Chapter 33 Thirty Three
Elara's POV
“You should have shot him a freaking bullet to the neck!.” Aria cursed, helping me with a glass of water.
“I agree with you, Aria. The boss should have sent Allan to an early grave. What silly audacity did he think he ordered from Amazon.” Cyric chipped, his tone harsh
I chuckled lightly at Aria's sense of humor despite how much tension this situation brooded. I sipped the water Aria handed over to me. It was a relief to me. My throat was dry from holding back all that rage.
“How lucky that I let it slide. Besides , I don't waste my bullets on fools,” I said, setting the glass down on the table, my eyes sweeping across everyone. Throne, Aria, Darius and Cyric.
“He is not worth me staining blood on my hands.”
Aria rolled her eyes sarcastically , unmoved by explanation.“But still, Boss. He pulled a gun on you. He pointed a freaking gun at you. He dared you. Killing him won't be enough torture.” Aria ranted through gritted teeth.
“Yet he trembled like he was a scared pup while still at it. He was scared despite having a Hun trained at me. I could imagine the rate of heart beat. He was probably having a heart attack at that moment.” I smirked. “That’s enough punishment for him. I don't think he would dare repeat why he did ever again in his lifetime. He had the fucking gun but I was in control. That's what power is and that's what a lowlife Allan would never grasp in his lifetime.”
Throne leaned back on the couch, arms crossed. “I understand you very well, Boss. Buying this time might just be your luck so please, don’t walk in there alone. My heart almost jumped out of my chest when he pointed that thing at your face.”
“Same as me. I was scared for you. I couldn't understand why everyone would try to test your patience. I am glad he now understands his place.”Cyric uttered, a concern frowning on his face.
I nodded slowly. “I understand your worries. I know walking into that tunnel without any weapon was a risk but I had to take that risk. At least I have left an impression on Allan that I am not someone he can mess with. Now he knows why our rouge pack is feared by all in Nightshade city. Now he knows why the werewolf community is uneasy at the mention of my name.”
Aria folded her arms. “He better remember what happened this evening. Because there won't be a next time. He should remember to tremble like he did today anything he sees you. He should be afraid to see your shadow move.”
The rest nodded until Darius finally spoke, his voice was calm yet sharp.”We’ll have to triple your security from now on, Boss. We don't trust anyone. There might be an assassination attempt. So, no more solo meetings like that. I'll make sure to secure every parameter you are within. No more going out without a weapon. Not after what happened tonight.
I gave a short, appreciative nod. “Noted with thanks, Darius.”
Cyric cracked his knuckles, a resolved look imprinted on his face. “If he ever tries that again, I won’t wait for your signal. I'll make sure he pays for messing with you.”
I met his gaze. “If he tries that again, I promise you all that he won’t live to regret his actions and mistakes. I'll make sure to send him six feet below.”
Everyone went quiet, the tension palpable in the room. Allan had crossed a line tonight and I had spared him out of the goodness of my heart. But if it happens next time, there would be no warning. But paying with his blood would pacify me”
Aria leaned forward, her voice low, dripping with venom.
“Goodness me. I don't want to know if it was from the goodness of your heart or not, Boss. The next time anyone makes a shady move on you, let us handle it. You don’t always have to play fair and nice even to fools.
I smirked. “Being fair doesn't keep a kingdom standing. Strategy does. I was only being strategic. I had a backup plan. I had Cyric and Throne to back me up. I could also smell from the moment I walked in that Allan was a coward. I could smell fear already and that's why I wasn't all that worried.”
Throne sighed. “I like your confidence, Boss but still…. We care about you, we worry about your safety. We are concerned about the growing numbers of our enemies. You’re not just our leader. You’re our family. We must look out for each other. That's the only way to win this. To stay strong and triumph.”
That word settled deep in my chest, overwhelming me. Family. They were all in my family. Throne was right. I had them on my side. I was loved by them. I wasn't that heartbroken, rejected and mocked girl anymore. I had respect.
I glanced at them, each face looking loyal and fierce.
“I know and understand you, Throne. I understand all of you. I would never do anything to compromise or jeopardize your life. I won’t take what we share for granted. From now on, I’ll let you all do your jobs. I won't interfere unless there's a need for me to. This time to quit walking into fire alone.”
Cyric nodded. “That’s good because next time such an incident happens again, I will personally burn the bastard before he breathes.”
I gave them all a proud smile, one that showed my heart was at peace.
They were all right. I had nothing to prove anymore. I wasn’t alone in this fight. I had a pack. A strong one. A family. A Brave one. A kindred of my own. A loving ome. And I had this conviction that with them beside me, no fool like Allan would ever win. Not even Lucas or ye Kordova's pack
