Chapter 16 Sixteen

Chapter 16 Sixteen

Lucas’s POV

I wasn't surprised when Caspian came to inform me that rumours had it that the Kordova warehouse was raided. With a lot of crates looted.

Elara.

I knew a puzzle piece wasn't fitting when I spotted her in the Kordova territory two days back.

Her look of defiance. Her aura. Her confidence. Sometimes it makes me wonder if she ordered her audacity from jumia because the Elara I knew had changed so much that recognizing her wasn't easy.

She wasn't the weak Omega girl I rejected. She was a Boss. One.

Gosh!!

How foolish was I to have missed my chance with her all because of a heartbreak I suffered.

I let out a hard sigh. My palm found my forehead. I rubbed my palm across my face.

Elara wasn't that quiet and scared girl anymore . She wasn't the same girl that begged for my love.

She had grown stronger. Fiercer than I could ever imagine. Now she was a Boss. A Don. A woman running her own syndicate. A woman who makes the moves. Shaking packs . Destroying empires and crumbling it to nothing.

She didn’t need anyone’s approval anymore, especially not mine.

I could see it in her eyes that day at the soiree. Her eyes flickering with all the emotions. Power. Anger. Revenge.

I knew deep in me that I created this version of Elara. The monster version I brought to life when I broke her heart.

Now, I had to deal with her wrath. If she wanted war, I had to be ready. But deep down, I knew I still wanted her.

“That's bad. Kordova is going to suffer a lot of loss from this.” I chipped, my gaze met with Caspian’s for a moment Caspian's eyes surveyed me.

“There's a lot going on. I hope we don't get tossed in the middle of all this mess. Our pack isn't stable for such a heist.

Caspian was right. Our pack wasn't ready for any infiltration. It wasn't ready for a real challenge. It wasn't ready for Elara.

I hated to admit it but we were weak but despite the empty threats , I knew we were.

The walls of my pack were already shaking. Just one little push and everything I have built, loved and cherished could crumble like dry bread

Elara knew it too. She knew we weren’t prepared.

She was very smart. Calculative. Dangerous and bold.

If she decided to come after us now as it stands, we wouldn’t stand a chance.

I scratched my head, feeling the pressure build up in my chest. I had two choices—fix this pack or fix things with her. Either way, Elara was now a storm in my path. I could either run from it or stand tall and face it. I wasn’t sure which one I could do yet.

“That's why I would like us to thread carefully. We need to muster our vibes again before coming back into the ring. Before coming into the battlefield.” I added, my voice laced with uncertainty.

I rose up from my seat, my fingers found my hair. I combed through it. My mind is racing.

“Any reaction from Kordova yet?”.

Caspian shook his head slowly, indicating a negative response.

“We haven't heard anything yet. Nothing . I think they are still cursing within their walls while counting their losses,” he replied.

We had our own spies everywhere so getting information wasn't a problem.

I nodded, my jaw tightening.

This were typical of the Kordova. Always slow to react. Always slowly to process danger.

Sometimes I wonder why that exists as a pack in the first place if they can't handle such misfortune the right way.

Meanwhile, I knew Elara wasn’t done with them yet. This was probably just her showing off the tip of her iceberg. Just the beginning.

She would keep coming at them. Closing in slowly while hitting them where it hurts the most. And if unfortunately, they didn't act fast, we could be next.

I needed to have a plan mapped out. A real one. Not just mere words.

My heart was throbbed but my head was experiencing the same.

I had to protect my pack. My legacy. My people even if it meant me making deals with the devil… or even with Elara herself.

“So typical of those fools. They never get a hang of anything until it's too late. Fucking morons.” I cursed through gritted teeth.

“I guess it's all a rumor now. We'll have to wait for their official announcement on the news and radio.”

Caspian chuckled lightly. “Yeah and when it comes out, the news will be sweet with the Kordova acting like victims when they have bullied smaller packs for years,” he said, shaking his head.

I cracked my knuckles, my jaw clenched tight.

“Karma always has its way and this time it comes knocking at their door but not how they expected it,” I muttered.

Silence swept across the room. Thoughts bombarding our minds.

“But we need to act and think smart, Alpha,” Caspian added, leaning forward. “For Elara to make such bold steps without remorse, we have to be on the lookout. Elara is making moves. We need to decide. To choose sides. Be her enemy or an ally?”

I breathed out slowly. My chest felt heavy. Tight with a lot of responsibility. Any wrong move and my pack would be a thing of the past.

“That’s the hard part, Caspian. My heart wants her, but my brain keeps warning me to ward off. She is a dangerous person to everyone, including me,” I said, gripping the table. “Maybe I should have a talk with her. A nice dinner. Try my best to persuade her to form an alliance with us?”

Caspian's face pulled to a frown. His brows arched.
“You can't stoop so low to beg a woman who isn't worth you. There are other ways to get her on her kneels.”

“Which is?”. I inquired, intrigued.

“Threaten her. Launch a mini scale attack. Gauge her reaction. Figure out a way. Make her see your superiority over her.”

I nodded my head making sense of what Caspian was yapping about.

He was right. I didn't have to belittle myself. I had to act smart. Think smart. Sweep her off her feet. Make her vulnerable.
