Chapter 185
Chapter 185
Freya's POV
The first rays of dawn filtered through the grand windows of Moon Shadow Pack's manor, casting a silver glow across the elaborately decorated halls.
As I stood before the mirror adjusting my flowing white dress, memories of this past month flooded back. The healing hadn't been easy for any of us.
Alexander had spent weeks processing the devastating truth about his mother's death. I'd watched him cycle through rage, grief, and finally acceptance.
Cedric's recovery had been slower, the psychological wounds deeper than the physical ones.
But gradually, with Anson and Edward's patient support, he'd begun to reclaim himself. The family dinners we'd started having helped—Luke, Lily, and Levi bringing laughter back into the manor's halls, their innocent joy infectious.
'We've all been healing together,' I thought, touching the moonstone bracelet Isabella had given me this morning. 'And today, we finally move forward as one family.'
A gentle knock interrupted my thoughts. "Mommy, are you ready?" Luke's voice carried through the door, mature beyond his five years as always.
"Come in, sweetheart."
The door burst open, and all three of my children tumbled in. Luke wore a miniature version of Alexander's formal Alpha attire, his little face serious as he carried a checklist. "I've been checking the ceremony setup with Caleb. Everything's perfect for you, Mom."
Lily spun in circles, her flower girl dress twirling around her like a silver cloud. "Mommy, you're gonna be the most beautiful Luna ever!"
Zoe burst in next, followed by Evander, Stella, and Mia—my chosen family ready to help me prepare. As they fussed over final details, Marcus appeared in the doorway, dressed in formal ceremonial robes.
The reconciliation with my father had been one of the most healing parts of this month. Seeing him truly apologize, watching him bond with his grandchildren, had mended something broken in my heart.
"Freya," he said softly, "it's time. Are you ready?"
I nodded, my heart racing with anticipation rather than nerves. "I've been ready for five years."
As the sun began to set, the ceremony grounds transformed into something magical. The ancient stone circle at the heart of Moon Shadow territory glowed with silver candles. Representatives from all three packs—Moon Shadow, Star, and Dawn—gathered in respectful silence.
The full moon hung heavy and bright above us as I walked down the moonlit path, Marcus at my side.
Alexander waited at the altar, breathtaking in his ceremonial Alpha robes, his eyes never leaving mine. Edward stood at the center, radiating ancient wisdom.
"Under the blessing of the Moon Goddess," Edward's voice carried across the gathering, "we witness not just the union of two souls, but the healing of two families, the joining of allied packs, and the completion of a destiny written in the stars."
Alexander and I stepped forward, our hands joining as Edward guided us through the sacred vows. The ritual blade gleamed in the moonlight as we each made a small cut on our palms, our blood mingling as it dripped onto the moongrass below.
"By blood, by choice, by the sacred bond that cannot be broken," Edward continued, "let your wolf forms seal this union before the Moon Goddess."
The shift came naturally, our wolves emerging in a cascade of silver and black. Alexander's massive black wolf nuzzled against my silver one, and in that moment, our mate bond snapped into place with an intensity that stole my breath.
Light—pure, silver light—erupted around us as our connection completed. The crowd gasped as the radiance settled, marking us as true mates blessed by the Moon Goddess herself.
We shifted back, and Alexander's eyes blazed with primal satisfaction as he pressed his mark to my neck, claiming me as his Luna. I returned the gesture, marking him as mine, our souls finally, completely intertwined.
"Now," Edward smiled, his ancient eyes twinkling, "let us honor both tradition and the love that brought you here. Alexander, Freya, speak the vows of your hearts."
Alexander took my hands, his voice strong and clear. "Freya, you brought light back into my world when I didn't even know I was living in darkness. You and the kids—you're everything I never knew I needed. I promise to love you fiercely, protect you always, and never let a day pass without showing you how grateful I am that you're mine."
Tears blurred my vision as I replied, "Alexander, you've given us a home, a family, a future I never dared dream of. I promise to stand beside you, to build something beautiful together, to love you through every storm."
Luke stepped forward with unprecedented solemnity, carrying two rings embedded with moongrass essence. "I officially give my mom to you, Alexander. But you better take good care of her, or you'll answer to me."
Alexander knelt to Luke's eye level, his expression equally serious as he accepted the rings. "I promise you. I'll protect her with my life, just like I'll protect all of you."
"Then let these rings, blessed by moongrass and forged in silver, symbolize the unbreakable bond you share," Edward declared as we exchanged them. "May they remind you always of this sacred vow."
Lily and Levi scattered rose petals around us as Edward raised his hands to the moon. "By the ancient laws and under the Moon Goddess's blessing, I pronounce you mated for life."
Alexander's kiss was gentle but claiming, a promise of forever sealed under the silver moon.
As applause erupted around us, our children ran to wrap us in a group hug. I caught sight of our celebrating pack—Caleb beaming beside Mia, Zoe and Evander holding hands, even Theodore had flown in from his tour. Cedric stood with Edward and Anson, his face radiant with genuine happiness for the first time in months.
The reception flowed into the manor's grand ballroom, where we danced our first dance as mates. Alexander held me close, and I felt the warmth of our completed bond, the security of our love, the promise of our future.
"No regrets?" he murmured against my ear.
I smiled, feeling complete for the first time in my life. "None. We're exactly where we're meant to be."
The past month had taught us all that healing was possible, that family could be rebuilt stronger than before. Standing here in Alexander's arms, surrounded by everyone we loved, I knew we'd found our forever.
'Thank you, Moon Goddess,' I thought, pressing closer to my mate. 'Thank you for bringing us home.'
