Epilogue

Six years later.

As I open the fridge to get my orange juice, my heart almost leaps out of my chest as Conri jumps out of the fridge.

“Boo!”

“Oh my goddess! How the hell did you even get in there?” I shriek as I place a hand on my racing heart to calm it down.

”Language,” Conri yells, giggling like he just did the funniest shit in the world. He tries to run but I grab his cheek and pinch as I scold him.

“Ow! Dad! Mom is hurting me,” he screams as he manages to free himself out of my grasp and run to the living room. Feeling frustration and a headache coming in, I rub my temple as I exit the kitchen, completely forgetting my orange juice.

When my gaze falls on Devyn and Praya, I feel warmth creep into my chest. He lifts his gaze and stares at me with admiration and love in his icy blue eyes. As I walk closer to him, I giggle when I see what Praya did to him. He has a large pink bow in his hair, and he’s seated on a stool as Praya paints his nails, her focus unwavering.

I cross my arms over my chest as I gaze at everyone admiringly. Devyn’s gaze moves to my chest and I feel heat creep up on my cheek when his eyes darken with desire.

‘When I’m done here, I want you naked in our bed,’ his voice echoes in my mind as it sends warmth in between my legs.

‘With these little rascals playing around?’

He cocks a brow, ‘Your dad’s still taking them out today, isn't he? We’ll have all the time to ourselves when they're gone.’

“Stay still,” Praya warns him and I let out a chuckle when she glares at him

“Sorry about that, baby, don’t get mad,” Devyn responds, grinning widely.

A lot has changed in six years. After the battle, I got pregnant not long after, and in less than four months, I gave birth to Praya. The moment she came out with red hair, and eyes as blue as Devyn’s, the name Praya dropped into my heart. Devyn constantly joked about Praya; my late friend, being the father, but our daughter got her red hair from my mother.

She grew up into a beautiful strong girl and she was only going to get stronger. She was so similar to Devyn, with her rigid personality, and confidence in her strength.

A year after I had Praya, I had Conri who was such an adorable kid, but a pain in the ass most times. He was the tiny male version of me, taking after my brown hair and amber eyes… Devyb’s genes didn't even stand a chance.

Devyn came up with the name Conri which meant wolf king, because he believed Conri was going to live up to his name, having my bravery and strength.

As for Conri’s stubborn side, Devyn always said he took that from me, which always caused an argument between us.

Lucia suddenly walks out from the kitchen with the tray of muffins she always baked specially for the kids.

“Muffins!” Conri and Praya both chorus as they both leave whatever they’re doing and rush to Lucia.

The doorbell suddenly rings and Devyn goes to get it.

“Good day, sir,” he says respectfully and I already can tell who it is.

My dad walks in, and I feel a smile creep up on my lips as I rush to hug him. After everything happened six years ago, Devyn and I decided to bring him to the pack to live, since he wasn't getting any younger, and needed to be closer to family.

Dad never liked Devyn at first because he married me without letting him know, and he would always complain about the grim look on Devyn’s face, even though I always tried to assure him that was just his resting face. With time, he got used to Devyn.

He loved his grandkids just as much as they loved him.

“Hey Dad, you’re early,” I kiss him on his cheek, “Did you eat breakfast before coming?”

He shakes his head as he grins widely, “I was too excited for the day that I forgot to eat.”

I look behind him and that's when I see Liam. I pull him into a hug as my dad settles in the living room. I hear the kids scream ‘grandpa’, as they rush to embrace him.

“Hey, you.” He rubs my hair as he smiles widely.

“Hey, it’s good to see you, what are you up to?” I ask, placing a hand on my hip.

“Well, I volunteered to drive your dad and the kids today.”

“Thank you so much,” I scan around him, “Where’s Kristen? I’m surprised she’s not here with you.”

Liam’s cheeks flush at the mention of her. Since he started dating Kristen, they were too much in love and never apart. It warmed my heart to always see them together, to know Liam finally found love again after his loss, and Kristen finally stuck to a decent man.

“She’s back at school. You know how serious she is,” he scratches the back of his neck, “I’ll go see her today.”

When the kids see Liam, they rush to him, screaming, ‘Uncle Liam.’

They crash into him and I feared they would all fall to the ground.

When it was just Devyn and I in the house, in less than a minute, we were in our bedroom, tousling on the bed as we made love like feral animals. I used to worry that the spark and desire would die as we grew older, but it never did. Instead, it built even more as the years passed by.

As we lie naked on the bed, I trail my fingers on Devyn’s chest, enjoying the warmth radiating from his body. I trace his scars, and he doesn’t grow rigid like before.

He leans in and takes my lips in his, and I melt against him. I gaze into his blue eyes as I caress every feature of his perfect face.

“I love you, Gina. My heart will never stop beating for you, even when it’s dead and withered.”

My heart throbs with every word, and I know he means it.

I think back on how normal my life was before everything changed in one night. I never yearned for that life anymore, because I realized know this had been my purpose all along.

As impossible and difficult as it seemed, I made it, and not alone. People fought alongside me, and all the sacrifices that brought me to this point, I was never going to forget them.

I placed a kiss on his forehead, as I gazed into those icy-blue eyes. “This is forever.”

I finally got my happy ending, and nobody is going to rewrite my story.

The End.
