Aurora's POV

The bang on the door didn't sound like the one that happened back at my house with my kids a few days ago but it was loud enough to wake me from a deep slumber.

Althesame, I am glad that I have been woken up from a nightmare of some sort. I seldom had nightmares and when I did, it came with great meanings which I need not overlook but being in a lab was bizarre. What on earth were the contents of the various bottles used for? Why was I there and who knew me enough to chase me without depleting in strength?

The thudding on the door increased with each second that I wasted under my white duvet. I yawned and stretched my ladle simultaneously on the bed as I planted both of my legs on the floor to discover the resilient personality behind the door who had chosen not to back down till I stepped out of the room.

I threw on a towel gown and packed my hair into a rough bun as I made to open the door. I turned the doorknob and yanked it open to see the cutest face the world ever had. "So, it was you all along, huh? You don't want momma to rest till dawn," I said, touching the tip of his nose and smiling satisfactorily at him.

"Breakfast is ready Mum!" Jake said excitedly, tugging at my gown.

"Oh, that's thoughtful of you. Thank you, Jake," I said amidst smiles. I did not want to spoil his excitement by stepping in and prepping myself for breakfast. I just scooped him up, closed the door behind me and glided down the stairs with him in my arms.

He giggled all the way down to the dining. I know Jake to be a happy child but ever since we came over to Alpha Simeon's place, his happiness has tripled, the good thing about it is that it is contagious. Just by being happy and expressive about it, everyone around him automatically flows with the current.

At the dining, Jasmine and the nanny are seated at the table already waiting for everyone to complete the number. Jake seemed so happy that he drew closer to me and began almost in a whisper. "Mum," he called out.

"Yes, Jake. You want to tell mum something?" I asked, drawing my head closer to him so I could grab all he had to say. I could feel the warm air that oozed out of his mouth as he spoke very close to my ears.

"Mum, since we are now staying in Alpha Simeon's house, would he be our new father?" Jake asked, his eyes lighting up with a kind of curiosity that needed to be satisfied. I wasn't too surprised at the question because I had seen how he was always in sync with Alpha Killian anytime he came by the old place we stayed.

I didn't readily have an answer for him, since Alpha Killian was now in the picture but I needed to put things straight and clear out the foggy air that sought to hang above the heads of my children. By this time, Jasmine was looking intently at me, she was also interested in the answer to Jake's question.

"Look here kids," I began, almost looking stern but friendly still. "Alpha Simeon is not your new father. We are only here for a---" I got interrupted.

"Simeon? A father figure? Are you kidding me?" A familiar voice spoke. I turned my head to look at the direction the voice came from. Standing in the room was Finnah.

"Finnah?" I called out in excitement as I rushed to hug her. "Oh, my gosh! Finnah, is this you in flesh and blood? I have so missed you, look at you," I said in one breath. I couldn’t contain my excitement at the sight of my long-time friend coming around on the day I least expected.

Finnah was one of the souls that made life bearable for me in the pack when I first came into the pack. She was the reason her brother, Alpha Simeon started to get so fond of me. Because she was a lady who had a mind of her own and a lot of big dreams, she left as soon as I just had my set of twins to pursue her career.

Since then, her brother had taken me to be his sister and had protected and treated my kids with delicate love and care to the jealousy of all. I wondered what brought her back so early but I was glad she was around. I couldn’t wait to hear her stories, including the breakthroughs, the losses, the silent tears and especially, the lucky guy who would have her.
“We were just about to have breakfast, you can join us,” I said to her.
“Wait a minute,” she exclaimed with utmost shock, “Are these the twins? They have so grown to be like you. Beautiful and clever,” she said bending close to Jake and then towards Jasmine.

They do not recognise her because they were a few weeks old when she embarked on her journey. “Jake. Jasmine. This is Finnah, Momma’s bosom friend and Alpha Simeon’s younger sister,” before I could introduce Finnah to them, Jasmine interrupted me.

“I like your hair, did you dye it?” Jasmine commented
“And your eyes, are those real?” Jake added

We both looked at ourselves and let out a hearty laughter that reverberated across the whole room.

I beckoned on one of the maids to take in her luggage as she settled in for breakfast with us at the dining table. “Where is my brother?” She asked me with a smirk to the side of her face. “Come on, where else would your brother be if not in his cave sulking?” I teased, laughing out without restraint.

“I see you haven’t changed one bit, huh? If it were another person who made this statement, I would have demanded his head on a platter,” she said, jokingly and we both laughed it off.

“II was worried about the level of senseless killings that had been on the rise lately, I thought to come home and check on the pack. Something has to be done to put an end to these incessant killings,” she explained, her face wearing a heavy look of worry.
