Chapter 30 Thirty

Chapter 30 Thirty

Elara's POV

I drove out of our territory through our large northern iron gate. That stood proud and unconquered.

“I'll initiate the tracker, Boss.” Darius sounded through a microchip implant in my ear. Just tiny enough not to be noticed and to do its job.
“Go ahead and initiate it.” I replied, eyes focused on the quiet road ahead.

The sun was already up. Shining and bright. I loved a bright day. It helped me remain calm and focused.

I heard the soft beep through the ear piece. Then I heard Darius's voice.

“The tracker has been activated now, Boss. Now I can monitor your every move and know when anything is wrong.” Darius confirmed, his voice laced with assurance.

“Good. Try not to lose me. I'll make sure to keep the conversation short and snappy.” I spoke, pressing my foot harder on the gas.

Cold wind rushed through the half-open window as I revved into the highway, I took in a sharp breath, my heart calm. I wasn't going to be scared. I had to be ready. I was going to show Alpha Allan that I didn't bend to fear but use threat to my own advantage.

No matter what happened, I would leave that meeting, my confidence and charisma intact. I would bend Allan to do my will.

“You don't have to panic, Boss. We got your back,” Cyric added. Their car drove behind mine at snail speed maintaining lots of distance to avoid unwanted attention.

“I know,” I whispered back.

I switched gears, letting the engine roar softly as I took a turn down a rocky, dirty and dusty path. Allan had sent an address but the country side. I hadn't been to this part of Nightshade city before. Initiated my Google map while it helped me navigate.

The road was long and clear, just how I liked it..

“Remember, Boss, no unnecessary risks,” Throne’s voice came in through the chip.

“Don’t worry. I’ll keep it simple,” I
answered, turning left into the dirt path Allan had sent earlier.

Trees stood tall on both sides, the road narrowing with every mile. I was really headed to the abode of Tarzan because what would the road be so creepy and narrower?

I looked at my map. The blue dot that guided me was moving at snail speed. Still a few more miles left. I blew out a breath and fixed my grip on the steering. The road had become bumpier and was rising dust into my car

“This place feels like a dead zone,” Cyric said through the earpiece. He was monitoring it through a goggle earth camera.
.
“Its creepy. What a dead zone!” I expressed, keeping my eyes forward. “Nontheless, there’s no turning back. It’s too late to back out.”

The road kept on getting bumpier with dust rising into my car. I rolled up my car window glass, putting on its air-conditioner.

“This is going to be fun.” I added with a smirk.

“We’re right behind you, Boss,” Throne assured.

I turned on my seat and looked behind at the road that lay behind me. A reasonable safe distance away drove Cyric and Throne’s car. Far away to prevent suspicion.

“Good. Let’s finish this quickly,” I said, pressing down on the gas.

As I drove further down the dusty path, the trees grew taller, serving as a canopy and shield against the sun I enjoyed. The air was thick with an eerie silence.

It was like I was being watched by people, creatures I couldn't see that were just there. Lurking. Observing. Monitoring me from the shadows.

Finally, the GPS led me to a large wooden gate that was adorned with intricate carvings of wolves. Brave wolves.

I parked my car close to a large oak tree. I stepped out, my eyes taking in my surroundings. Everywhere was just too silent. Like a graveyard. I walked towards the gate, the crunch of gravel beneath my feet echoing through the quietness.

"I'm here," I announced through the earpiece, my voice steady. "Let's see what Alpha Allan has in store for me."

“Yes, Boss. Audio and visual feed is very much intact to prevent malfunction.” Darius assured, optimistically.

I pulled out my phone, pinging a message to Allan.

Me: Finally arrived at the venue. Let your men know in order to prevent a scene.

This was more like a warning.

The gate creaked open, and I stepped forward, my heart pounding with anticipation.

Two men stood at the gates. Their cold stare piercing into my soul.
“What brings you here, starry lady.”

My gaze danced between them, a smirk on my lips.
“I am here to see Alpha Allan. Didn't he inform you about my visit?”. I cocked my head. My death stare fixed on their ridiculous faces.

Suddenly their walkie-talkie vibrated.
“Let her in.” He ordered, his voice resounding from his end.

“Yes, Alpha.” They chorused simultaneously.

They let me in after transferring me to two female guards. By the time I got to my meeting point with Allan where he was, which was an underground tunnel. I was guided through it by the female guards after being thoroughly searched by their search machines. They had to make sure I had a weapon on me or anything dangerous.

As I walked through the underground tunnel. The e fluorescent lights that hung above flickered in at irregular intervals casting eerie shadows on the walls.

The female guards flanked me. They had their eyes fixed on me, a mixture of curiosity and suspicion scribbles on their faces.

After about two minutes of walking, we finally came to halt in front of a large, dimly lit chamber and there I spotted Alpha Allan sitting on a throne-like chair, his piercing gaze locked onto mine.

He beckoned me to approach him. I coughed as the smoke rising from his cigar overwhelmed me. Allan took a deep puff, releasing it into the atmosphere.

"Welcome, Elara. I was beginning to think you wouldn't show up." He uttered, taking a puff out of his cigar. I forced a smile at him, my confidence unwavering. I walked towards him with purpose, making sure my unmatched aura of charisma stood out.

"Alpha Allan," I replied, my voice steady.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you." Allan's gaze roamed over me, assessing me with the speed of light. He had a passive face making his expression so unreadable but looking deeper, I could sense a hint of curiosity behind his eyes

"Please, take a seat," he said, gesturing to a chair opposite him. I sat down with my eyes still lingering. Never leaving him as I waited for him to speak.
