam said and acted like he was zipping his mouth. Brienne nervously chuckled and rubbed her belly.
"I'm pregnant, but I haven't told him yet," Brienne said. Sam's eyes widened.
"Congratulations!" Sam muttered. "But Brienne, you cannot hide this from Raven forever. Your belly will grow and he will notice," he added.
"I plan on telling him when I'm about four months pregnant," she said as she played with her fingers.
"Okay, alright. I have to examine you tomorrow in the hospital because I only brought a basic medical kit. Have Raven take you, okay? If you feel discomfort or anything, don't hesitate to call me," Sam said. "Here's my number," he added and gave Brienne a calling card. Brienne took it and thanked the doctor.
"I'll see you tomorrow," Sam said and left the room. Raven then entered and walked towards Brienne.
"What did Sam say? He just walked past me and said to come to you," Raven said.
"He said to come to the hospital tomorrow," Brienne said and pulled the blanket.
"What? Why? Is there anything wrong? What are you feeling?" Raven's consecutive questions bombarded Brienne.
"Calm down," Brienne said, chuckling. "He just wanted to make sure I'm alright inside," she added.
"Okay," Raven said. "I'll bring you to the hospital tomorrow morning," he added.
"Stay here for the whole day, okay? I will have Lily deliver your food," Raven said, and Brienne nodded her head. After everything that had happened, she just wanted to stay in the house.
"Thank you," Brienne said. "And I'm sorry I interrupted your night," she added, pouting her lips.
"You're welcome, and it's alright," Raven said. "Just stay here," he said, kissing her forehead. Brienne nodded and watched Raven walk away. She turned her head and saw that it was already night as the moon shone brightly in the sky. Lily went inside with a tray in her hand.
"Miss Brie," Lily said.
"Lily," Brienne said.
"You made me worry, Miss Brie. Please don't do that again," Lily said. Brienne smiled at the woman.
"I'm sorry for worrying you, Lily," she muttered.
"I will forgive you if you eat all of the food I prepared," Lily said, grinning. Brienne looked at the tray, and her eyes widened.
"I can't definitely finish all of this!" she exclaimed. "It's too much, Lily, please," she added with her puppy eyes. Lily chuckled.
"I'm just kidding, Miss Brie. You can eat what you want," she said. Brienne's eyes twinkled, and her mouth waters. She took the spoon and fork and began eating.
Meanwhile, Raven went out of the packhouse and drove to Carter's house, where they gathered. He parked the car and got out of the car.
"Alpha," Carter said. "Dane's inside," he added. Raven nodded his head, and they both walked inside the house. Dane, the young wolf whom Brienne saw, was sitting on the couch, clasping his hands.
"Dane," Raven called. Dane looked up.
"Alpha, I'm sorry," he whispered; regret was evident in his voice. "I'm sorry, it's not my intention. I was back from hunting when she saw me. I didn't know Miss Brienne was out in the forest," he explained, head bowing.
"Dane... it's alright. I won't punish you," Raven said. "I just wanted to know what happened," he added. Raven thanked the Moon Goddess that it was his warrior who saw Brienne, not the rogues because he knew how viscous they were.
"I'm thankful that you were the one who found her," Raven said. "I know I ordered everyone to be cautious, and it must have been hard for you not to transform into your wolves. Just give me a little more time, and I will tell Brienne everything," he added.
"It's alright, Alpha; we understand," Dane said. Dane left the beta's house, and the three sat on the couch together.
"How was Brienne?" Carter asked.
"She was terrified," Raven said and heaved a sigh. "Sam told her to go to the hospital tomorrow, so I will bring her to him to get her examined," he added.
"Is she hurt that bad?" Morgan asked.
"No, but Sam wanted to make sure everything was fine," Raven answered.
"Here, another beer for you," Carter said and handed him the bottle.
"Just one bottle. I'll come home in an hour," Raven said. He took the bottle from Carter and opened the cap using his teeth. As he was drinking, he was thinking of a way on how to tell Brienne about werewolves.
