Chapter thirty-one

“These must be the biggest roses I’ve ever seen,” I said and held the big rose in my hand.

Lucian chuckled as he walked behind me on the brick path in the garden and hooked his thumbs in the belt loops of his jeans.

I turned to him and I gave him a big smile as I shared my joy with him. After meeting his old friend, Anthony, who baked the best cranberry biscuits, we’d eaten breakfast alone in the hall and gone for a walk into the garden.

I skipped over to him and wrapped my arms around him in a hug.

He hugged me back and I could feel his arms weren’t as big as they were when I first met him.

I went on my toes and gave him a kiss.

He pulled me closer against him and he deepened the kiss. I could smell his arousal and the way his hand bunched at my shirt, he knew I wanted him too.

“We can’t do this now,” I whispered as I leaned my head on his. He laughed softly and gave me an Eskimo kiss with his nose.

“I know mate.” He said and lifted me up and placed me on his shoulders like a little kid.

“So, this is what it feels like to be a giant,” I said, and we burst out laughing like two naughty children.

“I see you two have made yourself at home,” Maxwell said, and Lucian turned us around to look at the man.

Lisa was on his arm again, wearing a pair of bum shorts and a cropped tank top. She had a pair of stilettos that would have broken my ankle if I’d attempted to walk in them.

I noticed a big dragon tattoo running up their thigh and disappearing under the shorts.

“We’re just checking out the land,” Lucian said, and I felt the muscles of his shoulders tense under me.

“Well then, you don’t mind us joining you?” he said looking at Lisa.

“No. I don’t,” Lucian said and watched him with an intense stare.

“Very well, shall we?” Maxwell motioned for Lucian to walk and they walked beside us, and the tense silence made my heart rate quicken.

“WAIT!” someone yelled, and we all turned to look at a young man racing towards us with a notebook and pen.

“What do you want Eric?” Maxwell asked and Eric had to catch his breath before straitened his lab coat.

“You agreed to let me interview the wolves,” Eric said, and Maxwell looked at Lucian. I quickly answered on Lucian’s behalf.

“I’d love to answer your questions, young man,” I said, and his face lit up as if I was Santa Clause, finally giving him his bike.

“Okay. Ummm… here. What happens on a red moon?” He began and I blushed deeply.

“The mating moon, or the red moon, uh…” I struggled to find the right words to put it.

“Something about the moon rises our sex drive. The red moon is there to help mates end the mating process hence the name,” I said, and he quickly scribbled some notes on his notepad.

“Ready for the next question?” he asked, and I nodded.

“Hit me.”

“The wolf Kingdom is broken up into little packs, why are the Alphas so possessive?” he asked, and I took a minute to think.

“Well, Alphas are there to protect the pack and make sure everyone follows the rules of wolf law. Because we have so many of our kind around the world, we cannot have one king or queen to rule over us. The only reason Alphas get so uptight about people coming into their pack lands is simply because not all wolves are nice.” I said and he scribbled then frowned, biting his pen.

“Are you telling me there are wolves that will turn against their own kind?”

I nodded.

“But why?”

“Power. Wolves fight for power. The more land you have, the more wolves you can have serving beneath you. The more wolves, the higher you are to succeed when striking a pack.” I said and he scratched his head.

“What are rogues?” he asked, and I laughed.

“They are bad wolves. They either left their pack for whatever reason or were thrown out for a bad crime. After time, rogues turn wild. Like real wolves.”

He nodded as he scribbled and mumbled something to himself.

After taking a tour of the castle gardens for a few hours and answering the non-stop flow of questions from Eric, I was beyond tired.

When we got back to the room, Lucian dropped me on the bed before jumping on himself.

“How many water fountains can one King have in his garden?” I groaned and curled into a ball at Lucian’s side.

“No no no,” he said, and I frowned as he grabbed my leg.

He moved it over him so I could sit up and straddle him.

“Mmmm.” He growled and his eyes went black in an instant.

I rocked once and he held my thighs for me to stop.

I smiled and ran my hands up his chest, watching his reaction.

I was flat against him, with my legs on either side of him.

“So, Alpha, what is it you want to do now?” I asked him, licking my lips.

I brushed my lips up to his jaw and stopped before I could kiss his lips.

I attempted to roll off him, only for him to roll with me and thrust his hips against me.

I gasped in surprise and need.

“Lucian,” I said softly, and he nibbled on my ear.

“Don’t tease me if you are not expecting anything from it,” he said softly against my jaw.

“You’ve been a bad wolf,” I heard him say and for some reason, his dominance made me lick my lips.

“You like that?” he said with a smirk and I nodded, goosebumps appearing on my skin where his fingers trailed down my arm.

Before I could say anything more, his mouth was on mine. Devouring me with a hot, passionate kiss.
