Author’s POV
Two days later, Alpha Simon, Alpha Killian, and Aurora converge at the pack's meeting room to discuss the way forward with merging both packs.
Both of the Alphas were seated when Aurora walked in with a clipboard pressed very close to her bosom. She had files she needed both parties to sign. Alpha Killian began to look at her admiringly as she went about her duty of sharing the files with them.
The first document she placed before them contained a non-disclosure agreement detailing the pros and cons of merging both packs and why discretion and compatibility are needed to make the pact successful.
“You can sign here,” Aurora said pointing directly at the column by the left side of the document where both of the parties would need to append their signatures. She was in her glory doing what she knew how best to do.
“Please, ensure you read through before attempting to sign,” she warned, “Ask me questions if you must,” she said, directing her focus to Alpha Killian to further buttress her point.
“We have ample time to attend to all your questions,” she announced still looking at Alpha Killian who took his eyes off the paper before him and locked them into those of Aurora’s.
She brought forth the second document containing the objectives for merging the duration and all that is required from the members of each pack. She placed the documents before both of the Alphas and reserved her copy.
Aurora does the same with the third document before taking her seat beside Alpha Simon who notices how hard Alpha Killian has been staring at her since she walked into the room, a smear of anger spreading across his face.
If not that both packs needed to merge as a result of the terror from the rogues that loomed over them and sought to fiercely have the werewolves wiped out, he would have damned the consequences to put a permanent end to the proposed pact between his pack and those of Alpha Killian.
“I see here that both Alphas should take turns converging often in their various packs, how often should this be?” Alpha Killian asked with a smirk stealing a corner of his face.
“That’s right. While it is advisable to meet as often as possible, both Alphas should decide the number of times most convenient for them to meet,” Aurora answered professionally and coherently.
“I would suggest we meet bi-monthly because we have other activities to catch up with in the pack so that we can have ample time on our hands to run our packs,” Alpha Killian said
“What other activity is greater than strategizing and brainstorming ways to defeat our common enemy?” Alpha Killian asked sarcasm tensioned in his voice.
“What exactly are you insinuating, Alpha Killian?” Aurora asked, knowing the aftermath of what is prone to happen if she allowed him to continue on the path of sarcasm.
“I am proposing we meet three times a month. Is that too much?” he asked, slightly shrugging his shoulders and stretching out his hands in the direction of Alpha Simon.
“That’s fine,” he said with a pursed lip. He wasn’t happy that Alpha Killian’s suggestion would be the final word he ran with but what other option is he left with?
“This place says the merged packs will have one leader since two captains in a boat spell doom for everyone aboard, how would the leader be picked?”
“Errmm… you know, here is how this works---”
“The question was not yours to answer, superwoman,” Alpha Killian curtly interrupts her mid-way into her statement.
Aurora is taken aback but remains calm as she smuggles out a wry smile immediately. Shaking her head slightly, she darts her gaze to Alpha Simon’s face. On his face was a degree of fury that hell couldn’t match up to.
“If you disregard my beta, you disregard me also. What I would not condone is this disregard you have just wrought,” Alpha Simon protested without holding back.
Alpha Killian hadn’t seen an Alpha who took sides with his beta as well as Alpha Simon does Aurora. He begins to question their relationship stance as he looks from Aurora to Alpha Killian.
“Is there anything more to this or is it just what I said?” Alpha Killian asks, “Women are not to talk in the presence of men, especially before powerful Alphas like myself. So, why get all worked up?” he adds, a sense of remorse eluding him.
“You must know that the world doesn’t revolve around you and your large ego!” Alpha Simon thundered from where he sat, breathing heavily.
“Oh, is that what this is? A meeting where you seek to dictate what you want without considering how it fits into my agenda?”
“Oh, there you go again! Your agenda. Always about you. None else but you,” Alpha Simon, retorted. He was in one of his elements. The back and forth that came out of the meeting room made the maids and some of the workers cringe in fear.
Alpha Killian’s men stood alert with guns in their hands ready to pull the trigger at the mention of the word go, from their commander.
The argument between them was a heated one and tension was palpable.
“Guy! Guy! Guy!” Aurora called out but their voice drowned hers.
“Guuuuuuyyyyyyyyssssss!” she gave a prolonged scream with all the strength she could muster.
“What!” They responded in unison.
“If we continue this way, we will make a mess of things. Put your differences behind and let’s make this work,” she pleaded, eyes almost moistening, “We need this,” she continued, “I know you both are bitter rivals but I am optimistic that we can make this work. We can,” she nodded assuringly.
The Alpha calmed down and signed the contract documents before them. Aurora didn’t know that she had just set herself up for a fiercer tussle, not for packs nor authority but for her heart.
“Find out all you can about Aurora. Discreetly of course,” Alpha Killian speaks quietly into the phone as he walks past the meeting hallway.
