Chapter 25 TWENTY-FIVE

Chapter 25 TWENTY-FIVE
After Raven dropped off Brienne at the office, he returned to the packhouse and went directly to the underground prison they had.
Two warriors guarding the prison greeted Raven warmly.
"Where's the runaways?" he asked.
"On the third cell, Alpha," the warrior answered. Raven nodded and head inside. Immediately, he caught sight of the two women laughing and talking.
"This is the first time I've seen prisoners having fun while in jail," he said. The two stopped and looked at him, wary of his presence in the room.
"Because it’s actually better here in jail than in our pack," the woman with the auburn hair said. "At least, in here, we can eat three times a day, have decent clothes, and clean water," she added with a sad smile. Raven took a chair and sat in front of their cell.
"Which pack are you associated?" Raven asked. The women looked at each other and remained silent.
"I don't like repeating myself," he said and crossed his legs.
"What are you going to do? Are you going to take us back in the hellhole?" the woman with the jet black hair asked.
"Please... we'd rather stay in this prison forever rather than going back to that place," the woman with the auburn hair said.
"What are your names?" Raven asked.
"She's Jessica, and I'm Marie. We're both omegas," Jessica, the auburn-haired woman, said. Omegas are treated badly in some packs because they are naturally born weak and some couldn't even transform. While some packs considered them useless due to their inability to participate in battles, Raven's pack welcomes them with open arms. Raven had a small number of Omegas in his pack, all of whom were employed in the pack's hospital.
"So, Jessica and Marie, what pack are you associated with? I want to know which pack I'm going to be enemies with," Raven said. Jessica and Marie exchanged glances before turning their attention back to Raven.
"Do you mean-"
"Yes, I'm going to take you two in my pack. Now tell me the pack you're associated with," Raven said. He came up with the decision last night. These poor girls were in need of assistance, and who was he to abandon them?
"Thank you! Thank you, Alpha!" Marie said and burst out crying.
"Now, are you going to tell me?" Raven asked. Jessica nodded and wiped away her tears. "Moon Valley," she bravely said.
"Alright," Raven said and stood up. "I'll send my beta tomorrow to release you, and you'll be sent straight to the dormitories," he added. Five of his best warriors guarded the dorms he had built for orphans and omegas in the pack.
"Thank you, Alpha..."
"Raven. My name's Raven," Raven replied and headed out. He patted the warrior's shoulder and instructed them to feed the women.
Raven went home and took his phone out. He still has plenty of time before Brienne's lunch break. He climbed the stairs and opened the door to his office. Raven breathed deeply and sat on the swivel chair to start his work.
"Alpha," Carter said upon entering his office. "Moon Valley Pack is a small pack twenty miles from here," he added.
"What did you find?" Raven asked.
"Man, it's a fcking gloomy town. No wonder those girls ran away," Carter said, shaking his head. "The Alpha is Alpha Devon, a drunkard man in his forties. No mate, no anything," he added.
"What do you think of their force?" Raven asked. "Can we beat them?" he added as he clasped his hands together.
"Hell yeah, of course!" Carter answered. "They couldn't compare to our warriors who had done their training diligently," he added, making Raven smile. Proud of his warriors.
"Good," Raven said. "You know what to do when they decide to attack. Annihilate them," he added. No one messes with his pack.
"Understand," Carter said. "Anyway, what did you tell her?" he added.
"That there's a bear in the forest," Raven said.
"A fcking bear? Did she even believe it?" Carter asked.
"She did, and it's making me feel guilty," Raven said, heaving a sigh.
"Why don't you tell her the truth?" Carter asked.
"It's not as easy as you think it is," Raven said. "She's a human. And humans believe that we are myths. How can I just say it? That 'hey, I'm a werewolf, by the way'. She'd freak out," he added.
"That's... complicated," Carter said.
"It is. And I know taking my time would complicate things more, but I just can't say it hastily," Raven whispered.
"Want to drink?" Carter asked.
"In broad afternoon?" Raven asked him back. Carter chuckled and shrugged his shoulders.
"It seemed that you need one," Carter said.
"I do," Raven answered. "But I won't because I will go to Brienne's office to fetch her. I don't want her smelling me with alcohol," he added.
"Alright, fine. Later then," Carter said.
"I will try," Raven said.
"Then I have to go. I still have things to prepare for those girls," he said.
"Thanks, man," Raven said.
When it was about time to go to Brienne's office. Raven dropped the papers, grabbed his leather jacket, and headed out.
Hours later, he arrived and had the valet take care of his car. He went to their meeting place and texted Brienne. Fifteen minutes later, Brienne arrived, all disheveled and with red marks on her face.
"What happened to you?! Who did this?!" Raven angrily asked and cupped Brienne's face.
"Uh..."
"Darling," Raven said, his voice cold and his eyes darkened. "Tell me who it was, or I'm going to march to your department this instant," he added. Brienne bit her bottom lips and stared at Raven.
"It's one of my co-workers; we got into a fight when I heard them badmouthing Janice in the bathroom," she said. "Janice came to my rescue, and we fought them," she added, pouting her lips.
"Tell me their names," Raven said and tucked her hair behind her ear.
"Why?" Brienne asked.
"That's because I asked you, darling," he responded.
"No, because you'll do something again. Besides, it was all sorted out. The manager already talked to them," Brienne said.
"But darling..."
"No, I'm alright, and I gave her a nasty black eye," Brienne proudly said and smiled.
"Now, that's my girl," Raven said and leaned to kiss Brienne on the lips. "Let's get that treated. What do you want, darling?" he added and intertwined their hands.
"Donuts!" Brienne exclaimed, eyes twinkling. Raven chuckled and couldn't help but steal a kiss from her cheek.
"Okay, we'll get that," he said, and they left the office, but in Raven's mind, it wasn't finished. He'll definitely find the names of the people who hurt his woman.
